I’m no expert here as I haven’t yet run one marathon and I’m heavier and about double your pace but my 5 favs for my training have been. 1. Endorphin pro 3 - long runs, race day, speed days. 2. Vomero 17 - recovery miles or any slow miles 3. Topo cyclone two - light def feel the ground kind of tempo shoe. 4. Endorpin speed 3 - recovery miles up to tempo work. 5. Novabkast 4 - just super comfy - any miles for me this shoe is like a pair of your favorite jeans it just feels comfortable and can be used to anything.
I absolutely love my Endorphin Pro 4 for all the running situations you describe. I’m looking forward to a Triumph 22 review and would love a comparison against the Skyward X
As a fellow Hobby Jogger, my bank account gets scared everytime I watch any of your videos haha! I got the novablast 4 (even in the same colorway) cause of you. currently have a rotation of the endorphin speed 3 and that for my daily miles. Happy with it, but it's just a bit firm at slow paces (as you mentioned) . I might pick up the 1080v13 to complete my first 3 shoe rotation so that I have a recovery shoe.
Hahaha yeah you mentioned the novablast 4 was a little firm for you as a lighter runner. 1080 is def my favorite soft shoe out there and will be better if you don't like the firm feel

I loved your video and your detail! Covered 19 miles in the Pro 4 this morning (2 WU, 4 x (1 mile 7:15, 2 miles 6:50-55, 1 mile off) and 1 CD) and it works well for those speeds approaching marathon pace. It would be a valid choice for a marathon. I got a half marathon PB in it in March but feel it's not the choice for me. 1080v13 look interesting and I will definitely check those out. Novablast 4 though, everyone seems to love this trainer. Not me. I feel like I'm about to get injured every time I wear it. Seems like they're made of concrete and they generate this odd slappy sound when they hit the ground. Probably a case of not every shoe can suit every runner haha!
The novablast took me some time to get used to - at first I had that slapping sensation as well at some slower paces and really didn't get along with them. I'm not sure if they've broken in or if I've just gotten more used to them but it's pretty much gone anyway
I’m curious if you have tried the Saucony Tempus. I feel this shoe is often overlooked for the Endorphin line but it has the same PowerRun PB foam and makes for an awesome daily trainer. Worth a try and a video review!😊
My personal preference is lighter and lower stack shoes for the treadmill vs the road since the treadmill feels a little softer already. Mach 6 or Rebel v4 would both be good - rebel is a little lighter and Mach 6 is a little bouncier with a bit more foam
Another solid treadmill option is the Adidas Adios 8. I’ve used that several times on the treadmill in my 300+ miles in the shoe. You get a good amount of ground feel, but the shoe is responsive.
Great video as always 💪 I would appreciate your advice, I am a 5' 7"/170 casual runner who runs only with the Saucony Triumph 20 (they wear up) and I looking for my next new shoe. I tried the Speed 3 and the Boston 12 and both of them felt good. Which of the two shoes would you recommend for my needs? Or, do you suggest something else? Also, what would be a good shoe rotation? Would it be reasonable to rotate between both of them? Thanks, a lot
I love your videos! Keep up the great work. I’m finishing out my spring track season at the end of May and am planning on upping mileage over the summer to train for a marathon. Would you recommend the skyward x for doing that while staying healthy?
Thanks man! And yes Skyward X is a great shoe for building mileage! Another good option that's a little less expensive and also lighter weight is the SC Trainer v2 - of course no shoe can guarantee staying healthy but I like these higher stacked shoes for feeling a litle more comfortable over those long miles
Love your videos! I’m looking to get back into running and a shoe that can do it all, would you say the Skyward is a good option for me? Also, any recommendations for a good training plan to follow starting out, like couch to 5k?
I would go for the Vomero! It has a great deal right now for $95 at Dicks and is also super comfortable and fun to run in - Skyward X is great but might be overkill for your use case. The additional cushion and bulk was nice for runs 1 hour+ but I'd prefer a simpler shoe like Vomero or Mach 6 for shorter runs. And I'll dig up a plan for you - my go tos for starting out are Hansons method and Hal Higdon. I'll drop a link here when I'm back home
I've been binging your videos recently since I recently got into running, the man at the running store convinced me to get the Cumulus 26 since I have an extra wide food was wondering if you had any opinions on it? either way keep up the great content!
Thank you! I haven't tried that one yet but most of Asics training shoes are pretty solid - cumulus is a nice pick. I'm looking forward to trying it at some point this year
Great videos! Would love your thoughts on my current rotation and if the skyward x fits: race day AF3, fast long runs Cielo X1x, short speed work/intervals ES4, and I’m thinking of adding skyward as a recovery/long/easy mile shoe. Appreciate anyone’s thoughts!
Hi! Training for a marathon in October, right now my rotation is NB 1080v13, Adidas Boston 12, Saucony Endorphin Speed 3, and HOKA Mach 6. Is there any gaps I should fill besides adding in my race day shoe? Been debating Adizero sl, puma deviate nitro 2 for rotation but open to suggestions
that's a great rotation! unless you want something with a firmer ride i wouldn't go for the adizero SL - it filled the same role for me as mach 6. also deviate nitro 2 is awesome but lots of overlap with speed 3/boston 12. other than race day shoe your rotation is perfect! also i know lots of ppl like the speed 3 for race day so depending on your preference you could use that. my top pick right now if you want a carbon plated racer is the endorphin pro 4 - comfortable and fun
I got the Adidas Boston 12 because of your videos. I like it for medium to long runs, but it has caused blood blisters on both of my feet, on the pads behind my big toes. I thought it might be because of the crazy slick surface of the insoles, since my feet were sliding so much on them with every step. However, I've tried switching out the insoles with those from other running shoes, as well as wearing much thicker socks. Next, I'll try taping my feet before a run. So far, nothing works. I really regret buying them now. I haven't had blisters like that in years. 😡
Dang sorry to hear that! I haven't had issues with blisters through 300 miles, but I know some other runners don't like the fit. One suggestion I got recently was to switch out the laces for softer ones, so you can pull them tighter and get a better fit without hurting the top of your feet. A viewer emailed me this Amazon link and said these were the best ones for the Adizero shoes a.co/d/fzacRUW Sorry again they're not working out and lmk if this helps at all
They're using the same foam as the pro 3, which I have at about 280 miles and it still feels good. I'm planning to do a 100 mile review of the pro 4 soon so will let you know! But I anticipate it will get 300 miles no issue, similar to pro 3
Not sure about anyone else but I find the Nimbus 25 feeling flat in the right foot after 5k? It seems to bottom out? I’ve heard the different colours vary with the white and blue shoes being ok for some and the black colour scheme bad?
Yeah I prefer the 1080 to the nimbus. I had some quality recovery runs in the nimbus but it also felt limited - for me at about 10 miles it started to feel not as protective. Not sure about the colorways but I have seen variation in other shoes based on colorways (for example, Mach 6 sizing is different in different colorways)
That is so interesting. I got 1 pair of black 25 that was amazing in 2023. Got a new pair in January 2024 after using the other a lot, and the new pair went flat so freaking fast! Maybe 15k. I tried to return them to the store that won’t take them. I was surprised by the experience of the second pair.
Still a great shoe - but I prefer the Boston 12 for speed, Skyward X for steady/fun and 1080v13 for relaxed. So it got bumped off the list. Those are the tough decisions we gotta make out here 😩
Yessir! compared to the other daily trainers/speed shoes I highlighted, it doesn't feel as protective for longer miles - which are the building blocks for my style of marathon training. Love the Mach 6 but that was the one weaknesses it had on the 20 mile double run day test I did in it (also stability isn't great compared to the others). That's why I like putting a lot of miles on the shoes - sometimes it's different than what you'd think based on specs alone. Similar to Vomero - it rides lower than the reported stack
@@TheValonquarNot all, many of the super-shoes aren't superblast the new Paris, etc. I just had to get the speed 3 in a size larger because the wides no longer seem to be found. The speed 4s aren't. It's always hit and miss.
Vomero is designed more for comfort, durability and to be used for a lot of different types of runs. Speed 4 is more designed for speed workouts, long runs and as a budget racing shoe. If you want something for faster speed workouts, then the Speed 4 is better (though I prefer the Mach 6 and Boston 12 for that) and if you want a good shoe to use for everyday runs then the Vomero is better
@@supwell Awesome! I currently have Speed 3s and I really like it for its lean efficiency. But I may want to try Vomero at DSG when I get a chance. Thanks for your reply!!
ASICS is horrible in Canada. Bad website: the website is BROKEN when searching for sizes. No selections for sizes. Overhyped. Way overpriced: example $220 for the ASICS Nimbus. To be honest, I could care less if they just left Canada. GTFO

@@supwell Thank you!! Just came across your videos this week and they've already been so helpful with understanding different shoes.
Do you prefer the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 over the Pro 3? If so, can you elaborate as to why?
I’ve tried on both and I have medium width feet and in my size the 3 is too snug but the 4 has the perfect toe box and is true to aize
You are starting to say “sweet sauce” so much that you may need to make it your tag line. Like SJD “butter my bread” 😂
A viewer emailed me this Amazon link and said these were the best ones for the Adizero shoes a.co/d/fzacRUW
Sorry again they're not working out and lmk if this helps at all
@@supwellYes, I didn't mention the laces, but they're terrible for exactly the reason you said. Thanks for the reply.
@@supwell Fortunately, I also got the Saucony Kinvara Pro for long runs. Outstanding shoe so far.
Come back to that Adios Pro 3 dog, it might end up making the racing stable.
How many km Pro 4 can handle before it lost a racing vibe and pop?
They're using the same foam as the pro 3, which I have at about 280 miles and it still feels good. I'm planning to do a 100 mile review of the pro 4 soon so will let you know! But I anticipate it will get 300 miles no issue, similar to pro 3
@@supwell thanks 👍
Not sure about anyone else but I find the Nimbus 25 feeling flat in the right foot after 5k? It seems to bottom out? I’ve heard the different colours vary with the white and blue shoes being ok for some and the black colour scheme bad?
Yeah I prefer the 1080 to the nimbus. I had some quality recovery runs in the nimbus but it also felt limited - for me at about 10 miles it started to feel not as protective. Not sure about the colorways but I have seen variation in other shoes based on colorways (for example, Mach 6 sizing is different in different colorways)
@@supwell thank you for the reply! Keep up the great work! 👏🏻
@@msforest833 exactly my issue. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. Seems a strange defect. Thanks for replying! 👏🏻
What happened to the sc trainer v2
Still a great shoe - but I prefer the Boston 12 for speed, Skyward X for steady/fun and 1080v13 for relaxed. So it got bumped off the list. Those are the tough decisions we gotta make out here 😩
Mach 6 has 32 mil stack in the forefoot and you're saying it doesn't have enough protection in the forefoot. That makes no sense
Yessir! compared to the other daily trainers/speed shoes I highlighted, it doesn't feel as protective for longer miles - which are the building blocks for my style of marathon training.
Please review the kinvara Pro
Shoe companies hate wide footed people :( 😂😂😂😂
saucony and asics are wide
@@TheValonquarNot all, many of the super-shoes aren't superblast the new Paris, etc. I just had to get the speed 3 in a size larger because the wides no longer seem to be found. The speed 4s aren't. It's always hit and miss.
@@Run_forklift_run speed 4 are wide on the midfoot but narrow toebox
@@Run_forklift_run adidas adizero boston 12 are wide for example, hoka have some, altras nearly all wide foot.
When's the last time the 880 has even seen sunlight
Approximately February 16, 2024
What does the Speed 4 compare to Vomero?
Vomero is designed more for comfort, durability and to be used for a lot of different types of runs. Speed 4 is more designed for speed workouts, long runs and as a budget racing shoe. If you want something for faster speed workouts, then the Speed 4 is better (though I prefer the Mach 6 and Boston 12 for that) and if you want a good shoe to use for everyday runs then the Vomero is better
@@supwell Awesome! I currently have Speed 3s and I really like it for its lean efficiency. But I may want to try Vomero at DSG when I get a chance. Thanks for your reply!!
skyward x number 5... skyward x number 4... skyward x number 3... skyward x number 2... and you guessed it. skyward x number 1 LOL
If barefoot mafia is coming after you why would they watch your channel to begin with lol thats like you watching a carnivore diet top 10 channel
😂😂😂 carnivore diet out here catching strays
ASICS is horrible in Canada. Bad website: the website is BROKEN when searching for sizes. No selections for sizes. Overhyped. Way overpriced: example $220 for the ASICS Nimbus. To be honest, I could care less if they just left Canada. GTFO
Lalalalala i cant hear you....
