      Sia uses a form of Sign Language called "Pigeon Signing"....it is a more simplified form of 'ASL'. Kinda like using Slang words in the English Language (American English, NOT Kings English). I absolutely adore Sia and her Voice! She has a beautiful Soul and a great sense of humor and Wit! If I could meet ANY of my favorite Singers, Sia would be at #1 (my band makes fun of me because I am a 'Metal Guitarist', and Sia is the ONLY Pop Genre Artist I listen to). She has a lot of Medical issues and deals with constant excruciating pain. Her and I share that comonality (except my issues are thanks to an IED Explosion in Afghanistan, which broke my back in 5 places....L2 - S1 Vertibreas). Many people think Sia is rather plain looking. I, on the other hand, find her AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL! I love the Voice Cracks and her amazingly fast and tight Vibrato. I would love to have her sing "Little Black Sandels", while letting me touch the sides of her throat...I want to feel what she is doing with her larnyx, and throat muscles, to acheive what she can do. I know she has done many performances for Gay/Lesbian groups, and I have heard her say ,"I am a huge Queer"...Now, I don't know if that was just part of the performance or not. If you are thinking, "Sounds like this guy is In Love with her", you would be close! Since I don't know her personally, true Love is something that can't happen (unless you are some freakish Stalker....Which I am definately NOT). I do have a great respect for Sia and all she has been through (and continues to go through). Now, Should she ever reach out, I would cherish the chance to really know her on a personal level.....and come on, be honest, what man wouldn't love to have her sing them to sleep?

      THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT THE ASL. It's more english and very lazy ASL, but it's still asl and we needed to talk about it

    When I discovered Sia's old stuff I was blown away. Sia changed her style after 2009 into more mainstream pop. I respect and enjoy her new stuff, she used to do more Downtempo style in her early albums and with Zero 7. Try listening to Beautiful Calm Driving, Distractions, Destiny, Live version of Breathe Me, Numb, Don't Bring Me Down, Blow it all Away, Death by Chocolate and Paranoid Android - Radiohead cover anything from Lady Croissant live set. I know now she is a superstar but this early stuff is really special and so many people don't know it and need to listen to this stuff too.

    I'm a HUGE fan of Sia and her vocal breaks, that said they don't always sound intentional and can sound unhealthy at times, but that's to be expected when you're always pushing to the edge of your voice. She's not only an immensely talented singer but song writer as well!

    At 1:23 you got surprised by the powerful voice, still trying to wear the entertainers face, but how easily it fades away when the curiosity and fascination for the music takes it place. How easily you are encapsuled in the memories of the (bittersweet?) memories the sound brings out in you and the visible genuine emotions, alas it ends soon after reality fades in again.
    I am both amazed and fascinated about your authenticity and wish you all the best for your work and your life. Keep up the good work, you are reaching a lot of people with it.

    For the longest time I ignored Sia because I thought it was Rihanna, and I can't... Rihanna. But one day, the Algorithm shoved the Unstoppable lyrics on my screen, and, instead of Rihanna, it said Sia. And, as always, before I write a mean comment, I do a quick google check to make sure I'm not the idiot on the internet. And google told me that Sia is a thing. I was sucked down the rabbit hole. Now I think Sia is the GOAT!
    Sia's journey with her appearance was riddled with deep-seated insecurity and a struggle with self-worth. She believed herself to be ugly, leading her to hide behind a wig, desperate to shield herself from others' scrutiny and the harsh judgments she imposed upon herself.
    Yet, within the veil of anonymity, something remarkable unfolded. The wig, once a mere accessory, transformed into a symbol of her humility, resilience, and authenticity. It turned her into an enigma, a goddess shrouded in mystery, captivating us with her music and her indomitable spirit.
    When she finally shed the wig, it was as though she had bared her soul to the world, revealing the raw beauty and vulnerability that lay beneath, triumphing over her self-perception issues. Her hauntingly beautiful voice alone possessed the power to move mountains and touch the deepest recesses of our souls.
    And though time may have left its mark, our hearts will forever resonate with her voice. For Sia is more than just a singer; she is a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of music to heal and to move souls, and a reminder that true beauty lies not on the surface of our appearance but in the depths of our hearts.

    I’ve been in love with Sia’s musical genius since around ‘97 when she first started to get solo music out there. Though I absolutely adore her modern talent, there’s nothing like her first few albums… a markedly different style and such pure emotion the likes we rarely see in music of today. One of my favorite performances is “Breathe Me” she did live on a radio show years ago, still makes me weep every time I watch it. Sia is truly transcendent :)

      RayPosSiable what do you mean her technique?? I don’t understand she sounds good tho😩

    • @skylerpowers8871
      @skylerpowers8871 6 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      RayPosSiable Her technique has honestly much improved. She regularly strains her belts when she reaches above Eb5, but she virtually never goes above Eb5 live for that very reason, opting instead for weighty belts in the A4-C#5 range with occasional and brief notes in the D5-Eb5 range. Besides that straining above Eb5 (which now only happens in the studio), the only real flaws are her vocal cracking and diction. I like her vocal cracks and they aren't unhealthy by themselves, but they were caused by substance abuse and past straining, so it's sort of a flaw. And her diction, while very distinct, is often hard to understand. Certain vocal analysis sites rank her as a C level vocalist, but I don't really see how this is fair. I'd say she's an A- or at least a B+. She's by no mean perfect, but her flaws are honestly minimal. I'd say she's more of a B+ though due to her lack of head voice versatility, occasional straining, and her apparent inability to mix her belts.

    • @nero3069
      @nero3069 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      The voice cracks of hers are controlable she does it to modify her vowels plus we now know that there is a safe way of adding distortion and ''cracking'' our voice without damaging the vocal cords

    • @jodavitow
      @jodavitow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      the cracks are easily done on purpose, I can do those. Anatomically speaking, if they were actually caused by damage to her voice (meaning all parts of the body that are used in the singing process but mainly her windpipe and vocal chords, which would be the ones to be causing the cracking) she wouldn't be able to sing whatsoever or sustain notes at all, which she is. So the cracks are definitely purposely done.
      Technique wise she isn't perfect, her voice placement is not the best but it is not the worst either, it's frontal enough for it to be healthy, she hardly strains where she's comfortable, has a rather free voice which is nice. It is also smart for singers to sing a little lower key live to keep their voice healthy so I applaud her for that. She also has a good breath support which helps a lot with health and makes it the voice sound so much better. I agree her biggest issue as a singer is the pronunciation even tho I low key love it despite not understanding like 30% of what she's saying.
      Overall I think her biggest asset as a singer is just, as Rebecca pointed out, her pure rawness. She is like a different kind of soulful, she conveys so much emotion with her voice. Her phrasing is so unique and emotionally constructed and her voice is so powerful that it just gets to you. I agree her technique is far from the best but she doesn't do anything unhealthy to her voice and her voice and her own technique are just pure gold so I don't even care (and this is coming from someone really critical with singers' techniques). I live for Sia and I can't wait for another million albums from her (PLEAAAASE).

    • @elphbwckd212
      @elphbwckd212 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@skylerpowers8871 her voice cracks are intentional. She has talked about it in interviews and in her carpool karaoke video. She does it to be unique but it also helps her flip between low noted and high notes. I do the same when I sing certain songs, though I dont make it as extreme as she does. She does it for style.

    I've been a huge fan since the early '00s with her "Drink to get drunk" single.
    She's not the best singer in terms of technique but she always gets me so emotional. The cracks on her voice somehow reflect the cracks of her soul. She's so unique in her imperfection that you don't mind the vocal flaws. You've already been drawn in her world and there's no turning back. 🦄
