I'm from Johannesburg and can confirm what Mr Carlson has said. Sadly, carjacking (hijacking as we call it) is endemic in the city. Law and order has broken down. Here, we rely on private security to protect ourselves. We don't trust or rely on the police. Some years ago, my sister was hijacked in our driveway. It was terrifying. I hope and pray that this scourge doesn't become as commonplace in your country, as it has done in mine.

Chicago here. I was just talking with someone about this in the morning. The summer of the reign of terror during the quarantine is when I witnessed three women who were carjacked within two weeks in my neighborhood. The perpetrators were young thugs who would case the area at noon/midday time with people walking about and peg a certain type of women, or so it appeared. One girl they conked on the head as she was leaving the alley and pulled her out of the car. I happened to be walking to the corner store and arrived to the scene just after it happened. Another day it happened in similar fashion again in another alley. The third time I went out for a walk and saw a kid in a black hoodie driving a car and looking all jittery and something was off. I suspected he was a carjacker but saw no one around or yelling. I continued on my walk and as I turned the corner I saw a bunch of people standing around and a young girl on the ground crying and freaking out. She got assaulted by two or three guys who got up in her face, menaced and threatened her and took the car. In all the cases the police took forever to arrive and didn't seem too concerned about any of this!! However, what could they do as they were being menaced by the Mayor and media and threatened with defunding. Meanwhile, I wrote to my alderman about this and the Chicago Tribune. No one responded. This was well before the media or anyone started talking of this. Meanwhile, the violence is getting worse and worse, and the populace is getting dumber accepting that this is the new normal. The derelict leadership of the city, state and country has allowed for this to happen and is complicit in the doings of criminals. Shameful!

We are visiting a few different places on the way, but stuff like this makes me want to head straight toward FL and not stop, but that means they win. That's what they want. When the government and law enforcement won't protect the people they must protect themselves. Unfortunately law enforcement in most states will attack and arrest those who carry the tools needed to protect themselves. If the US doesn't turn itself around, and soon, she will be lost. The people must stand up or we will lose it all.
