But I don’t think a lot of anime take into account DID because DID rarely appears in countries outside of America and therefore that’s where most of the research takes place. They don’t really have much info on DID nor is it a hot topic for them, so I do not think they would intentionally make something an allegory for DID :) I think a lot of times they just use the “this character takes on a completely different persona” as a plot device because they view it as an unattainable extreme or to elicit a sort of sympathy from the audience. If that makes sense? But yes I agree this is one of the more tame instances of a character experiencing something similar to DID in anime/media. People with DID shouldn’t be villainized!
