What are some other pirate videos you guys would like to see?
Stuff about privateers and how they eventually became pirates? If I have that right
@@skoboviik5792 I'll be putting out an episode about Henry Morgan soon and that covers a lot of that information.
A brief history of Nassau in pirate times!
Jean Lafitte!
Luffy our future pirate king hahahahaha
Would be nice to see something about pirates that didn't sail at the caribbean. Met quite a few who didn't have a clue that there were pirates in Europe as well
Certainly down the road but, at least for now, I want to stick to the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy. I’m also interested in exploring the Pacific as well. We’ll get to the other areas of the world in time. 🏴☠️
@@ThePiratesPort Can't wait to see it😁
The story of Rockawl (spelling?) would be fantastic.
To the shores of Tripoli.
Indian Ocean had pirate fleets. The richest was a Chinese female pirate.
I learned not a thing lol. I’m so glad that you are speaking truth so others know it as well. Shiver me timbers
I loved this channel, I will watch it all. I can see you love pirates history as much as me
Awesome channel. I love your research and content!
It is still illegal to fly a Pirate Flag in Canadian Waters according to the Canadian Shipping Act (S-9-1970)
Underrated channel 👍
Was enjoying the voyage and suddenly we heard GOMU GOMU NO....
"They're stealing our flag design..."
"Bloody pirates!!!"
What a rabbit hole guys
One last thing....when I was in the Navy my ship the USS Buchanan DDG-14 had the Jolly Roger as it's legitimate naval ships flag.
Very informative and well-researched!
Thanks Baylus!
Very nice video..I'm a really big fan of pirates of all shapes and sizes from the age of sail to Somalia in the 2000's and I think it would be cool if you could maybye talk about alot of pirate controlled islands ik you already covered nassau but I think it would be cool if you could look at other places such as tortuga or Madagascar or port royal etc. Just a little request
Glad you liked the video! There’s a video for Port Royal too. Hopefully I can get more done in the future.
I'd love to hear some of the roles women might have played during all of the pillage and plunder.
Anne Bonny and Mary Read participated really actively in battle, they were actually the most ruthless members of Calico Jack's crew, acting as his left and right hand
When out at sea how did pirates identified other pirates when they did not flew the jolly roger?
Was there ever pirate infighting?
Just some video ideas
4:50 I thought Blackbeard flew the traditional Skull and Crossbones?
He did. The devil's skeleton flag was attributed to him from bordbuch Des Satans, which was written centuries after the golden age of piracy.
No it was the devil and I could be wrong I think a heart being pierced
Apparently there’s a pirate museum in Florida, maybe a next video??
cool history.
Hoist the colors
Black and red comrade
I've seen videos that say that the flag described was not flown by blackbeard.
It's possible he didn't but it's not something that anybody could ever verify, one way or another, to be honest.
@@ThePiratesPort I hate to be that guy but it is almost certain Blackbeard didn't fly that flag. The flag itself first presence in history was 200 years after blackboards death and wasn't even falsely attributed to him until 1970. What accounts do exist from the time attribute to him flying a simple skull or red flags.
@@tzavalancheExcept for the devil horns, that flag is described in Captain Charles Johnson's 1724 book, though he attributes it to Francis Spriggs.
I DID learn something new.
Thank you for this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ThePiratesPort I'm just now getting into pirate lore, earned yourself a subscriber !
Was the red flag plain red or did it feature designs too?
The jolly roger should be flown nowadays.
Who were the pirates? It takes skill to sail a ship.
i wonder if the red flag comes from the French Oriflame flag which was flown during the 100 years war to show the English soldiers "no Quarter given / No prisoners to be taken."
Very possible Galvin!

I hate to disappoint you sir, but The Jolly Roger flag is allowed to be flown for traditional purposes in modern times like today!
Yeah, where did the video say it wasn’t?
The jolie rouge, quite possibly where the name came from which then carried over to the black flag.
🏴☠️LOCOS RENEGADOS POR VIDA
I been watching too much One Piece
Bristol x❤😂😂
What is the meaning of the expression “jolly roger”? Why the name roger? Why jolly?
As I said in the video "Old Roger" was a nickname for the Devil among the English, so Jolly (meaning happy) Roger may have signified the evil the pirates would carry out against the crew (gladly doing the devil's work) if a ship didn't surrender. It's also been theorized that it comes from the French "Joli Rouge" ("Pretty Red"), but I'm less convinced on that.
@@ThePiratesPort you have explained that so clearly, i can’t ever get a better explanation
Jolly roger came from a french word "joli rouge" which means pretty red (referring to the red flag pirates use if they aren't showing mercy).
Yeah, I'm not a big believer in that theory..
I love this symbol evil but its nice.
It’s nice seeing real life adapting to a popular anime
Blessed be scallys❤😂🎉x

I was under the impression, perhaps wrongly misinformed, that the pirate Richard Worley was the first to fly the familiar Deaths head with two crossed bones on a black background.
Che 🦅🦁🐒⚜️☠️
An appropriate flag to fly when president grandpa. Joe comes out of the. Basement.
The use of trademark and intellectual property in relation to the pirate flag and pirates is absurd as, really, would they have given a damn.?
