    Regarding some comments: This is NOT "THE" DMG Mori Plant in Germany. This is the old Deckel Maho Plant in Pfronten, where some(!) of the DMG Mori Milling machines are made. E.g. the DMU50 is assembled by Deckel Maho Seebach, some lathes are assembled in Bielefeld, other Lathes are made in Italy at Graziano Tortona. Some machine beds are milled at Famot Pleszew. Afaik the city of Pfronten will not give any more land to Deckel Maho, so further expansion is off the table there.

    I toured Deckel Maho Pfronten in October. Very impressive how they can move those monster machines through town. Our bus was almost rubbing shoulders with vehicles and buildings driving through town, those massive machines must be a real challenge. We came out of the factory and there were 4 or 5 people paragliding down from the peak of the mountain outside the factory. Very cool place.

    Every tour of a high-tech modern factory in Europe: giant windows, skylights, lots of natural light.
    Every tour of a high-tech factory in the US: dark, no windows, daylight reserved for management.
    Why?

    • @3RPRECISIONMFG
      @3RPRECISIONMFG 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      Because in Germany, manufacturing is part of the fabric of their culture. They take pride in it, it is a very common and respectable field with a lot of innovation in opportunity, most factories treat employees very well. In America, the manufacturing workforce is depleting because business owners do not take care of their employees, advance their careers nor offer fair pay for highly skilled and intense trade labor, and also do not even take care of their facilities to make it a comfortable place to work. People in the states are looked down on for working in manufacturing because it doesn't pay for what it is really worth. It is a huge difference in culture. Sad reality but that is the answer to your question.

    • @dreieckrechteck2716
      @dreieckrechteck2716 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@3RPRECISIONMFG Hm. I do not think that you can scher them all über einen Kamm. (little mixed language joke, it was funny in my head. German speakers will get it) It means you can not lump all together.
      There are many employers in Germany who do not treat their employees well, and there are many employers in America who are not as evil as you describe. This is not a problem of a single country, but of the people. We Europeans like to tell ourselves that Americans talk a lot about freedom and then let themselves be enslaved. That is certainly the case, but not everywhere. Besides, it also exists in our country. Fortunately, I am not affected by it, because my employer actually behaves very fairly, but I know a lot of machinists who came from other companies and who did not fare so well there. I bet there are a lot of companies in America that are just so nice and treat their employees well. Of course, that's not to excuse those who fit that description exactly. I'm just saying that we're not free of this problem and we shouldn't think that it can only be bad elsewhere. Sorry for any mistakes, English is clearly not my first language.
      P.S.: Production is also a part of American culture. There's a lot to be proud of there, too. Except, of course, the measurement system.

    • @3RPRECISIONMFG

      I appreciate your perspective and understand what you are saying. It is very true that wherever you go in the world, these issues in this industry exist. The point I was making was directly answering g that other user's question directly with an example that is true most of the time.@@dreieckrechteck2716

      Robert Bosch, one of the most famous german engineers and entrepreneurs once said: I don't pay good salaries because I have so much money, but I have so much money because I pay good salaries. And that says a lot about german engineering culture.

    Trust me those are kind of small. I used to work with an Asquith CNC back in the nineties with four heads and a 10 x 5 meter table, we did very big work on that mostly one off's but it wasn't as sofisticated as todays machine tools. It was designed to machine nuclear waste flasks out of solid steel castings, forty ton of which would be waste material. I'm 70 and retired now and things have moved on a bit with multi axis machining.

    Amazing seeing this tour but watching this on tv i got a headache…too much camera movement, constant zooming in and out.
    Would be much more comfortable to have camera a bit away from you two talking and maybe zooming out as you come closer and maybe pan left or right on some machine along the way.😢

    I would like once that the hosts are not so brown-nosy and not try to hype up everything they see. It's cringe
