    Gidday bros I’m from nz and a hot tip about oysters is they are at their biggest in winter and they are smaller in summer because that’s when they are spawning. Be awesome to see them in the winter when the whole shells are full. As always tho love watching all your episodes and they always give me inspiration to get out myself. Cheers wild reaches

    I know I say it every single week mate, but WOW!! How special a place, and how lucky are we to live in this country! I miss the cape! Can’t wait for the tourists to slow down up there a bit one day soon and I’ll be back! I miss it! Traveled around the cape for 4 months ten years ago not as many people traveling up there then! Have been back for three short trips since but you are making me neeeeed it baaaad now! Haha

      Try a Vietnamese style dipping sauce with those oyster! Vinegar caster sugar grated carrot and chilli! That’s about it! Awesome

    great sauce with BB oysters is a sweet/sticky soy. just get soy sauce and reduce it down with a crapload of brown sugar, maybe a hint of chilli to taste

    Great video footage of the Cape!! You should check out Stanage Bay in central QLD for big oysters and some of the biggest mud crabs in Australia as well as great fishing and wildlife. Cheers

    Chef's advice: Wasabi Kewpie mayo.... yumm! or pickle ginger and kewpie! If you pre flour your fish and oyster's the batter will stick better. Wicked episode guys :) Jezza and Courtney

      Stoked you enjoyed it mate!! I’m no expert so I’m sure others will jump in here and let you know.. but they are a different family group mate so complete different fish. Same habitat sometimes but cod are found in a lot of different environments. I reckon they’re both super tasty with similar looking flesh. Coral trout are better tho 😉

      Don’t think so mate. Iv always been under the impression you can’t target them. If you catch one whilst targeting something else you have to de hook them in the water if possible 😳…

      Just need to get the correct zoning map for the area mate. There are all sorts of zones all in small areas.

    Id dip them in kfc sweet n sour, or plumb bbq. im lovin what you guys have done with cooking them. I go starcke once a year but will be more frequent when i move to cairns and ill go further south next time for hand sized oysters haha

    When I find oysters like that I throw the whole rock in the coals and wait for them to pop, eat them half cooked or cook them completely on the fire!!

      No we didnt mate. not yet anyway. What a crazy rule, I understand not taking them home or taking mass numbers but taking a handful each up the beach a bit to cook them at camp...

    Put the oyster in the shell, into a cast iron fry pan on a bed of dry ribbon sea weed. Smoke for app 20 min. The shell opens and away you go. Bloody lovely and so easy.

      @@WildReaches Found Tassie oysters while big weren't as good as the Sydney rock we get in NSW North coast. Tried this method out and they were very nice. Used a ribbon looking seaweed dried because of the abundance on the beach. Usually prefer oysters natural, but this was so easy to do. Worked well cut up on wraps and with a tossed salad. Drink with Millers Chill. ( app x 6 )
