    At one point of my musical journey, I would of been considered an Elitist. I just liked what I liked. But as I've gotten older I've realized there's alot of great music out there, and I want to find it! Thank You for bearing with me on the beginning stages of this channel. Feel free to request any song.

    Amon Amarth is to norse mythology and viking history kind of what Sabaton is to military history. They're one of the bands that got me into extreme metal, much because it's never hard to hear the words despite Johan has such a deep growl voice. They have a way of making the listener feel like a viking warrior ready to stand his ground against any enemy without fear, for if you get slain the valkyries will bring you to Valhalla. Also i think they're the worlds only band that creates a "rowing pit" where the crowd sits down and pretends to row a viking ship.

    Heidrun is a the goat that stands on the roof of Valhalla, gracing from the tree Læraðr (interpreted as Yggdrasil, the world tree). Every night, Heidrun fills a tub with meed from her udder and the tub is so large that the fallen heroes, the einherjar, the warriors of Odin, can drink and feast as much as they like.
    Heiðrún heitir geit,
    er stendr höllu á
    ok bítr af Læraðs limum;
    skapker fylla
    hon skal ins skíra mjaðar;
    kná-at sú veig vanask.

    My recommendation has nothing to do w/ Amon Amarth, but it's a band I absolutely love and would love to share w/ you: BLIND GUARDIAN
    I recommend Mirror Mirror, Time Stands Still (at the Iron Hill) and And Then There was Silence.
    90% of their songs are based off of Fantasy books and stories, and they even have a full album dedicated to Tolkien's Silmarillion, called Nightfall in Middle Earth.
    If you come to like them, I wouldn't mind seeing a stream of their Imaginations Through The Looking Glass DVD lol

    What a mix, heavy rock, melodies and also a bit of the German ummpah. Never ceases to amaze me how all these Scandinavian/European bands have such good English, even when they are interviewed it's hard to even detect an accent. Lead singer reminds me of Robbie Savage (Ex Welsh Footballer) with a beard. Great stuff as usual Cosmic, thank you.

      @@TheWolffAndTheMelody Hi Cosmic, No not on any social media, I'm in my late fifties, grew up during the punk/new romantic era, which I think drives my passion for the symphonic metal. There were no computers, mobile phones, so technology kinda passed me by. TH-cam is about as far as it goes for me, and it's people like you that make me keep coming back for more. The vast majority of the music you discover strikes a chord with me, not all but hey it's a good job we all don't like the same thing all the time. Not sure the new romantic era would be to your taste, and anyway it's virtually a dead genre from the early 80's.
      Thanks for the daily updates, it's the one thing I look forward to most when opening youtube, waiting to see what you have up your sleeve for us.

      It helps that we from an early age start learning English in school, at least here in Sweden. Plus dubbing things is not that common (subs over dubs) unless it is for a kid's movie/show.

    Its fun but you need the heavier Amon Amarth. Twilight of the Thunder God ( a must), Deceiver of the Gods or Death in Fire will definitely float your viking boat.

      So my elitist mindset was on most bands except for the few I liked. I just felt like what I listened to was the best and nothing would compare. So I refused all genres

    I've seen them in El Paso TX. And I liked their music but the singer to me wasn't my favorite. Very hard to understand in some songs. In this song he's much clearer. The Riffs kick ass

    This was actually quite a big disappointment from AA. I love them, specially live shows, but this song was a weakling. Man, take a look at anything from Twilight of the Thunder God - it crushes this.
