I’m in a dither since both you and Louise posted at the same time today. It’s all too much excitement for me. I shall retire now to my fainting chaise.😆
Hahahaha. Double the Savidge delight. I meant to post this on Tuesday but my editing time is soooooo poor at the moment. Bring on July and a quiet month.
I would really recommend checking out Caper when you are in Oxford, they are a relatively new independant bookshop and I just love it in there. It's a little out of the city centre on Magdalen Rd just off Iffley road. Gutted I can't make the event tomorrow at Daunt as it sounds super interesting!
“The Wickerman meets Rebecca…” OOOOOHHHH, if that’s true it could be a new favorite for me! I have never heard of the book, thanks so much for the intro.
Amazingly although I make a point to visit several bookshops whenever I am in London I have never been to any of those three (however I have read Monica Ali’s novel). What fun! And what a great haul. One day I must get to the West Kirby Book Shop!
I loved this vlog you two 🎉. Vicarious book shopping so wonderful Thank you 🎉 I haven’t had much free time recently but I try to pop by whenever I can 🎉 I am going to check out your recommendation, But the Girl.
The Milkman's On His Way! Oh, I remember buying that in John Menzies maaaaany moons ago when I was a closeted teen. Hyperventilating walking to the till thinking my secret would be discovered.
I had that with a few books back in the day, shows that things have come forward a lot which is good... and something we need to be reminded of now and again when the world is looking glum.
I purchased The In-Between by Christos Tsiolkas (having seen it first via your video ☺️) I haven’t read another of CT’s since The Slap - a long time ago 😬 (really enjoyed it).
Good to accompany you & ‘the artist formerly known as your mother’ 😘 to the bookshops !! I like the sound of But the Girl (hope that’s the right title 😬) As you mentioned Anne Enright, I have to say - wasn’t she a fabulous presence at the WP ‘live shortlisted readings’ event? I’ve got a copy of The Gathering which I want to get to soon (stupidly 🙄 I forgot to take it with me to the above mentioned event to get AE’s signature); plus I’ve Megan Nolan’s Ordinary Human Failings on library loan to read AND (!!) I want to read another by Claire Kilroy ☺️📚
Anne's introduction to the book, reading from it and interview were fabulous at the shortlist event, she was hilarious. I will not be reading anymore Claire Kilroy, what she said about single parents and same sex parents at the shortlist readings were awful, Mum and I were fuming. I had the pleasure of meeting Megan Nolan last week at the Encore Awards and she was wonderful!
Thanks, that was fun, sadly, no independent bookshops near me, only chain bookstores. There is an antique shop that has some old books, maybe I'll venture there, they had a lesser known Forester there from the thirties, but rough shape, so I did not buy it and it was a first American, so not the one a future collector would want. My husband is reading The Fourth Part of the World by Toby Lester, which I read several years ago and bought the hardback because the cover and jacket is so beautiful. I told him to be careful, as I will be keeping it. He gets a warning because he dropped one of my books while reading in the tub years ago.😂
You know if there isn’t an indie near you… I would say why not start one 😉 That’s a dream of mine one day. I only read proofs or paperbacks in the bath. I’ve learnt my lessons. Lol.
@SavidgeReads Too old for that, I'm enjoying John Dunning's Bookman's Promise, the last Cliff Janeway novel, about buying a Burton collection, amongst other things. I wish I had been able to visit their shop when they had one, may he rest in peace. Plus, I can't spell, Forster, I must have been thinking about Sean Connery's Forester movie. I'll go to the antique shop and do some scouting in Dunning's memory.

this is the first video ive seen of you and it was such a fun one!! now i get to binge your other vids :) and im in love with your shelves!
I’m sooooo pleased you enjoyed it. Hope you come back for more. 😃

Ooooooh I’ll see what I can do. I have slightly limited time and mum even more so but I just looked it up and it looks fabulous.
Ooh Oxford book shopping & Grace Jones 🤗
Didn't get much content in Oxford, gave myself a break lol. Grace Jones was amazing.
“The Wickerman meets Rebecca…” OOOOOHHHH, if that’s true it could be a new favorite for me! I have never heard of the book, thanks so much for the intro.
I hadn’t heard of it either but that quote had me at hello!
A joy as always 😍
Awww thanks Cecilia.

You absolutely must. And we can go to Chaat afterwards for some amazing food. And see the seals at Hilbre Island before. 🦭
@@SavidgeReads amazing!
I bought "But the Girl" recently too (but I'll admit, it was definitely because of the amazing cover).
It is an amazing cover isn’t it!
I just read Deliver Me and I bloody loved it!!! It’s dark!
And very excited for Deliver Me. I like a dark and brooding… and potentially creepy book.
I loved this vlog you two 🎉. Vicarious book shopping so wonderful Thank you 🎉

You may get another one depending on how much book shopping we do tomorrow and in Cambridge in a few weeks.
@@SavidgeReads oh book shopping tomorrow and then in Cambridge …sniff … I wish.. so thank you in advance for that, Simon.
THEM! is soo good. I really enjoyed.
Ooooh, that's made me all the more keen to read it!
Oooo I’m so intrigued by Mouthing
It sound pretty blooming good doesn't it!
Would love for you to visit The Little Green Bookshop in Herne Bay, Kent! Close to Whitstable & Margate ❤
If they invite me down I will be there. It’s a bit out of my way sadly. One day though, I can hope.

PS tomorrow I hope to visit our nearest indie bookshop & no doubt purchase a book (see what they have to tempt me !!) x
Hope they tempted you.

Oh gosh I’d forgotten about those inappropriate remarks, apologies 😬 xx

Oh I have Supplication to read - The movie is The Ring 😱
Yes, I remembered as soon as I had finished filming. Hahaha. Always the way. Very excited for Supplication.
When I buy books I prefer the paperbacks
That’s fair enough.
Grudge/ring! What a sexy selection
Yes, The Ring, I popped it on the screen. I always remember things when I am editing, well... most of the time.
@@SavidgeReads ah I was probably listening rather than watching :) always the way!
Love the Popeye T-shirt ❤
Thank you!!!
The colour of The Milkman is on His Way….. My dad called that colour puce 😂
How funny. I thought puce was pinky brown.
@@SavidgeReads daddy referred to any colour that hurt his try’s as puce.
I shall be visiting the great Kate at Harris & Harris
Awwww send her my love.
@@SavidgeReads shall do
The ring Simon
Hahaha yes. I popped the title in text on the video 😉
Which bookshop is the one you have been to before?
Hahaha. I said. Maybe you blinked and missed it 😉 Libreria.
Oops. 🤭
A Popeye shirt? 🖤
