Best LOW-CARB Meal Replacement Shakes (Side-by-Side Comparison)

  • Keto meal replacement shakes are an excellent tool for anyone who follows a low-carbohydrate diet but doesn’t always have time to prepare high-fat low-carb meals from scratch. These are my four favorite keto meal replacement shakes, which I've used strategically for several years and would recommend to friends, family and viewers.
    Choosing a keto shake or a keto meal replacement drink depends largely on your goals and dietary lifestyle. I was on a strict ketogenic paleo diet for over three years and I paid close attention to the ingredient quality of everything I ate. As a result, I avoided products with artificial or otherwise inflammatory ingredients that could negatively impact my health in the long run.

    What do you think about Dr Anna Cabeca keto meal replacement?
    Do you have any UK recommendations? Purition, Perfect Keto, Boostball keto, Nuzest and Garden of Life have keto protein shakes. What do you think?

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have never tried any Anna Cabeca products but based on her webpage, she doesn't seem to have a complete meal replacement shake (only a greens and protein shake).
      You can check out my full round up on my blog to see if there are any brands you can find in the UK: michaelkummer.com/health/best-keto-meal-shakes/
      Perfect Keto is on my list and so is Garden of Life but neither have a lot of calories to replace a full meal.

      @@MichaelKummer Thank you for taking the time to reply. One last question...would you review exogenous ketone supplements one day please?

      @@MichaelKummer thank you. I weber reading it. But there are many new options. I do wonder about Real Ketones, The Friendly Fat Co. and especially Keto Pro too.
      I'm also aware that some Perfect Keto products habe been discontinued in the UK e.g. coffee base.

      @@littlevoice_11 I never tried any of those but as long as they contain nothing but ketones, they should be fine.

    Do you have any reccomendations for high protein replacements? For those of us trying to lose fat with keto, we dont need the fat in our diet yet.

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      HLTH Code is your best choice if you want to replace a meal. Without the fat, it won't have enough calories to replace a meal.

    Have you considered checking your blood sugar when consuming these?

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not seen any significant impact on blood sugar after consuming Ample or HLTH Code. They just don't have enough carbs to cause a spike.

    I have a question though about protein shakes. I get a lot of protein in my diet and I've read several things stating that if you get too much protein, it can turn into sugar and have issues with your kidneys, liver, Etc. So why is it that all of the shakes contain high amounts of protein?
    I technically would rather do OMAD, but I'm not quite there yet when it comes to doing keto. I usually do a shake in the morning and then have my actual meal a couple of hours later and then do about a 20-hour fast after that. Therefore, I really don't need a shake that has high calories, high protein, high fat and all of that. I just want something to take the edge off until I get to my actual full meal. I understand the whole concept of putting calories into your body and putting the fat in and all of that, but for those people that do OMAD, they are technically only having one meal anyway so they're not getting the extra calories, fat, protein Etc.
    So my question is, is there a shake out there that has low carbs and low protein, and preferably low calories as I really don't want anything to eat per se, but I really love the taste of shakes as I add in a few other powders like maca, superfood, Etc. This is just a nice get me over the hump kind of thing but the one shake that I used to drink is no longer being made. I can't seem to find anything that is low in everything or at least lower in everything.
    I get so much protein in my diet that I do end up getting gut issues and pains in my abdomen and I'm sure it's because I'm eating too much protein. but when I have a meal in the afternoon, everything seems to contain protein and fat! so what does a person do?

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good questions! Your body can turn anything into glucose if you're running low on it but glujconeogeneis is usually a demand- and not a supply-driven process. I have not seen any credible evidence that high-protein diets can cause kidney damage but you can certainly overdo it.
      If you get enough protein in your diet, there is no need to drink protein shakes imho.
      In your situation, I'd try a good exogenous ketone supplement. That takes the edge off for me without breaking your fast. Check out michaelkummer.com/health/best-ketone-supplements/ for my recommendations.
      My favorite ketone drink is michaelkummer.com/go/ketoneaidsnakewater and I think it'd be perfect for your use case too.

      @@MichaelKummer Thanks for the info! Greatly appreciate it! I actually like the shake that I drink. It just tastes good and I look forward to it as a filling tasty chocolate something or other in the morning at about 10:00 AM. That's why I drink it. I don't drink it for the protein I drink it to basically stop my fast. In fact the one that I drink only has like maybe 8 grams of protein in it. That's why I like it because it's such a small amount. Everything out there has a lot of protein in it. It's like you can't find anything that doesn't.
