    I am restoring a ‘58 Ford 861 Powermaster. Same year as me.

    If it is a 1954 it is not an 8N but a Jubilee as you noted. 8N's were not made after '52 then the Golden Jube in '53 and the plain Jube after that for a couple of years. I have an 8N and a Golden Jube. Enjoy your vids though.

    • @roncrawford7128
      @roncrawford7128 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not a jubilee either. 1954 would be the NAA. Jubilee was 1953 model only.

    • @jimbuford4147
      @jimbuford4147 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@roncrawford7128 The Golden Jubilee with that insignia on the nose was only made in 1953. After that like you say the NAA but a lot of folks still called them a Jube but just not the Golden Jube.

    I'm getting ready to start on a 1952 I think. It's got a Funk conversion 6 cylinder and a Sherman Hi/Low transmission.

    Thank you for the great video. I am a fellow, brand-new ;0), 1952 Ford 8N w/ Sherman transmission owner! Free advice: Definitely convert it ot the 12 Volt, and look into the high lumen LED Headlights (you'll light up outer space with those puppies). You're doing a great restore.

    Nice job! I just picked up an 8N that I brought out of the Georgia woods and will be a working tractor and not a show piece. SN is 8N8722. Brakeds are soaked in oil and the right brake cam needs to be built up and reground to get it to work properly. Runs great but needs new manifold gaskets. Had to rework the distributor contactor from the coil to get spark. Not sure what year it is. It had been sitting in a barn unused for several years.

    Beautiful tractor , I am going to look at at a barn find tomorrow , the guy says it's a 9n but I see in the pictures that it's has a overhead valve engine and a round circle fixture on the hood , so it's gotta be a jubilee series I think . It has sat for over 25 years in a barn . The pictures look pretty good . I'm here on the Big Island Hawaii . Wish me luck . I hope it's not a rust bucket .

    I just hope you put a bunch of 3/8th inch nuts in the gas tank before painting the outside, and shook till every spec of rust was dislodged from inside the tank before painting the outside. I am not a fan of coating the inside, because when the fuel sits for extended periods I am not sure anything will not break down over time to plug the filter.

    good afternoon I have a question I have a Ford tractor 8n with a front distributor when I'm driving it it starts to backfire sometime only could it be my carburetor or engine going out??

    • @AimlessMoto
      @AimlessMoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carburetor, or it could be the coil giving you a weak spark. Try cleaning the points, and see if it gets better, if not, probably the coil.

    how did you remove the upper lift arms ? I hear they are difficult to remove ..

    • @AimlessMoto
      @AimlessMoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ben Stah (bs495) The 3 point hitch upper arms came off fairly easy. Remove one side retainer (2 bolts and a washer) then put a pry-bar between the arm and the 3-point housing and pry it off slowly. Once it moves about 1/2 an inch, you can get a large drift punch and hit it off with a hammer. Then you can do the other side. If it's stubborn, you've got to pull out the blue-torch and get some heat into it... then douse it with PB blaster and let it sit for a few hours. It'll break loose.

    They didn't make an 8N after 1952. 1953 was the year of the Jubilee and 1954 was the first year for just the NAA. Easy to get it confused.

    • @AimlessMoto
      @AimlessMoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can find 9N and 8N repair manuals on eBay and Amazon for $20-30. They're honestly so simple to work on you don't need it. The only things a manual is good for is to rebuild the 3 point hitch/draft control under the seat and rebuilding the motor. Tractor Supply company will sell most of the larger things you'll need, exhaust, manifolds, nuts and bolts, filters, gaskets, lables, even paint. I suggest subscribing or picking up some copies of "N News". It's a very reliable source for all things "Ford" tractor. Good luck!

    That's not a '54 it's not even a '52 that is a '48 to early '50 the distributor is on the front of the motor late '50 to '52 is on the side of the motor '53 is the golden jubilee

    • @AimlessMoto
      @AimlessMoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a 52'. I'll get back to you with the serial number, but it checks out to be a 52'. The 53' Jubilee motor is completely different from the 8N, it's an over-head valve motor and all of them (600/800etc) were side-mount distributors. This 52' is a side-mount distributor... YES, it goes into the front cover, but it is considered a side-mount... if it were a front-mount, you wouldn't be able to see it just by looking at the tractor, you'd have to get up under the side and follow the plug wires up to the front of the engine behind the fan.

    The Ford 8n was in Production from 1948 - 1952. Kind of doubt what you have there is an 8n. I have an 1948 8n and what you have there is not like it. My 8n has the high and low range. not as rare as you make it sound.
