    Thank you for your video, it's by far the best review of the Sonos Port that I've seen.

      Thank you! We use the Port on so many systems because we are always putting in better speakers and amps, but the ease of use of Sonos to navigate the clients music is always nice.

    Great explanation. One question I had is if the port is connected to a regular AV receiver that has a zone A (living room 5.1) and zone b (patio speakers) how would the port work? Would it play in both zones or one or the other?

    • @GreatChoiceAudioVideo
      @GreatChoiceAudioVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since that's just a single zone receiver that allows you to have a zone B, that Port will play through both as a pass through. With it not being a true 2 zone receiver, you just have the ability to turn those speakers on Zone B On/OFF. The Port will connect analog to the CD input of your AV receiver. If you want independent volume control and source control for each area, you will need a 7.1 receiver or better to do that. Hope that helps! Thanks

      @@GreatChoiceAudioVideo Ty! So with a 7.1 receiver with 2 zones, would 2 Sonos ports be needed (1x zone A & 1x for zone B) to keep each zone independent?

    • @GreatChoiceAudioVideo
      @GreatChoiceAudioVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jasona4881 No. You can still do just one Port. That way you can be watching a movie on the main zone and be streaming music through the Sonos Port on the second zone. You can also play the same Sonos Port on the main zone and the 2nd zone at the same time and have individual volume control for each area. The only reason to get two Sonos Ports is if you think you want to stream music through Sonos on the Main zone and then stream something completely different through Sonos on the 2nd zone. Sonos Ports can only handle one steam per player at a time. Hope that helps!

      @@GreatChoiceAudioVideo Perfect thank you for explaining that! To confirm just need to make sure that the receiver has a powered zone 2 correct? Also if playing Sonos port on zone 2 will I still be able to group different sonos amp zones via the Sonos app?

    • @GreatChoiceAudioVideo
      @GreatChoiceAudioVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jasona4881 Yes, Just make sure they are all labeled with the correct name for the area it is dedicated to. Also make sure when you connect the Sonos Ports to your AV receiver, that you go into settings and make the Sonos a fixed volume and not variable. That way you are only using the volume on the receiver for main zone and 2nd zone to control that. You don't want two volumes controlling the same device.

    I would love this question answered. Could I use the Sonos port connected to a power driven theater subwoofer. In other words, the subwoofer has already the built-in amp. I want to use a third-party subwoofer with my Sonos set up because I don’t like their subwoofer. But can I use the Sonos port connected to a third-party subwoofer that has a built-in amp driving it already and still connect it to the ecosystem as part of my home theater set up?

    • @GreatChoiceAudioVideo
      @GreatChoiceAudioVideo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What amp are you using to drive the other speakers since you are using a Port. The Sonos AMP has sub out so you can use any subwoofer you want. If you are just putting the Sonos Port on an AV receiver or a stereo receiver with sub out, then yes, you can use your subwoofer. The Sonos port isn't powered, it's just a source. Hope this helps.

      Thanks. What I was thinking, was buying a 10 inch or 12 inch subwoofer that is already powered with a built-in amp. If this would work that would be amazing! Because I love the Sonos arc sound bar and the two Sonos ones that I use as side surrounds

    How is this in low level listening? I like to listen to music where I can speak with someone and not have to shout, but like the bass to hit hard during low listening...I hope that makes sense?

    • @GreatChoiceAudioVideo
      @GreatChoiceAudioVideo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. This isn’t intended for low listening. This is to improve your listening experience with better speakers and an amp. The Sonos port is only used to manage the streaming music experience.

    I have a question what if i have a Niles SI-1230 amplifier with 12 zone and i wanna play different music in each zones can the sonos port do this and can the app works with this amplifier.. I wanna be able to control different zones from the app

    • @GreatChoiceAudioVideo
      @GreatChoiceAudioVideo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes and no. The Sonos Port is just a single source. If you are doing a multi-channel amp, then you would want as many Sonos Ports connected to it that you want separate streams of music playing. A single port will only give one stream of music. If you want other types of music playing at the same time in other zones, then you would need more than one Port.

      We would agree. There are also more options from other brands that have even better audio streaming quality than Sonos. I believe Sonos is just hitting a price point.
