He forgot the Player buff limit, which meant that Players would remove Hots or helpful buffs due to buffcap. Or the griefing it enabled of throwing off world buff due to useless buffs.

@@thedungeon1578 Well I had to negoatiate between Healers and Warriors for this way too often to forget.
I did this in Lineage 2. Those world boss tanking swordsmen orcs ABSOLUTELY loved the underwater breathing buff, increased weight limit and increases to magic attack.
As much as it sucked taking our guild 50ish weeks to get me my Thunderfury, it kind of made it that much more special. It actually felt legendary, and you could absolutely feel the difference the item made. In fact, some non legendary items should have a very noticeable impact on your character as well. Itemization is more fun when it's not just the next level of the same item over and over again. This should also apply to the leveling experience as well. Whirlwind Axe for example was a huge jump in power for a lvl 30-40 warrior.

The comment about the drop rate is very accurate. I remember playing classic and questing in the Barrens. The quest required me to obtain 14 boar hearts. So I'm like this will be easy. All I need to do is kill 14 of them. Well, I was wrong. Not every boar dropped a heart. As a matter of fact, only about one third of them dropped a heart, and I'm thinking, how are these things alive without a heart? 🙃
A perfect game is a boring game, 2023 gamers to obsessed with having everything work correctly then when they get everything ever wanted they log off never to return. The magic of games is often the imperfections and working around them.
I think the strangest thing about the whole vanilla wow, was that blizzard released a big mmo with many zones where there were no quests? Hinterlands and Searing gore examples! It was much later before they released quests there? And some of the rare/epic items so horrible wrong!! like - Skullforge Reaver ? or Lion Horn of stormwind LOL

spell batching was good but not how blizzard redid it. it created lots of cool unique interactions in pvp people still remember til this day. such as a lot of clips in like reckful 3 were all possible because of spell batching like reckful gouging blink because he knew a mage was going to blink etc
Yeah, whoever didn't like the spellbatching probably just didn't play ele shammy or never oneshotted a paladin that is trying to hs+bubble inside that 0.4sec timeframe when bubble is over but paladin didn't port yet.

400ms made the most jankiest stuff ever, also how the 400ms was applied to literally everything (even interactions with NPCs)

Bopping the dead party member is my favorite!
World buffs and huge PVP raids fighting to not lose them in BRM was some of my best moments of Classic. WB really became a toxic chore with dire maul/ZG/Moon. When it was just Ony/flower, it was great.
Some quests were so annoying and time consuming that i couldn't be bothered. Definitely agree with a lot of these but all in all classic was a good ride.
the worst part of any version of classic wow is the 'meta' mind set
people really think you need the 'best meta spec' to clear CLASSIC content "oh you're going to deal slightly less dps with 'x' spec? guess you're not getting an invite"
the community has truly ruined classic.
second worst part of classic is the fact that they released ZERO new content. Absolutely no gear tweaking, spec balancing, quest revamps, PVP changes, etc. They really did absolutely NOTHING to the game.
Phase 1. Un goro crater. my level 58 rogue stealing all the leathers, the chaos, the pvp, the mafia, logging on at odd hours just to getall the devilsaur spawns for a while. It was beautiful, glorious, a time and fun never to be seen again. I am satisfied.

I hit level 60 and started just botting cause I was bored of farming gold lol, so got banned later came back in tbc and currently playing
I did some raiding in vanilla. Guild basically starting falling apart after wotlk, along with me. No time

Note that people duplicate log more often in classic, so it is not AT ALL a reliable metric. 29 million DPS parses to 27k guilds in classic = 1074 DPS parses per guild that has cleared naxxramas. I doubt that there are this many unique characters raiding in WoW. In comparison, retail has 3.7 million DPS parses to 12k guilds in normal difficulty, or a ratio of 308 dps parses per guild.
Ultimately, number of guilds killing bosses in the raid and logging tend to be a much, much more reliable metric, where you'd get 27k for classic and 12k for retail.
Also those parses are comparing a finished tier to a tier thats only been out a few months.
I played Hunter on a vanilla Private Server.. Apparently Ranged Weapons are only for Warrior. I won the Roll on Starstriker, didnt get the Weapon. On The Gun in MC? Didnt get the Weapon. I reserved the Gun in AQ40 and it dropped... didnt get the Weapon. My Bow was still blue! But apparently one Warrior needed 2 more Attack-Power. The ONLY ranged Weapon they say im allowed to get, (aside from the very Buggy impossible Hunter Quest, because Buggy) was the Crossbow from Blackwing Lair. And of course thats why we had like 9 Hunters in the raid On a 5% drop chance by the way. Fu.. this. Hunters doesnt get shit. Thank god the raid had one good Thing, I spotted My old Character in the Group, which meant i sold him, and that allowed me to buy the very best Ranged Naxx Weapon in the Game.

World buffs made classic unique. It gave a reason to go out in the open world. Imagine if we didn’t have world buffs… there’s no reason to leave SW/Org. World pvp was fucking nuts! I loved the drama on discord! The only thing I would change is allowing chronoboom be available on launch and removing warchief blessing or making it available for alliance as well
Yeah instead people get thier buffs then log out for the week
World buffs still suck imo, the raids are ez enough to do without them and yet a guild could force you to get them because tryhards

Loot was pretty bad in classic, it took me 3 months to gear my mage in bwl gear, but with my hunter i got full Bis in 2 weeks! BwL always dropped hunter gear
took me like a year to get my crossbow from bwl lol
that xbow never drops. took a while to get it. I got slavemaker a week after. lmao
It took me more time to get Rhok'delar than the cross bow in BWL, i guess i was lucky to get it in the first run, but all the time i did BWL Dragonstalker set always dropped.
I got SIX, 1,2,3,4,5,6 PIECES in ONE RAID DAY on my warrior from TOC and ZA combo raid night.
SIX pieces, it was like a 500 gearscore jump in one single raid night.
Now I'm bored as hell.

@@Krelian89 I think I only saw 2 Ashjrethul drops. 1 when I was not on my hunter and the other one was when I got it. I have seen so many DFTs tho. I got one on my rogue.
I think people generally have rose coloured glasses when it comes to WoW Classic. Yes it had some amazing points, but the MMO genre as moved on for a reason.
The 8 debuff limit does dramatically change play styles in the raid. I know cause I raided on nostarius back in the day and they had an 8 debuff limit. Tbh I think its a good thing for the beginning of the game. It buffs content in a way that is Authentic to the vanilla experience. It makes fights like Ragnaros much harder than you would expect. In a way its kinda like how modern raids work where they are made very hard at the start and are systematically nerfed as time goes on. Doing bwl with an 8 debuff limit will make that raid significantly harder. at the start and when ZG is released they can up the 16 debuff limit as a nerf to the previous content.
Man, raiding as warlock in Vanilla sure was fun. I got to cast shadow bolts and basically nothing else.
remember going to my first molten core and getting told I could only cast shadow bolt, boy was I excited when we got to Garr and I was told I could only cast banish.
Even in ZG, I was told "Cast Curse of Elements and you can just afk if you want" because I was the only warlock and we had 8 mages.
And bottom dps lol
Yeah, my shadowbolt spam wasn't great, but I also didn't respec from Demonology.
I find it hillarious how 99% of the good stuff in classic wow was ripped from other MMOs back in the day, while the few bad systems it had were the original ones blizzard came up with

Classic wow was the most fun iteration of wow I played. Even tho I played it back in 2004 I never did the raids and sucked ass at it but going into classic I had no idea what I was expecting but it was a special time for me that's for sure. Found an amazing guild that cleared all the raids together did world pvp with a bunch of guilds on the servers ran a bunch of GDKPs towards the end of classic and made tons of gold. Got Field Marshall which was definitely not worth it do not recommend but It was an experience that's for sure. Basically all around good time in classic wow for me. Would I do it again? No, I don't think so. And that's all i gotta say.
Same, except I was horde. But literally the same experience. Did a lot of playing with friends in 2004, but nothing past a bit of MC and 1 or 2 BWL raids where I didn't know what I was doing. Then in classic I did every raid, had full gear from each phase by the time the next one came out, and still managed to do a ton of pvp and had nearly 300k honorable kills on my way to rank 13 (never made 14). Tons of work and basically became a full time job, but had a great guild and a ton of fun.

the level 1-60 vanilla experience with pvp and everything is the BEST mmo leveling experience ever made imo. TBC? hot ass wrath? giga ass 1-60 feels so special
I'm still mad I never got the Edge of Chaos from Nefarian back in vanilla, and the only time Askhandi dropped someone else got it and quit the guild a day later.

enchanting trainer outside must be an alliance thing because i remember having to actually do the damn dungeon to skill up.
Yea diremaul ogres giving you a potion instead of buffin you would have been cool, also just pickin the songflower and consuming it in raid, it would be pretty easy to makw the raid buffs consumables

I played up till nax, world buffs were the most toxic sht ive ever seen in gaming
Fun fact: spell batching as shit as it was is what kept vanilla WOW stable
Retail WOW doesn't have it, when open world PVP happens on retail between more than 10 players, the server chokes and dies, and who ever started it will probably get banned for server disruption.

How tf do an enemy doesn't loot his head, or his tail. Or even A FUCKING SCALE ON A DRAGON WITH THOUSANDS OF SCALES.
It just doesn't make any sense. And also, why. Just why do you collect all of thoses.

If it's for a proof, you don't need a proof actually, when a camp lose 15 people, it shows. No need for the heads of every random mobs.
Same for items. Excuse me sir, why isn't the full plate enemy dropping an armor, or weapon.
It could just loot a Grey crappy item, like scraps of broken armor for the logic part. Why are we leaving their armor and weapons, when we obviously need money.
When it comes to end game armor/weapon, I think the way it was done is normal, you need to farm thoses armors, or else it's useless, but I would see it another way, with items you farm and exchange to a legendary hidden Smith. It doesn't make any sense to have an elemental that just came on azeroth, loot human size armors and weapons, and it isn't interesting at all to keep looting useless other class items.
tbh think the world buff meta made it better. Imagine raiding through classic with 0 world buffs, wouldve felt so bad. Current classes in wotlk feel like classes were with world buffs in classic imo. For warrior anyway.
I always get shit on for saying this but I would never play classic. The quests were boring, the loot is bad, the classes are clunky and bad. No fluidity. I actually was extremely bored when leveling in classic. There are so many QoL changes in retail and I don't want to relieve bad/old systems just because some people have nostalgia.
Retail>Classic for me.
Classic wow is complete anarchy, which is most enjoyable from a distance. Be that from a pure spectating perspective or looking back at it and remembering it, but being in the middle of it sucked.

I really dont get spell batching. There were so many private servers where it ran just fine without it and nobody wanted batching ever. Sadly i quit because of it in the first classic servers. The second ones were way too dead to try again :/
because most if not all private servers run classic from a WOTLK version, not the actual classic files. And spell batching was removed by WOTLK.
Leveling was a test of patience to try not to hang myself. I guess you can say it was a "journey"?
@@daroaminggnome leveling literally had quests of collecting 10 murloc heads, you spend 40 to an hour on that quest alone, and you’ve only got like 4 of them, and you’d see that type of quest again and again, what’s the difference between endgame farming and that?

They had CIA ex? employees working for them. I swear they were just using this as a social experiment sandbox. OK, let's see how far we can abuse them before they break. Fast forward achievements, only dropping one glaive, Rng wrapped in Rng wrapped in RNG. Let that sink in... Remember when gear had to drop for you off a boss, you had to be able to wear it, then it needed to be socketed, and then it needed to be empowered. Now reproduce that 16 times for the other slots and you have video game heroin. Might be a law suit for Blizzard one day lol.

Seeing world buffs for the first time is so badass, like seeing everyone in stormwind was super epic especially like half a year into classic.
But like yeah I could see it sucking to get xD
there should be an NPC representing chromie that offers all the powers of the old world at the start of every raid, giving everyone the option of taking world buffs and if they refuse they should get given extra loot for their efforts. Makes it fun for everyone.
Warlocks being told to up your DPS in raid was infuriating... I can't fking up my dps as I can't use half my spells >.

My warlock was always top 5 dps...
They also should have increased loot by minimum double in raids. It got so repetitiv.

All this being said, I think “no changes” had to be done in order to prove that “some changes” is better.
ranking system is ok when the ranking system is personal so you need 500k for bracket 1 everyone who reach 500k honor is in bracket 1 and everyone has fun
If you lost raid healing to spell batching then you should never heal again. It's literally the only job where you have to predict the next 10-15mins.

I remember mocking the DKs in my Guild because i played Retri Pala (you’ll find it way down in the chart in the "go fuckin respec to heal or tank" section) and i regularly beat them hard on the damage meters 😂 And we knew back then it was bad!
Spellbatching sounds great if you want the classic experience you should suffer same as in the past. But now you know that the game wasn't as good as you think
Our guild saw x1 staff of shadow flame in about 16 runs
Our first crul'shorukh has dropped also like 3+ months into BWL and we've seen like total of two of them. Poor orc warriors in our guild. Only one gigachad UD 2h war with the Bonereaver's edge couldn't care less.

In Vanilla a 2 handed enhancement shaman would wreak shit.... it was very much like a Feral Druid, Arms Warrior, or Holy Pally in full tier 2.... Tell me you didnt play Vanilla without telling me you didnt play Vanilla.... Asmon I was there. Ok Bruh.

One thing I would add, because its personal. Attaining Atiesh.
It was BS compared to Thunderfury! I spent the better part of all of vanilla helping countless Warriors farm Thunderfury. (Zero benefit to myself. Om addition to countless other things I sacrificed or gave to my raid). Then when it comes MY turn with Atiesh? Na. At best your raid will get 2 before TBC came out. And its not just others of your class you have to compete with to be picked to get it, like Warriors. No. You are up against EVERY SINGLE OTHER CLOTHIE.
Getting Ateish was the ONLY reason I played classic (Im a casual, and I know the toll raiding takes on me). I busted my ass to do everything I possibly could to put myself at the top of the list for Atiesh. But get saddled with one greedy guild master/raid leader, and the wind blows the wrong way the day it comes to decide who those 1-2 Ateishes go to and... Some how you get told you are basically 12th on the list, behind guys who attend about 1 raid a week and thats it.
Dpnt get me wrong. The people at the very top of the list over me were fine choices. In the end, it will come down to comparing apples to oranges when trying to pick someone. But the REAL issue is that things were not changed in a way to help a more proportional amount of people get Ateish before TBC was out.
I am still very salty over my Classic experience with that. I will not return. So I just hope Blizz finds a way to bring the quest back from the trading post so I cam farm it on retail, and be done with it.
Everyone is laughing because Asmongold always needed on everything for his Warrior back in classic. However, what's ironic, is that he has always been that way. 😀🙃

My eye sight is so bad now a days it's hard for me to raid even with glasses and graphics turned on ultra high. So I just pay guilds gold to carry me ^_^

If you don't like losing world buffs due to people trying to impede the other faction from progressing, then play on a pve server. Idk why you think blizzard needs to fix something that's been fixed since launch in 2004. Pve and pvp servers. Ez. Done.

I just played WOW for the first time a few days ago, I'm loving it so far! I want to help people relive their noobs days through me haha, so I've been recording my experience if anyone wants to see :)
As a prot warrior (and bad ret pally) in og vanilla, I can attest to being a loot hussie.
For prot, I QM'd so much NR gear to myself when I ran Green Dragon raids until I had it all, for easier subsequent dragon raids and AQ40 ofc. And I pissed off many a hunter by taking an actual hunter item on my ret pally, Typhoon.
I was a greasy teen and I was bad at the game but nostalgia. Farthest I got was NAXX40 w/ only Razuvius killed and AQ40 up to Huhuran but didn't get her down.
Side note: I am still bad, just slightly less so than back then.
I got super lucky and got the mind quickening gem on the very first BWL run on my mage 😂 I was so happy cuz that trinket was extremely Strong. I used it in TBC as well for trash packs (in Hyjal I did over 10K DPS on trash packs with MQG). I believe we had like 5 mages in classic and all 5 got the MQG eventually

World buffs are irredeemable.
Spell batching was the only thing that made shaman viable in any pvp scenario. As much as it might suck in other circumstances i'd take spell batching in classic any day.

Cat stand listening to asmon reminisce about his PvP greatness when you know he was never actually good at PvP. Ever. Not when he was young. Not now. Not ever. Making up stories is dumb.
I love when Asmon goes on a tangent saying:" people don't want....x or y" Asmon, I like your opinions a lot generally, but don't talk about people wants, you can talk about what YOU want and perhaps make an educated guess on what you think other people want, so much so that you are wrong about people wanting to steamroll through raid content in WoW Classic, many people that I know and myself included actually wanted a more challenging experience and that's okay, people have different opinions.
It's generally understood that when people talk about people they mean generally, just as I did just now. Your nitpicky rant says more about your social ineptness than anything.
I think its fair to make an assumption on this because there is at least some level of data backing it with Warcraft logs. Just the sheer number of parses between classic and retail is already somewhat proof that most people don't want ridiculously hard content. The same applies when you look at the amount of parses in retail between each of the raid difficulties. The higher you go the less parses you have. Now obviously this isn't a full picture, this is making an assumption on a limited data set but at least there is more data backing it then the other way around.
Now obviously there is going to be a subset of people that want more difficult content and it sounds like you are in that subset of the community which gives you a bias on that opinion. This is the unfortunate nature of echo chambers and the internet.
We need to remember that the vast majority of people that play games are actually casual players and not the tryhards that have the time to sit down and prog a raid for 10-20 hours a week. Part of what I think makes classic so successful right now is that most raid tiers you clear in 2-4 hours a week which is just quick enough that your casuals and your mom and pop gamers can actually set aside some time to do the content.

Classic was good for its time in 2004 but playing in when they re released it , it was very clear the game had aged badly
This just in from 2004, hybrid classes sucked compared to pure classes by design, more at 11.
