Miss Texas USA 1983-2022 Crowning Moments

- Unlike the rest of the Miss and Teen state pageants in the Miss USA system have annually scheduled at the same time, these Miss and Teen pageants in Texas are held separately in different months, the Miss pageant goes first and is held on the first Sunday of September every year. Those events have affected the regular September schedule as the 2018 pageant was held in January 2018 due to Hurricane Harvey devastated the pageant's host city, Houston; and the 2021 pageant was held in September 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, exactly a year originally planned for September 2020.
Ten Miss Texas USA titleholders have won the Miss USA title, including Chelsi Smith, who has been crowned Miss Universe. In the 1980s Texas won the Miss USA title five consecutive years from 1985 to 1989, a streak known as the "Texas Aces". Prior to this, no state had ever won the Miss USA pageant more than two times in succession. Past state directors have included Richard Guy and Rex Holt, "GuyRex" and Al and Gail Clark of "The Crystal Group".
The current titleholder is Allison Drake of Dallas, Texas, who assumed the position after R'Bonney Gabriel's win at Miss USA 2022 and eventually Miss Universe 2022. She was originally the second runner-up and only assumed the title when Sydni Leonard, the first runner-up to Gabriel at the state pageant, declined the offer. Miss Texas USA 2023 will be crowned on July 15, 2023, and the pageant will be held in Houston.

It’s kind of cool that Miss Universe was at Chelsi state crowning. Considering she ended up winning with universe. It feels so appropriate.

I remember watching the Miss USA 2011 pageant when Ana Rodriguez was Miss TX. She was the first from Laredo to win the crown
Something curious happens here, and it is that there are some girls who were the first runners-up and in the following years they won the crown.
Crystle Stewart: 2006 - 2007
Brooke Daniels: 2008
Ana Rodriguez: 2010
R'Bonney Gabriel: 2021
Crystle competed for five years before winning. Brooke competed three years before winning. Ana competed four years before winning. R'Bonney only competed two years. Many of the eventually Miss USA winners placed either in the semifinals or the Top 5 before winning.
Kandace competed 6 times before winning.

And another 1RU left to win in another state (Leanne Locken, 1RU to Michelle Royer in 1987. She became Miss Arizona USA in 1989 and placed in the top 10 at Miss USA 1989 Gretchen).
I really like this video, when Laura Martinez became Miss U.S.A. l was very youg back than l was in junior high in El Paso.. and l waited to see her and say hi, at Mesa st. And San Antonio. I love Texas. I thank you for this..really appreciated for acknowledging Texan beauty queens from 1983 until 2022. Hope you keep adding and updating as the years goes by... The most amazing part was from 1985 to 1989 when Texas won the Miss USA crown for 5 CONSECUTIVE YEARS. No state or country has ever made that feat.

Fun fact when the girl is from Houston they win miss universe r’bonney and chelsie both represented regions in Houston friendswood and Galveston

Miss Texas USA 1983 won Most Photogenic at Miss USA and also ranked #1 in final scores. However, the judges awarded the title to Miss California, Julie Hayek, who ranked #2 in final scores.
Okay, what's your point? Lisa lost to Julie in the final round of questioning. Julie's answer was on point. The same thing happened to Christy Fitchner at MU'86 after she lost to Barbara Palacios-Teyde. Christy was robbed of the title, however. Robbed!!!
Just wondering, did Harris County send a lot of representatives each year? They do well! Some many end up as first runner up or even winning the pageant😅🤔. Incredible
Honestly Magen deserved way better at miss USA and miss teen USA. My sentimental favorite is Logan, something about her is so fun. I also love Ana she was super sexy and hot. Also Ali, her eyes are incredible with her dark hair.

Why does the subtitle say R'bonney "resigned" as Miss USA as she becomes Miss Universe? She did NOT resign technically! If so, Chelsea Smith also "resigned", but the subtitle didn't indicate so!

I know right. Coincidentally, it was the first black Miss Texas USA as well as the first Asian Miss Texas USA who ended up winning Miss Universe.
@@angelique8066 Yeah it was history... i watch them both competing live on tv and they are d only Miss USA that i was rooting to win MU.. i really jump for joy watching them won the crown.. same feeling at that moment.. im not American but happy for their victory.. so proud of them
