Air Ionizers
- Do not use air filters
- send negative ions to air surrounding the person and increase weight of particles therefore causing them to drop to the surfaces/ ground
- they can also repel other particles which are charged the same
- pollutants / pathogens will not be in the air BUT will be along the ground / surfaces
- it may prevent the inhalation of the virus BUT can still infect you if you do not clean your surroundings because the virus/ bacteria may survive along surfaces
- AIR purifiers with HEPA filters are more effective than wearable air purifiers to prevent COVID-19 but need regular maintenance or disinfection.

Could you please let us know what happens with smoke without the device? Could you please do a test like this (or similar): capture smoke using a somewhat consistent method (maybe a combusting incense for 10 seconds?), capturing the smoke in a sealed container, film and measure time for visual clearing. With and without the device so that we have at least some control/comparison. Without this, the result at the end of the current video has nothing we can compare it against, thus rendering the result meaningless. Thank you.
Essential is also to use clear glass for the container, carefully filming the glass before and after experiment. So that we can see how much of the smoke adhered to the glass (as scientifically, it's probable that the smoke is not essentially broken down or contained, but just ionized, causing it stick to the glass).

The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

I got the AirClear Necklace recently. But I think they only sell in USA and selected Asian countries. It’s smaller. So far so good.

Information was great... Ionizing machines have been all the rage in the 60s... I totally don't know if it can be used for infection management.. I will buy a strong electric fan instead
HI John and thanks for your comment. Yes they were a big thing in the 60's. But I think the point now are WEARABLE air purifiers. As mentioned in the video, Air purifiers with HEPA filters are more ideal than the ionizers. Also, I understand your desire to buy a strong electric fan instead of an air purifier BUT Not all of us have open or well-ventilated areas. In a closed room, a strong electric fan will only worsen the spread of the virus. I think what you are trying to say is that you prefer to increase the AIR EXCHANGE inside a room to prevent the spread of the virus. This can be achieved by having exhaust fans or making a room a negative pressure room. Regarding infection management, I think these wearable air purifiers now are not aimed at eliminating the virus rather are just worn to lessen the risk of exposure from it. Wearable air ionizers give out near zero ozone because being battery-run, ions are very low, but provide enough for the wearer. It's those bigger ionizers we have to worry about as you'll smell it.

Unless if it is a drone footage, my usual vlogging camera is a Fujiflm X-A7 with an XF18-55 kit lens while my Portrait photos are taken using a Fujifilm X-T2 with a XF56 f1.2 lens. Hope this helps. Hi... can you please show how to detect if the wearable type really do emit negative ions? Because purifier and ionizer are somewhat different from each other. That is why the other has the need for a filter while the other one doesnt. Thanks
Hi. If i am not mistaken ALL wearable air purifiers are ionizers. I have not seen a wearable air purifier that use a filter. I have seen people test these devices using meters but unfortunately these ion meters are more expensive than the device. That is why I only did a smoke test which is not a scientific test.

I recently bought one of those and it's amazing how huge the price difference between the most expensive ones (P13,600) to the cheapest ones (P360) offering more or else the same function. The model I bought was around P560 and on paper it says it generates 8 million negative ions per cubic meter for about 48 hours. I did the smoke test on it too and it cleared the smoke in about 2 minutes where usually the smoke stands for 10 minutes without clearing. And if you put it closer to your ear you can hear and feel it blowing a weak current of air. I guess that's how you check if the ion generator is real or just an LED light jewelry for suckers.

I have air purifier and humidifier, I always use them at the same time but I don’t think about that wearable one if that’s gonna work.
i was using humidifier but it doesn't do anything unless if you want it for decoration lool, but this device are work perfectly as an all in one. I just got my.

This one of the type called : Electronic Air Cleaner (EAC). This EAC generate ion but also emitting ozone, one of the respiratory hazards especially for lung. Since there is Nitrogen Monoxide in the air around us. This ozone react very fast with NO and forming N02 very fast (multiple few times). NO2 another respiratory hazard.

Well Air Purifier and Ionizer are different, the one that you wear is Ionizer. Because it work by generating ion around you, its neutralizing.
Different with air purifier, air purifier suck the air through the filter and produce clean air.

Do they have side effect? (The portable necklace one) Ive been wanting to buy air purifier with hepa filter & ozone but I dont know is it healthy for the long term ( because its contained ozone ) and I dont know is it healthy to turn it on when we are sleeping or in the room? And as my parent got covid, Ive been planning to buy these. But I'm afraid it makes the virus more circulated around in the air
Hi Vann and thanks for your comment. I have checked for side effects online but the one I read noted increased accumulation in Ozone gas in a contained area while using the Wearable Air Purifier. What I recommend is that you wear it when outdoors only or when going to a place for a short time. For longer duration stay, it would be best if you use an air purifier with HEPA filter. You can turn OFF the Ozone or ionizer after a few hours when the air is already clean. We use the Ionizer for our Room HEPA Filter Air Purifier only when we just arrived from outside. If you want safe, good and healthy air purifier for your home buy the one that only uses HEPA filter solely (i.e. Levoit, Philips) avoid brands that sell you air filtering with ozone generating (i.e. Winix, HoMedics).
Stay away from unreliable air purifiers or what I call "money wasters" that doesn't do well in air filtration (i.e. Xiaomi, Huawei, generic brands)
I would always go with Levoit brand as my first choice since it's an air purifying-dedicated company that makes reliable, tested and proven _(HEPA-only)_ purifiers. They *don't* make ionizers or machines that generate ozone.
I was expecting a control test (without the gadget) alongside the one I saw here. It'd show if it is indeed effective. Hope you can do that. 😉

@@masterb5683 I think the difference is in the reality of whether they work vs a theory that some viruses may drop below the wearer. Natural drafts and air currents would be much stronger than the ability of this device to drop viruses away from the wearer. It seems that this device assumes there is no draft of any kind.. not even someone breathing 6ft away.

Is there a Standard for Smoke Clearance test? I think you mean compare 2 Smoke clearing tests as to (1)With Intervention and (2)Without Intervention. Honestly, I did not feel the need to make another Smoke Clearing test WITHOUT ANY DEVICE OR INTERVENTION. It is COMMON SENSE that the the test without any smoke clearing device would CLEAR SLOWLY or, if in a sealed container, would NOT CLEAR at all. The Smoke Clearing test would ONLY PROVE SIGNIFICANT if ANY DEVICE can clear the air FASTER than not having a device. Don't you agree? As air particles move at 300 meter per second, they will constantly enter into your ionized iar "bubble".
If the ionize stream directly enters your nose that will improve the results.
But if this apparatus only helps to diminish the number of virusses entering into your longs etc. thereby alone it will help reduce, and thus easier defeat, COVID19 contiminations.
Reducing the number of infecting virusses is very important! It even helps build up immunity in the mean time!

Yep. The negative ions create static, which will give you a tiny buzz if the wick touches your skin. I've only felt this if the wick touches my lips (don't ask why, lol).

As to the duration of use, I think the answer is as long as you have power to keep it ON. If I wear a mask, face shield and practice social distancing then I might as well add another level of protection even if its small. As long as it doesn't have side effects then I might as well use one. As to your "Control" suggestion, like others who asked before you, I prefer not to perform the control because it would only prove that the device works faster in clearing the smoke. It is already EXPECTED that the control test will not clear the smoke in a vacuum. Right? In a real world scenario, you do not stay in one place long enough for the air to clear itself therefore any device that can hasten the cleaning of the air around you would be better. The objective of the test is to know if the device WORKS. Only the smoke clearing test can show that. We can't see the negative ions emitted by the device. i have it for 2 weeks now. i don't know about other people but i have a severe allergy to smoke, pet dander, pollen etc so i could have a flu all day. plus, i have cats and its quite windy in my area so the house can be little bit dusty. whenever my flu starts to coming, i would switch on this purifier and even to my surprising as well, it works. this week, i haven't yet got flu all day.
i guess you can see the effectiveness for people who have allergy like me. but if you are always fine, don't have any health problem, then it might seems to have no change to you.

Can effectively purify smoke?
If you want to buy any of these, choose the ones that releases a lot of anions. There are Products that release 50 million to 200 million anions. Try to check or inquire the effective coverage area that these devices can purify. Some claims as wide as 1 meter around you to as little as 3 feet. If you use this and you are staying in one place, let's say your Office, still disinfect the surroundimg surface. If you move around, let's say you went to the Grocery, this is very effective. Still a preventive device. I bought each of my family member in this new normal.

where do you put this po after you use it? and is there a way to clean the device?
Hi Vivi and thanks for the comment. I place the device in my UVC box after a days use. After disinfection, I charge it daily. You can wipe the device with lysol wipes if you like. We have another product in Korea (FDA registered), it generates 200m positive & negative ions
I believe that it's the only product which doesn't create ozone which is quite harmful to humans.

Hi John, yes I agree in most (except 1) of the points mentioned. The things you mentioned are, in fact, what everybody needs to practice to prevent COVID-19 infection. However, as mentioned in your previous comment, a STRONG FAN will NOT help prevent the spread of ANY VIRUS if used in a CLOSED ROOM (in a condominium perhaps). A fan can only help you if the room is well-ventilated and has open windows to facilitate increase in air exchange. BUT you can not use a strong fan in a CLOSED ROOM like Malls, restaurants because it can INCREASE the spread of the virus. The point to wearing these WEARABLE AIR PURIFIERS is that these devices CAN help lessen the risk of being exposed to SARS-COV2 virus or any other virus. It does not, in any way, replace the use of face masks, face shields, goggles, frequent hand hygiene and surface infection Control management. That is why I made this video to increase awareness among people who wear these devices to remind them to still wear a mask and shield and practice hand hygiene and social distancing. And lastly, I can't imagine people wearing or using a big fan whenever you are walking around. Anyways, I have HEPA Hathspace on my room, I am using it for my allergies. In regards to that device, I don't really mind, but I probably have to get another brand here in Hawai'i or maybe order from Amazon.
But it's always good to have something like that for additional defense from covid.

Negative ions are not heavy nor do they fall down because of gravity. A negative ion is just a molecule or atom that gained an electron. Its just molecules or atoms ionized as the lost(positive) or gained(negative).

Thanks for the video. Device of such is making no sense, no working at all. Using the carbon brush as point discharging to create micro-lighting to ionize the air to create O2-, it is just a good story, only, not practical at all in an open area. In stead, it will accumulate and settle dust around, trying it on your desk, you will have dust just near those brush. So, not air purifier, it is dust collector.
Can my 4 year old daughter use this ?
