- Heralded as a luxury SUV, this CX-60 estate comes ready with a lot to offer, but is it enough? Duncan Vincent puts this new entry into the SUV market through its paces, giving you the full rundown on whether this Japanese plug-in hybrid - Mazda’s first ever - has what it takes.
Based off the award-winning Kodo: Soul of Motion design philosophy, the CX-60 makes an impression with its sharp looks and luxurious interior - made with Nappa white leather for maximum impact. The CX-60 has a lot to live up to as Mazda’s first ever plug-in hybrid, so with fuel consumption of 188.3mpg and CO2 emissions of just 33g/km, Mazda has made a strong statement to show that its ready for the growing shift in the automotive industry.
But it’s not just its economic credentials that are set to impress; with a state-of-the-art infotainment system, Bose sound system, cutting-edge safety features and a boot boasting 570 litres of space, Duncan Vincent will have his work cut out unpacking everything in just one video review.

At last, a review that meets my owner experience. Admittedly, early CX-60s had suspension problems that had to be remedied by dealer replacement shocks, plus a few other ‘bugs’ that had to be ironed out (typical new car syndrome). Recent production cars like mine are vastly better. I switched to this Mazda after a succession of Mercedes/Jaguar and saved myself £12,000 against the equivalent PHEV SUVs from these ‘premium’ brands. Brand snobs won’t agree, but I think it’s class leading at a budget price.
Is the car as good as you hoped? Got mine in order, expected delivery August 23
I'm seriously thinking of getting one , I've been on the brink twice , you seem to be very happy with yours ....
Im thinking to buy PHEV version becouse i dont like diesels. But as you mention, i readed alot of bad reviews. There are problems with bumpers, strange vibration between 50 and 80 km/h coming from bottom, 12v battery capacity,DAB radio, EV range, missing fuel tank capacity and ao on. I cant purchase new car so im looking for used ones, but i jave problem becouse i dont know where is the time line between bad and good production. So can you tell me if you have any problems i mention and when did you get car? Would be also happy if you share other experience...consumption, acceleration, driving experience and so on. Thx
This is interesting. All I keep hearing about is an over firm ride. I ordered one two months ago and will be picking it up in about 3 weeks. Do you reckon I can expect uprated springs/dampers on mine?
Very pleased with my cx60 Takumi, same as used in this review. Purchased in March 23, I have not experienced any of the issues found in early reviews. Covered 3000 miles in 12 weeks, lots of rural roads and some effortless motorway driving. 56 m p g overall. Car as supplied has tyres Inflated to hard for my use ( 40 psi ) I don't carry any load , so 36 in the rear, 38 front,
Great review , you can tell you really enjoyed the driving experiance 👍
Thanks. Duncan really enjoyed driving the CX-60. Really glad that comes across. He didn't want to give it back at the end of the shoot.
Mazda official site says boot space is 477L
Hello! The boot space is 477 litres with the seats up, but including the underfloor space this is 570 litres, a figure quoted in most places. This expands to 1726 litres with the seats down. Hope this clarifies things.
