      this helped me remember that the world is still kind please read this: my father died years ago my brother just died a month ago my mom never comes home I’m at home by myself I have to work at a gas station to get some money for myself then I have to do tons of chores after that my dogs died my cat is the only thing I have this YT account is my only thing I have left of my brother the only other thing that brings tears to my eyes is when I go back to my old house where me and my brother and my dogs and mom moved out of I asked the people who live in the house if I could see the old room me and my brother used to share I told them to not change it and they listened so I have no one else to rely on and you know it’s really hard for me so thank you…

    Still, I envy people who've never experienced this. I've dealt with it for over 40 years and wouldn't wish it on anyone. My heart goes out to everyone who has battled this, and especially those who could not take it anymore.

But also, I dandy understand how hard depression was myself until my little brother passed away, I lost my job while I was pregnant and also single bc my ex left bc he “didn’t want anymore kids“, my case broke down and a handful of other traumas within a 6 month period ... It was too much! I am still trying to pull my head above the water after 6 yrs... We can all do it though! I have faith in us all! ❤

      wakeup at 4am everyday, go for a one hour run, come home at 5am and so 100 pushups, 100 situps. Aim for a 6-pack. Sounds ridiculous i know but honestly being up so early clears your head and the journey to the 6-pack will be so good seeing progress and your life will be fulfilling. Once you get that 6-pack you will feel unstoppable. Whilst everyone is sleeping getting weaker and resting, you are awake, running, grinding, and getting stonger. You will truly feel like a warrior and no one can touch you. Dont let this horrible feeling rule your day, because it wont stop until you fix it. You got this..

    Been feeling half of these for almost 12 years, I’m 21 btw. Sometimes it feels like it will never go away, one thing is being 16 and depression beginning, but another is being 10 and having your childhood stolen from you due to this, not knowing how you feel, why you feel the way you do until you hit middle school at age 13. Now I have more clarity and once again I’m backed against a wall with constant flashbacks to the last few memories I had of happiness and the sudden realizations of the very beginning of this thing. All I can say is that therapy, people, goals will never get me out of this because a decade of depression completely sends you to another dimension, where you have to build you life around it, to the people who will tell me it’s possible to live free, thank your brain for being healthy, you don’t get it and that’s something to be thankful for. You’re right I can breathe, I have all my limbs, toes, fingers, I’m privileged to have a roof, food, live in a privileged country (USA) however that’s the thing with depression it turns off all the lights and sends you into blindness in which you can’t see that. During the past 2 years of clarity that I’ve gotten about my situation, the best I can describe these past 11 years is like sleepwalking while being in a coma, you’re just walking through life without any realization of what’s going around you, you always feel 2 steps behind everything, it’s like life is just walking beside you, a coma is being blind, you can hear what people say, you hear all the scolding they tell you but they can’t hear you, they can’t see or understand what you see, what you feel, you’re alive but you’re forgotten, feel abandoned, isolation. 10 years hurt more than 1 year or 5 because when the 10 mark hits you still feel the pain but at the same time feel numb, it’s harder to comprehend even for yourself, it feels even more hopeless, think of it as a tree, you can’t yank it out, you have to cut through the layers and even that can hurt especially if you have no protection, once all is gone there’s still a stump there and you have to go back and dig into that stump and yank it out and once that’s done you can see the roots and all that once existed, but then what will you do after that stump is gone and it’s just a hollow pit? If you have been feeling depressed for years or months please please seek help, it’s still in its early stages and the branches are still sprouting, and it’s easier to cut a sprouting branch than one that’s already turned into bark. Do it for yourself, save yourself while you still can. ❤

    I didn't know I had depression. At the time I was so stressed and demotivated but I felt like I was acting like a spoilt child who was sleeping all day instead of getting my work done. My university offered free counseling so I signed up and towards the end of our sessions they recommended that I see a psychologist at a practice. The main reason I started counseling was so that I could talk to someone I didn't know without feeling judged and wouldn't worry my parents. But they kept recommending it so I caved and phoned my mom and asked her if it was okay to go to 1 session. She was SO EXCITED and worried at the same time. Literally 10 minutes in the hour long session the psychologist said that she thinks I'm suffering from depression and recommended I got to a psychiatrist to see if it's true or not. 30 minutes into that session the psychiatrist said "you've been to 3 counsellors in the span of 2 months, you need help ASAP" and prescribed me anti-depressant. It's been a really long 2 year struggle but I'm starting to feel better. But those "just get it together" comments still trigger me, especially other people who say "I have depression too but I'm doing alright" those literally CRUSHED me

    I've got all of the nine which seemed like more than that. Many describe deppression as a sharp pain. I describe it as blunt pain like a hammer. And its constant. That hammer keeps hitting and hitting. Even when the hitting is done, the pain still remains for a long, long time and when the pain is gone, a mark is still present. Deppression smis the hardest thing to get out of. Idk how but people managed to cure it. Mine is like cancer. Killing me slowly and incurable.

      I feel the same way. I got one advice for you if you haven't tried it yet.
      Start taking medications.
      Nothing came even remotely close to help me with depression. And well, how could it? When it's bad enough, trust me, nothing can help, BESIDES medication.
      Antidepressants saved my life.
      The best part about it, is that unlike in therapy, you don't need to force yourself to think or act differently than your natural instinct. In medication, all you have to do is take it, it will do it's own even without your help.
      Of course, as long as it's the right medication for you.
      It's a life saver. I'm not a psychiatrist. I'm speaking as someone who suffers from depression and took it.
      Let me tell you, after 2 months of using it, depression barely existed in me(symptoms wise, and mood).
      Of course, some of the things still remain, even after significant improvement and a remission of an episode(at least its like that for me). Lack of motivation, and lack of real pleasure(altough it does significantly improve with medication, you still don't feel truly happy in positive events, but it's not as bad as it is when you're during an episode), while also still having a slightly weak mentality.
      But it helps DRASTICALLY.
      The leftovers are manageable, and don't interfere that much with your life.
      Please, try taking medication. It's the only thing that will help you get back to your life, if nothing else helped.
      Wish you well.

I have many of the symptoms of depression, so I must be depressed, but in spite of all the hard times, I'm still happy that my cats and dogs are around me, I get joy out of watching birds in my backyard, which is not the biggest or the most beautiful backyard, but it's still the place where I can relax a little. I do wish everyone all the best. I hope depression does not ruin your life completely, and I hope you'll eventually get over it.

    The fact that i’ve been having nearly all of these symptoms for over a year and the thought of going to a therapist never popped in my head makes me really scared for my future, family and friends when they find out what i’ve been dealing with, and also the fact that i thought these symptoms happened to everyone else around me has kinda got me feeling insecure now that i’ve been researching depression quite a bit recently, and i’ve genuinely considered suicide not long after i thought one of my long-distance friends killed himself, when he was just in a two month long coma from the failed attempt. I’ve only opened up with one of my friends and my girlfriend because i somehow trust them more than anything, even my own parents and the rest of my family. I should consider getting a therapist but i have trouble speaking to others due to severe social anxiety and a really bad stuttering problem so now i dont bother. My confidence has also taken a massive downward slope because ive been showing a lot of symptoms for parkinsons, the strange thing being im 17 years old and i thought it only affected certain older people. So now my life is just confusing and sad because of all this stuff, and im just scared. Hopefully someone sees this and tries to help me

The problem with Indian families is that we think that depression is not something real and that a person is only sad from some things but that is so wrong i found it the hard way. She had too much zeal to clear competitive exam that she couldn’t think of anything else other than it. She seldom went to any family functions, was an extreme introvert and very emotional. Once she was left alone and she hanged herself in her study room at home. I get chills looking at the room now. I somehow hope that some day she will come through the front door from school with her inncoent smile on her face. It has been more than a week now that she left us 😞

    How do psychologists distinguish between someone with a chemical imbalance that is causing these symptoms and someone who has a lifestyle or set of circumstances that is causing them? If the cause of these symptoms is external, medication and therapy would seem to have little to no effect. Regardless, there is a financial incentive in America for medical professionals to promote the idea that their patient is suffering from a disease so they can justify a regiment of medication and/or therapy.

    • @alexisocasio6739
      @alexisocasio6739 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Run a blood test to diagnose an imbalance, treat that imbalance for a while and check back for depression some time after. It’s also very possible to have depression caused by several different things, in which case, more treatment is necessary.

    • @shawnaford5540
      @shawnaford5540 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      First off the chemical imbalance for depression is not accepted, yet AD’s do seem to make changes in the brain that help some people. Some like SSRI’s do not help anhedonia. So it is complicated.
      A full physical examination is always the starting point before any depression diagnosis. And then a psychiatrist with a psychologist can be most useful.
      It is complicated and there can be layers as our lives are complicated as well.

      @@leftthatbehind6090 I'm in total agreement with your comment. I speak from personal experience, as a person with a diagnosis of chronic, long term depression, my first reaction was ,'Well no shit! I guess I have a good reason to be here now with this diagnosis!' I'm the daughter of two alcoholic parents. Come from a broken home. My mother was chronically ill from the age of 30 with a rare auto immune disease, undiagnosed for 20 years. It manifested as Rheumotoid Arthritis & she suffered horribly with the crippling Arthritis, severe pain & drank excessively for some relief. She also had a history of severe depression, had attempted suicide in her 20's by suffocation with a plastic bag over her head. My father saved her life! This was years before my brother or I were born. The topic of depression was never even brought up in those years! It's complicated, deeply seated pain. From abuse, trauma, loss, it runs deep through family histories. Emotional, psychological, cultural effects that drive dysfunctional coping behavoirs that result in serious outcomes throughout the years & years. Healing is so painful & such hard work! It's amazing we've come this far ahead of the all the layers over the generations. Many don't make it through. I'm now just turned 66 years, just recently have come out of a a 6 month deep funk of depression that snuck over me last winter of 2021. I currently have two adult sons with serious issues, both suffer from Depression, one has spoken of suicide on & off since Jr. High age. Has had multiple rounds with counciling, is challenged with many developmental issues, & is fighting to overcome & move forward to claim his own life path. Thank goodness. I've considered suicide in the last 25-30 years, but keep fighting to move forward & live with joy & gratitude. My older son is currently & finally able to address his history issues of declining health & depression. Thank goodness! Plase don't give up! Help is available!.All can dial 988 now. It is a choice to reach for help. I didn't mean to be preachy or over share my personal issues. Sorry if I've offended anyone. Take care. It can & does get better with time & effort. One minute I’m happy and motivated, I fantasize my career and my love life, I get butterflies picturing how great life is going to be, but then I get this weird cloud of negativity where I just want to lay in bed all day and do nothing. When I get this low feeling I don’t want to work, I don’t want to go to school, I don’t talk to family or friends and in my mind I just want to curl up into a ball and be alone forever. It sucks because my parents think it’s just me being lazy, but I know what being lazy is like. I don’t want to be a loser who has no friends, no job, and no passions, but when I get the low feeling I just have no interest in doing anything aside from laying in bed away from everybody. It just sucks to go from motivates to sad and having no control over it.
