Very good bikes. Unfortunately many have been poorly maintained and have become sheds but a good one is hard to beat. I had DR Bigs and again, such great bikes. My last one was modified with better suspension and brakes etc and was really good as an all rounder and travel bike. Did thousands of miles on it around Europe and was super reliable. I now have a world raid which I love. It's not 39 years better though and it doesn't fit me like the DR Big did. I do miss the old school Dakar bikes. They were ahead of thier time in my opinion.
As I have just bought a super tenere, for me this video was music to my ears. I am now in a situation where I have entered the adv world four years ago and brought a lot of friends with me on the journey. Everyone has now bought brand new bikes like the world rally/ raid and other new models. I have always liked older bikes more than the new ones and I was over the moon when I bought the tenere. Since I am the “underdog” in this situation I can’t wait to prove them wrong and bring them a tough match with all your mods and recomendations Thank you Thomas
Great video, thank you. My 31 year old Tenere is more than capable of keeping up with a modern t7 for most of what we do off road. Can you share a little more info on how you made the phone holder bracket?
@@davesnowpros6785 I've made one that bolts on the std headlamp and clocks frame, comes out with 4mm thick plate between clocks plastic holder and frint fairing as there is a gap there anyway, quite easy just time consuming, charger obviusly straight from the batt with fuse etc. If you remove your clocks you'll see just under them there is a nice plate with 2 holes to use, those holes are used to keep the clocks in place, I use aftermarket clocks so no need it anymore.
@@zurawskimotorsporttook it all apart today and see the holes you're talking about. I'll have a go with fabricating a bracket. Thank you for replying.

@@victorwinqvist4277 scorpion, not sure what bike it was for originally, bought it second hand on eBay, usually I get pretty big silencers as for bigger capacity bikes so they're not restrictive and sound deep. Throttle command is domino with some good Teflon lined lines, and definitely a genuine yamaha clutch pack and springs so you can add some lenght to the lever on the clutch cover and have it really light and modular .

Nice!! 3LD!!
Just got the same bike to restore. Yours is AMAZING. Did you manufacture a new bracket for the headlights, or do they fit in the original one?
Great video, thank you.
