Absolute genius arrangement by Geoff, plus perfect execution... VP has outdone themselves with this one.
This arrangement is absolutely gorgeous, which is a major kudos to Geoff. The performance is beautiful and I think the mixing on this one is some of the best work I've heard from Ed, who is amazing in his own right. This song is, I think, my favorite piece they've put out so far this year!
I'd love to hear you react to Geoff Castellucci's version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. His arrangement is extraordinary. Frankly, I've been sick of the song for 40 years - and then Geoff did his magic. It's now one of my top favorite Christmas recordings. I'm riveted to my headphones when it plays.....it's an absolute tour de force.
Every time I listen to it, I have to catch my breath. Same thing with Voiceplay's version of Valhalla Calling.
VoicePlay arrangements are always stunning. Their voices are all so smooth whilst having their own sound and they blend perfectly.
So far, this ranks as one of Voiceplay's masterpieces. I really liked your reaction and sharing with us your enjoyment of this piece.

Love Voiceplay, and in particular what they did with this song - Geoff's arrangement is superb! You really need to use headphones to get the full effect, though! As an opera singer, you might appreciate their version of 'In The Hall Of The Mountain King', feat. Elizabeth Garozzo....they go full out on the theatrics on this one!
I appreciated your reaction at 3:35 when Mr. Eliezer Jacobson let the rock tenor out of the cage. Contrast that line with the smoothness of the opening of his initial solo. Eli has so much control. They all do. Amazing.
They do a karaoke track for their patrons, that is usually what they play during the outro while the patron list rolls. It's a great chance to hear the harmonies a little more clearly.
You've only seen Geoff arrangements, Layne does about half of them, with Eli (tenor) doing a few, maybe more in the future.
Let me make a couple of suggestions - Hellfire from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame (Layne arrangement), Creep by Radiohead (Eli's arrangement), and Drunken Sailor (a different side of Geoff). It's always wise to watch at least until the patron list starts to roll, it ain't always over when you think it's over.
Voiceplay has an hysterical Christmas cover coming in a week or so, Geoff has a new one, not Christmas about the same time line.

This is going down as one of Voiceplay’s best, I think. You should also check out In the Hall of the Mountain King (something like that).
Great reaction!! If you’re looking for something Christmas themed to check out, go to Elliott Robinson’s channel and watch “Not So Mean” (his reaction to the Grinch song). it’s original, very creative, and Elliott also has a gorgeous low bass. Voiceplay will have something for Christmas as well and it’s going to crush it, whatever it is. And The Bass Gang just dropped their Christmas tune “All I want for Christmas Is You”.

How low can Geoff go? He has had sustained B0s in the _HALO Theme_ and, I believe, _Valhalla Calling_ . He may have actually touched on an A0 in a slide down at the end of their cover of _Enemy_ .
