My Mother passed away in January 2001 and Louis L'Amour was my Mother's all time favorite author she always had one of his books in her hand. Thank you for taking back to wonderful memories of my mom reading her Louis L'Amour books.
I'm so sorry about your mom. You have lovely memories. 💐
Listen. Buying books and reading them are two separate hobbies lol love hauls. I just got five books from BotM. I’m a happy camper lol
Your channel is such a breath of fresh air for me, dude. You have no idea. Finally found someone with similar taste to mine instead of the algorithm feeding me horrible recommendations 😵💫 haha! God bless you, man 👍🏻
Thank you!
Sword of Kaigen is one of my favorites, unforgettable characters!
Tommyknockers is a great read! Go for it!
Agreed!
The Passage is one of my all-time favorite books/series! I truly love the beauty of Cronin’s imagery and the time he takes with plot-building and world-building. If you can make it all the way to the end of book 3…the ending is so satisfying and bittersweet. The audiobook versions are also very well done.
*sighs and opens goodreads*
Octavia Butler’s Kindred is very good too!
Omg so excited for you to read Octavia Butler, Kindred is one of my all time favs!
I loved The Passage. I read it when it first came out and need to continue the trilogy. Great video!
Me too! I completely forgot about the series. I think I read book 1 and 2, but never the third one. Now I need to get back into it XD
Woooooow The Fall!!!!! I’m on book 3 in the series HIGHLY recommend!!
Omg I'm excited for you to read the Sword of Kaigen!
My day is better. Ian has uploaded and he’s buying books 😊
Louis is amazing, I’d recommend William W. Johnstone. Fantastic western/frontier author
Happy Tuesday, Ian. I hope you're doing well, lots of love. God bless x
Currently reading Empire of Silence (about 25%) and I’m blown away by the sheer skill Ruocchio has as a writer. I can just tell that I’m in for something special. You’ve got to get into this one, man.
Also, I added Kingfall to the TBR immediately. That looks so dope, so thanks for putting that on my radar.
Amazing video, just as they always were. Need your inspiration to ignite the fire for my love of book again, Ian! I know you can do it.
Continue shining and striving! Incredibly proud of you!
Love love love book shopping videos! I use Amazon wishlist the same way lol, and to see the price difference when at B&N. I love the Barnes you went to, looks so open and love the high ceilings, and that beautiful majestic view when you exit, WOW. My local one feels like a tight maze lol.
Funny, because I love cosy little nooks at bookstores. My immediate thought was: This store is too bright and open. 😅
Sword of Kaigen is at the top of my list! Super excited for you man and as always another fun video !!
Ryan Cahill's The Bound and the Broken series were my favorite books I read last year.
Hi Ian I love a good book shopping video!! I love when you pull out the big chunky books, I used to be intimidated by them but since watching your videos I get so excited for a nice chunky books!! As always I leave your videos adding books to my never ending TBR! Happy reading!!🩷☺️
Bruh Victors books are all in my to read pile. Looking forward to it
The Fall is the prequel in the Bound and the Broken. One book is over 500+ pages, one is over 800+ pages and the last one is over 1400+ pages. The are two small novellas also which are as large as the Fall. It is amazing how much action is packed in the 110 pages of the Fall. It is awesome.
AHHHH! I just got a copy of The Sword of Kaigen. I'd love to buddy read it, let us know when you start that one.
Sword of Kaigen is so worth it, such a great story! Enjoy!
I'd also be interested in rereading it!
I'm reading sword of kaigen right now because of all the hype on book tube. Dude... you have to read that one asap. It's a 5 star read
I love Louis L'amours poems, Smoke From This Alter. I also love Flint. That brought back memories of listening to the Treasure Mountain, a Sackett family audiobook on road trips with my family. He's the best author for westerns. You can tell he just loved writing.
Your videos always make me want to read more. This sounds like such a good haul, looking forward to the reading vlogs :D
Amazing video! great book haul❤ i got so happy to see you and Ashlynn post
Iannnnnn!!!! another banger as always my man ! you are one of the best booktubers out there and i count myself lucky to have been there at the start. I know that if i ever need a book rec i can always count on you my man! keep up the great work because u make so many peoples day u have NO idea . God bless brother much love
The bound and the broken is best ive ever read
Book of the New Sun! Dammnnnnn!
Ahhhhhh!!!!!! WAKE UP HE POSTED!!!!
Love a good book haul. Happy reading and hope you enjoyed your reads in April!
Gene Wolfe’s Book of the New Sun is easily my favorite series I’ve ever read, it’s the book that got me back into reading, Highly Highly Recommended listening to Alzabo Soup Podcast breakdown of the books as you read, I’d wait to until you’re done Shadow before you start as you stay ahead and to avoid mild spoilers (if any) Brilliant book!
Why do people have such amazing views at like random stores. Those mountains outside of Barnes are majestic and I wish I had that at mine
Same, my B&N is a part of a strip mall so it's parking lot and busy streets. I live in Minnesota so not even good scenery in the distance
I started reading Malice by John Gwynne because of your channel and I’ve just finished it! I loved it so much! Thank you for your amazing videos!!
I love Louis L’Amour. I’ve been reading his work since I was a kid. Highly recommend Last of the Breed and The Walking Drum.
Louis Lamour novels are great. The Sackett series is a great place to get into his work.
Octavia E Butler is fenomenal ❤
yay! hope you enjoy David Estes!!!
Awesome vid! Added Sackett's Land, The Parker Novels and Kingfall to my tbr😂 Thanks man🤘🖖
Because of you and your wife’s channels, I’ve been trying to get back into reading. I’m looking for a book or whole series of books that is like the video game Skyrim. I told this to a friend and he was like “Tolkien lol”.
Cahill has 6 books. This morning I read an email from him. The seventh book is pushed for early next year.
The Sword of Kaigen was great! I’m reading my first Stephen King book now - The Stand - and I’m really enjoying it but it’s LONGG.
It is long
Two Louis Lamour books you should read are, Haunted Mesa and Last of the Breed. Neither are westerns, but in my opinion two good reads.
Your delivery is fantastic. I appreciate it when I can chuckle a sincere chuckle.
Just read Butler's 'Sower'...I'm still deciding what I think of it.
Also gene wolfe is awesome. Surprisingly good. I recommend before hitting book 4 of Suneater to finish the book of the new sun
OMG you gotta read Ryan Cahill's books! They're sooooo goooooooood!
The Hunter is so good. It's true to the time in which it was written (1962). I got it for my brother but decided to see what it was about and I couldn't put it down. I think we have up to book 11 at this point (thank you Thriftbooks!). There were a few movie versions made of this book; Point Blank with Lee Marvin, Payback with Mel Gibson and Parker with Jason Statham. Hope you like this series. ☺
I really can't recommend Asimov's Foundation more! I also love Dune, and found the Foundation trilogy truly interesting in a different way. The broad strokes kind of storytelling in Foundation is so good, I read through the whole trilogy in just a few weeks. Dune and Foundation are both sci-fi classics, and I can see why. Just wonderful, delicious world building and storytelling.
I also have the Gene Wolfe series on my shelf, and it's been waiting for a few years... I tried reading the first book many times, so it can be a difficult read.
Anyways, I'm a new viewer from Finland, I've really liked your book videos! I've got some new additions to my TBR from you :)
Oh my god, this came out just the day I went out bookshopping in a long while - got 7 new books 😭💖
Nice choices! I also saw in that first Barnes and noble video you looked at the fifth heart by Dan Simmons... while I can’t recommend that particular book I can definitely recommend anything else by Dan Simmons especially ‘the terror’ , ‘Ilium’ , and ‘Olympos’
Loooooved this
also guess what I just got an ereader today and I got the ebook of 'the Stand' and I've read a few pages... plan to read more tomorrow but I'm so excited!
GREATTTTTTTTT BOY I MISSED YOUR VIDEOS. please post everyday xD.
I just picked up All The Pretty Horses from goodwill last week. It will be my first cormack book
The best part is the mountain background at 4:07
I'm a big louis L'amour fan but I have been hesitant on starting the sacketts series, I think this might be the right time to start!
If you like dystopian that makes a lasting impression, I highly recommend Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis. It's part of a duology, but can also be read on its own.
Sword of Kaigen is the best book. You should also try Blood Over Bright Haven by the same author
I am super curious to know your thoughts on "Parable of the Sower" after you read it! It is some dark and bleak yet poignant and exploratory worldbuilding in what could become a very real environment. As someone else mentioned, "Kindred" is an amazing book that goes right into the vein of historical fiction + sci-fi so you might really enjoy that as well. Octavia E. Butler is great at making you feel the despair that her characters feel but also reflect and think upon how it shapes itself in reality ~ have fun reading! :)
Please get Tommyknockers!! One of my fav King books
Wow so much stuff that is on my TBR too! Prince of Nothing is one I will be reading in a couple months. Ryan Cahill is on my TBR for this month (yes all of them lol) along with Sword of Kaigen. Suneater is another that will be in the coming months. I'm looking forward to seeign what you think about Kingfall. I pick up a month of Kindle Unlimited a couple times a year to catch up on a couple LitRPG series I like, and Kingfall is one of the other series on there I was looking at getting into next time around.
Kindred by Butler is amazing!!
Loving the content so much Ian!
I want to read The Passage too. I think you just gave me the push to read it this summer 😅
Very cool😊
You should read Davis Ashura! I discovered him at my goodwill bookstore with his book A Testament Of Steel. Such an amazing series and such a cool author with a multiple connecting set of series/worlds!
Your B&N looks so huge!! The Passage was a series on Fox,but they canceled it haha. I believe it opens in a town in Iowa, and if I remember correctly they got the description all wrong lol.
Parable of the Sower let's goooo! Have you read Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, by chance? If not, I'd recommend that one as well. Parable of the Sower and Oryx and Crake are probably my favorite dystopian novels.
AH!! Love your videos, you always give me too much hype to read! Greetings from Costa Rica, I'm currently reading "The Stand" and really enjoying it! God bless you and your beautiful wife ✨
Richard Stark was the motivation/inspiration for The Dark Half by Stephen King. I know you’ve mentioned you’re a fan of his, not sure if you read it or not, really really solid fun story.
Foundation is good, and Shadow of the Torturer is awesome. I'd really like to read Kingfall as well, but I'd like to see someone review it first.
I actually only read Fantasy and romance and the last book kingfall sounds really interesting maybe I’ll give it a try
If you wanna try James Patterson, he does a lot of client books. I never know his yet, but I don’t get very close to. Read one of his books
I loved the Passage. It’s been a long time since I read it but I recall enjoying this first book the most of the trilogy. I would like to re-read the series to see if that’s still the case. The copy you picked up was printed a while ago. The series aired several years ago and only lasted one season. I think content like the Passage does better on another platform than network TV. Perhaps if HBO did the show it would have been better. I hope you enjoy it although with all the other good reads you picked up. 😊
The Richard stark book I was looking at it two minutes before watching your video
📚❤️
I loved this video and I really love u didn't buy another SK book =) And I'm soooo here for you to read Octavia EB, Asimov, C Ruocchio and Sword of Kagen ASAP =D
I finished Empire of Silence last week. It's very rich, like Dune. There is much more universe building for book one, compared to Red Rising.
Louis L'amour has some great standalone also. I recently read my new favourite of his this year called The Burning Hills. Very gritty western of a woumded man being Hunted in a valley by a posse of ranch hands. It dethroned my original favourite Radigan which is also a fantastic western by him if you're interested in westerns, Ian, you can check some of my Bookhaul videos for a few recommendations and I'll have rec videos too soon. Always want to get people into the great wild wild west genre
Fatemarked Epic by David Estes is also five books and around 5000 pages. That series was amazing. I have yet to read Kingfall.
St.Stephens books (it’s an online shop) has the Stephen king set you have on your list on sale! 😅
i freaking love ur videossss!!!!! i hope your day was good :))
I’ve got Sword of Kaigen sitting on my shelf and I have yet to actually read it 😭 I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it! I’m deep in Sanderson’s stuff rn so it’s going to take me a while to get to it lmao
It's worth it!
I saw knightfall on that list… i haven’t dove in but dipped my toes. It’s got me curious for sure
love this! I can't buy any books so its fun to watch other people buy them... (I may have broken my ban a few times but who's counting)
Hello! Please do a review on the patricia Briggs mercy Thompson series! You won’t regret it, the world has to know how good this fantasy world is and its characters! ❤
Awesome video 💯‼️ I really like how you ran towards barnes 😅😊I also want to get into or try The Foundation 😊😅 and the sword of Kaigen 😅😊. No Country for old men is also a film that won an Academy Award . I haven’t seen the film but having you read the book makes want to either watch the film or read the book ? Also you are making me want to try Kingfall so I will wait for your review and opinion on this on 😊😅
You should give Silverlock by John Myers Myers. It’s a pretty good fantasy book that was published in the 40’s.
Hey Ian, have you decided to start Malazan yet? I’m about to take the plunge myself after I finish The Last Argument of Kings and The Shadow Rising. I saw you bought the full series, so I’m wondering if that’s coming soon…
Since you like Harry Potter you should checkout Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy
Omg you picked the book next to Cloud Atlas huhuhu i wished you picked Clout Atlas it’s sooooo good
If you're looking into getting into crime novels, you should look into "Later" by Stephen King that he published a few years ago through Hard Case Crime
Great video!!
I've heard of The Sword of Kaigen and it looks really cool. I'm currently reading Mistborn and I have the Stormlight Archive as well as the Kingkiller Chronicle on my shelf, so I probably won't get it anytime soon. But would anyone recommend it?
Ugh Cormac. He drives me crazy and I swear I won't read another one. ...then I read another. Haha. So he's probably a favorite by now.
Unfortunately, Tommyknockers is the only Stephen King book that I haven't enjoyed. I really forced myself to finish it. 😕 I started reading King in middle school, so I'm looking at going back and reading some of the first ones again (Salem's Lot, The Dead Zone, The Shining, IT, etc...) 😊
ian, i wanted to ask if you had any recs for someone who hasnt read (for fun) in many years, and wants to jump back in. my partner i think would have similar fantasy taste as you, but i don't want to throw him something too long or difficult to read. but i also dont want to throw him anything YA or with too much romance because i don't think he would like that! he's just.. a 35 adult dude lol so i don't know if he'd like my picks 🤣
ps, have you read malice by john gwynne? it recently caught my eye and i thought it sounded like something you'd like. forgive me if you've already mentioned it in the past, i have a bad memory. lol
pps the sword of kaigen has been on my list! sounds incredible
You should really try Mengele Zoo from Gert Nygårdshaug. If it is released in English. It’s a book series that is.. hard to explain. Check it out👍
