Enya's lyricist Roma Ryan also said of this song that such dreams are not exactly about recalling the day, dreams a parent has for their child, nor dreams at night. "It's more inner strength, awareness of others, the qualities that you would associate with Christmas, spirituality, these are the true dreams I think." ♡
This song was also used as a theme tune for a Japanese drama in 2009, Arifureta Kiseki (Ordinary Miracles). Enya was moved by the story idea that it was about two people becoming closer, after the lady stops the man from taking his own life. 💭asianwiki.com/Ordinary_Miracles

When I was a new Enya fan (in 2021 ☺️) I used to think that Dreams Are More Precious was her latest song 😅 because it appeared to be the newest upload (before the Watermark official video:)

I always saw it as Enya being very caring and reassuring with the words she sang, especially "give me your sorrow, and I'll keep watch for you" 😌 almost like looking after a stranger at a difficult time. Kind of like a guardian angel, but more in-person, allowing the person to be themselves, and value their spiritual side and dreams. 🤗🌌
The lyric "nothing is as it seems" also reminds me of the song Once Upon A Dream from Sleeping Beauty (1959) when Aurora (voice actress Mary Costa) sings "it's true, that visions are seldom all they seem". That idea adds to the magical, mysterious, sometimes playful nature of inner dreams. 😁🪄
Overall, it's a wonderful song, and I think it also highlights the importance and nature of dreams - to cheer us up, especially at low or sorrowful times - having hopeful dreams could even save one's life. 😌
Around a year ago Enya's message (translating as "We will meet again soon") in the liner notes of A Box of Dreams was shared. 🕊⏳️
Hopefully "soon" will be later this year, in 2024 🤩 I hope the trio are all doing well, and anyone who is reading this and listening. 💌
