About the song Papaoutai, to give you some backstory about Stromae: Stromae's dad was actually killed in Rwanda's genocide in 1994 while he was visiting his family there, his mom only told him the truth about it a few years later when he was 12 years old, but his dad was already an absent figure in Stromae's life before that.
Actually, his dad moved back to Rwanda when his dad asked him too, to continu the family legacy, Stromae was super young. He was an architect over there. This is also why Stromae never really saw him. He went there once for a month. He made a new family over there, he has lots of half brothers and sisters in Rwanda. He was killed during the massacre, but never found, they only found his shirt. His family over there finally told him that he was most likely dead.
Stromae has been taking a break since 2016, I think for health reasons, he had a burnout and needed to take care of himself and rest, and he also started a family, but he isn't completely out of the music scene, he has a music label and has been producing music for other artists.
It was not a burn out.. it was worst.. the man almost lost his mind and die because of an anti-paludism.. its a miracle is still alive and it is serious enough for him to quit defenetively the music industry. Dont dream he ll never coming back. He s happier now in is quiet life and family...
I think you would like his song "Carmen". It's about the impact of social media in our lives and in the song he is especially talking about Twitter. It's personally one of my favorites from him And another one of his hit songs is "Formidable" if you could check it out too I love the fact that you are so open-minded about music all around the globe. I truly appreciate it keep going ❤❤❤
Most of Stromae's songs are masterpieces imo and picking any is a hard choice but these two suggestions (Carmen & formidable) and of course "quand c'est?" are great picks. I can also suggest "batard" and/or "peace or violence" because of the social message those songs contain.

It is true that Stromae had health problems and depression. But maybe today the real reason for his absence. It's because he wants to be a "papa". Be there for his son.
There is a documentary about him on TH-cam. Supposedly he stopped it because it was too stressful and the stress was not letting him be happy. That's why he doesn't have personal social media either. He was always thinking of next music video. Then he stopped as that type of artist and created an online store with home decor and clothing inspired in his music videos sceneries. From time to time, he promotes his things, with new music .

YEEEEEEES! I'm so glad you guys liked it ☺️ Stromae is definitely a genius. Please watch the music video for "Carmen", "Ta Fête", "Formidable" and "Ave Cesaria". You will a range of great rythms and meaningful songs too.
For the story of the artist. He started as an unknown belgian rapper. Then made his first and biggest break through (first that made it really around the world, i remember at that time having friends in Medellin listening to it) with the clip "alors on danse" in a completely different musical type, kind of a hangover, drinking to forget the monotony of life. All the music of that first clip, was actually made by him with only his computer, super low budget. Then made the 2 clips you just made the reaction videos. He made also one clip for the world cup and finished his singles with the song "formidable" (wonderful). That he released the clip like it was some kind of news and not like a clip, starting with him drunk in the streets but filmed like it was random people filming, showing the downfall of a celebrity and people reaction to it, without the music and it made to the news like "Stromae drunk in the streets of Brussels". Probably his biggest genious act, everybody fall for it. And then the day after, he released the real clip and people understood, it was just a setup. Then a few months later, he announced he retires from the showbiz, saying he wanted to be an anonymous people again (it was 5 years ago). He kind of delivered all the messages he wanted to deliver through his music.... so I doubt you'll ever hear about him after that.
This was such a great reaction, your comments about how the "wax figure" also represents idealistic representations of fathers that real people can't live up to were so striking. I love this song but I hadn't ever actually considered that part of the narrative before. Thanks for the cool thoughts!

By far my favourite song and clip by Stromae is Quand c'est. It gives me goosebumps every time. Also his lyrics are just phenomenally poetic. I discover something new every time.
He actually stopped doing music videos because the stress was so much, he wasn't happy and that was the reason he started it, to do what makes him happy. He was always thinking what to do next. Then he decided to keep doing music but just for his clothing line. He has an online store and promote it with music created for it. He also stopped using personal social media. It was very sad for me when I found that out. HE is my favorite artist of all times.

Hi guys, I really love your video's, very interesting and fun to watch. In this song and video there were some major contributions from US-American dancer Tight Eyez and Congolese legend Papa Dizzy. The director is Adam Nael. I know you can't cover everything in a video, but please remember and remind your audience that music and especially videos are often created by a whole team of people, that absolutely deserve the credit. Some artists even give complete freedom to video directors but end up receiving all the credits for the story and visuals. Besitos from Belgium 🇧🇪😘

Adieu
Hi guys, I really love your video's, very interesting and fun to watch.
In this song and video there were some major contributions from US-American dancer Tight Eyez and Congolese legend Papa Dizzy. The director is Adam Nael. I know you can't cover everything in a video, but please remember and remind your audience that music and especially videos are often created by a whole team of people, that absolutely deserve the credit. Some artists even give complete freedom to video directors but end up receiving all the credits for the story and visuals.
Besitos from Belgium 🇧🇪😘
