I just love your video. It is the best. I have made a batch of cold porcelain clay and want to make the cala lilies like yours. About how thick was your clay after you rolled it out? Will you please make other videos for us to learn how to make different flowers. Thank you so very much. I can't wait to hear from you and possibly see other videos.
Sorry I missed your message!! Yes, sure, I'll make other flowers when my time allows. I thought there are a few making flower tutorials already that I didn't put much to it, but I can share some of my methods too! Thanks for your time watching this video!
Thanks for watching my video! The background music is the standard music at TH-cam- 1812 Overture (by Tchaikosvky). You can search for it at editing panel.
You can use acrylic paints or paints for plastic model. It will look like these: sculptor101.deviantart.com/art/The-Dawn-432659614 sculptor101.deviantart.com/art/May-Candle-Jar-Topper-464752434
You may Google it or visit their website at: www.sculpey.com/super-sculpey/6-super-sculpey I have no idea where to by it in India. I purchase them in art stores, craft supply stores or some local online shops.
That's nail polish remover, use it with nylon brushes for better result. Remember to test nail polish remover on a piece of clay first before you buy it. Since each brands may vary in its compounds. The nail polish remover should be able to dissolve the surface of clay. Otherwise it may look like water drops on clay and wouldn't work.
I normally sculpt my figurines in sections to get more details. And baked for a couple times when each parts finished. Some pieces even went in and out of the oven for more than 10 times. Of course, over baking is not good for this clay. The point is, each time of baking, lower down the temperature a bit and shorten the baking time according to the clay box said, cover the baked area with aluminum foil (aluminum baking sheet), especially thin and pointed areas to prevent burning. Only expose the unbaked soft clay area. That should keep you put in and out of the oven to probably 15 times or more.
But the color of baked clay might go deeper. Each oven may vary, you'll need to test it and get a good temp and time for the balance. My oven is 30L size, I bake for small pieces, parts or whole figurines from 2~7 or 8 inches figures, each time in oven 10~15 minutes in 105~110°C/220~230°F (no preheat), "only turn on the lower heat, not the heat from top". Put your clay in a thick piece of cardboard. That should worked.
Like the result, but video is too drawn out, most of it on texturing the petal, which is easy enough and not necessary to repeat over and over again. Short and to the point is the secret to a good video. Like the flowers though, thank you.
It seems that have an intimate knowledge of the Calla lily to begin with. The way you bring it to life in the clay is impressive.
Good job!

Do you bake the clay???
Yes, I bake the clay. It won’t keep the shape unless you bake it.
What type of clay is this?
It’s Super Sculpey, but you can use the methods on other similar clay.
But amazing
Thanks!!

For beginners these techniques are really important....though this video is 7 years old but still it's very informative.
