    This is the BEST explanation of what the Port is, what it does, and how to connect it to an existing system. THANK YOU!

    Great video! Thank you for explaining the Sonos port. I have purchased a Sonos port and a Sonos amp from an audio supplier in preparation for my whole house audio system. I have never used Sonos before and do not have Sonos speakers. After watching your video, I finally know how to hook up the port as well as how to utilize my Sonos amp

    We are trying to figure out how we connect the Sonos Port to a Denon Receiver and our additional electronics. How do the Sonos speakers play along with the wired existing system in the multi zone setup. Is a tutorial available for upgrade and port addition for controlling our existing system with the Port.
    Thank you and enjoyed your video. MTK

    Thanks for your great video on Sonos Port. The home builder previously installed a Sonos 1 system in my house 10 years ago. I'm picking up a new Sonos Port Streaming to replace the Sonos 1 we currently have. My questions are:
    1) Can I plug the existing connections from Sonos 1 into the new Sonos Port Streaming?
    2) Do I have to delete the current Sonos App from my iPhone and install a new App for the new Sonos Port Streaming?
    3) What other tips do you recommend in making the new Sonos Port Streaming seamless?
    I will deeply appreciate your prompt reply. Best wishes 🙂

    Great video, although my Port will no connect to my sonos app. I already have the sonos one wireless speakers hooked up to my wireless and sonos app, but i want to add the Port for my turn table. It gets to the point of saying “Add Port” but does not do anything after that. What to do now?

    Hello, please advise how do I go about connecting my Sonos Port to my Parasound P6 pre amplifier? P6 is connected to A23+ amplifier and amplifier to speakers. Do I connect this Port via digital connection to the P6 which has a DAC and then do I control the volume with the P6 pre amplifier or Port? Thanks.

      I’m looking for the same clarification. Is it weird placing another preamp at the head of the chain, which seems the most logical position? Will the Port play nice with other pre amps?

    Prior to getting Sonos speaker I had been using Apple airport routers as ports for output port for my receivers in my house. Sound from my apple ported receivers and my sonos speakers don't sync well. My house is relatively old so I can't inexpensively hardwire my rooms. Would a Sonos Port serve me better than my airport routers.

    Hi there, I am interested in this box. One thing I would like to do is using the audio of my surround receiver and send this through the sonos port to my kitchen and bathroom speakers (sonos speakers) I would connect the AMP out Left and Right of my zone 2 of the receiver to the inputs of the sonos port. Then I could have the same sound in my kitchen as in the living room when I'm watching TV. My question, would there be a delay in the sound on the sonos speakers compared to sound on the receiver?

    I've hooked the output of the port into my amp input and I hooked the output from my receiver into the port input using my receiver to select from, CD, phonograph, or tape. I see the port on my app and my Sonos speakers but there is no audio coming through, no sound out of my Sonos speakers or analog speakers. What is wrong???

    Is it possible to connect the RCA input to a analog output from a receiver? That if I want to use my receiver as a source and my Sonos system to play the music.
    -Or will the preamp on the input of the Sonos port exclude that possibilty?

    Question: so I have a numark TTi turntable with a RCA cord that can be RCA phono and RCA line (there’s a switch which allows me to change between the 2). That cord ends with the typical red and white connectors. Does this setup allow me to use the port? I have Sonos sound bar and several Sonos components throughout the house but I’m trying to not have to buy more speakers for my turntable. Thank you. And great work btw!

    Hey. Great video with useful information! Quick question.
    I just purchased the Port but haven’t received it yet. My sole purpose is to play my turntable through my existing Sonos speakers. I have the Sonos Beam plus 3 Sonos 1 speakers, two of which I use for surround sound. I have no other stereo equipment. No speakers. No receiver or amplifier. You frequently mentioned connecting the port to your receiver. Is this going to do what I want it to without any other equipment? My turntable has a pre-amp. My plan is to use the line out to connect to the ports RCA inputs and then play my Vinyl records directly through my Sonos speakers. Doable?
    Thanks for any help you can provide.

      @paulkhoo2402 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Duncan Curios if you managed to get the Port working with the Beam. I was thinking, like yourself, of hooking my turntable up to a Port and then have the Port send the music to the Beam.

    • @ubman13
      @ubman13 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! You just need to add it to your existing system using the sonos app and then you can connect any pre-amp audio input (RCA L & R is the input on the port). Hope this helps someone out there. No need for the sonos amp or any other receiver as long as you have working sonos speakers already 👍

    Hi. Very grateful for this video. Not sure if I can ask this question here but maybe someone can help.
    My current hi-fi set-up comprises a turntable, amp and speakers. If I wanted to start streaming music but also use my iTunes library currently stored on my laptop would the Sonos be the best way to go?
    Thanks.

      There are definitely some other comparable pieces of hardware with streaming capabilities. However, none of them would be compatible with sonos speakers. Additionally, to my knowledge there really isn’t another user friendly app that allows you do control everything like the sonos app.

    Was hoping you would show how the Sonos Port works using the UI. I know how to connect it and what it offers except I've never seen the software part of it. I wanted to see how it takes a music subscription service and handles it with Sonos software. Waste of 10 minutes.

    I'm very disappointed. I had a Connect that was perfectly serviceable for quite a few years, and now that it is obsolete I am stuck with having to spend significant coin for something that offers me nothing of interest above what the Connect had. (I connected the Connect into the digital inputs of my NAD M2 digital amplifier with an S/PDIF optical cable, and now there is no optical only coax, and yes I can use coax to keep everything in the digital domain without having to go through an ADC from the analog RCA outputs, but hey wouldn't it have been nice to have given me a sweetener such as 24bit 192Khz output to my amp which can handle up to 32bit 192 kHz as input? Instead, no improvements at all on the sonic front, just having to shell out good money to provide the same functionality that I used to have. I am totally unimpressed.)

    Why wouldn’t you just use the Sonos amp at that point. It allows you to use non-Sonos speakers and get them to work with your network and and Sonos app.

    • @boxiii
      @boxiii  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great point! This would only be beneficial if a person wanted to add the sonos interface to an existing hardware system that they did not want to replace. Otherwise, you are 100% correct the Sonos amp would be perfect.
