  • The City of Allen has just recently implemented a new Public Safety Computer Aided Dispatch System. The CAD is a system of hardware and software, vehicle locators and integrated equipment which all allow the public safety communications center to receive emergency calls, pinpoint the location of the emergency, and then effectively send the appropriate resources to the scene.

Thank you! I am 15 years old and wanting to become an officer. I am interested in learning all that I can about the force and software used and what it does. I also ask real officers to inform me on the matters as well, This helped me understand a lot about the CAD system and its materials.

I was wondering how everything was used for the CAD system this was an okay description of it. I was wanting to know how to use it. This kinda hinted on what was going on with everyone working together while using the system. MMM Its okay.

OH&S should change the phone system handset to headsets as so they don't bend their necks for every phone call

+Adam C (ads) I was thinking the same thing. In the town where I live dispatchers use head sets. Hands free work.

I find it difficult to imagine full time workstations without headsets. I wonder if the one shown in the video is a demo/temporary workstation

I was thinking the same thing while watching this video. They have a state of the art (for 2012) computer aided dispatching system while cradling an old school telephone handset in the crook of her neck. Where are the headsets? Headsets have been used for decades.

@@electronixTech I came to the comments (years late) just to see if anyone else picked that up as well. Isn't it easier to type without holding a phone receiver to your shoulder?

How do you even become a dispatcher for example? Seems like a tough, complex job. But where do they teach it? How would one join? Interesting...

Thanks for the comment. To answer your question the specific training requirements are dependent on the agency and there is much variation.
In Texas there are mandated courses and licensing that must be completed. At the City of Allen, personnel are sent to a Telecommunicator Academy in order to complete the state mandated courses and licensing. There is also an in-house training program that is broken up into phases which represent each of the positions (call taking, police dispatch, fire dispatch and NCIC). This entire training process takes about nine months. All of the training is provided through the city.

Did yall know its illegal to hack someone and provoke them and also to put a citizen life in jeopardy by violation of the rights it is natural instinct for individual to defend himself when his rights are being violated not following process of law or sending out a summons to notify the individual is a violation of process if individual is higher educated than you and this matter you are not even allowed to speak with that individual
