  • When Denise Bossert wanted to become Catholic, she thought most of her obstacles would be related to theology. But when she was told she needed an annulment, it was as though all the air had been sucked out of the room.
    She shares some of her trepidation about entering into that process, and what it felt like for her to come out on the other side of it with a sacramental marriage.

    Great story. The annulment process is painful because the sad memories we thought were behind us have to be revisited, but it's also a learning process as well. We are both waiting for our's to be finalized. Thanks.

    Not being ready for marriage is not a cause for the annulment. There are only very few and strict rules to annul a marriage. The Church consider you to be already married. Nowadays majority of annulments are based on immaturity which makes the annulment not valid. Annulment is stating that a marriage didn’t take place. When you get married even outside the church you still make a promise to the other person.

    You were first married in a protestant service, then why did you need a Catholic nullity while you were married a second time to a non Catholic, the one you claim that God "saw" as marriage?
    I'm completely confused here.

      Marriages are bit like baptisms in so much that they can happen without priests. If your marriage was intended to be as the sacramental version is, that is open to life, a permanent commitment understood by both parties etc, it's a real marriage regardless of who performed the original ceremony. The question in an annulment is "Did a real marriage exist between these two people?", not who performed it. Young marriages that are childless and end early tend to be candidates for annulment.

    • @atrifle8364
      @atrifle8364 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Part two of the answer was that if the first marriage existed and the ex-spouse was still alive, she would be living in a state of adultery and be unable to receive communion. Thus it matters a great deal.

    If you're capable of producing babies, you're capable of consenting to marriage.

    Kinda does seem like annulment has become catholic divorce. If my wife divorced me and got one, I wouldn’t consider it valid.

    • @atrifle8364
      @atrifle8364 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Annulments are not automatically granted. If there was a real marriage there they should not be granted, despite a divorce.
