@@LITTLE1994 Or 16mm prints on eBay, if you can afford it. Despite this, though, I say the Japanese intro is better. The theme song is much more majestic and epic sounding, and it has footage that the American intro didn't have. Though to the American intro's credit, it did do a good job of adapting the theme song, as opposed to replacing it altogether.
theres a reason why the game looks the way it does, basically they pulled a ultimate battle 22 and brought it over years after it was released, which I believe its orginal date was somewhere in 1996

Looks like an adaptation of an arcade machine I’ve seen around the same time the show was getting reruns on MTV of all places. Still not as fun as the SNES version you use the exercise bike to run.
I heard this is actually good. Will have to check it out. Loved the cartoon growing up. (Used to catch it late at night in New York. Always seemed very psychedelic to me).
@@LITTLE1994 I was lucky enough to find some IDW reprints of the Racer X comic a while back. Some good stories with him doing espionage while on a race. Like one where he has to find an assassin among the other drivers in a cross country race before they reach the victim.

I wish they wouldve put in an arcade mode where you race against the clock and have to get to the checkpoint to get time extensions. That's like this game's fatal flaw--there's really no way to lose other than coming in last
I am a big fan of the iconic 1967 anime that dawned it all to us in the United States, but I never knew the series had a PS1 game. This actually feels like a decent arcade-style racing game very much like Daytona USA, only adding some of their iconic cars in. I'm not surprised the GRX is the fastest car in the game, like it SHOULD be.
Speed racer is best racing games and TV show. Speed racer is TV show anime japan, in adaptation live action at year 2007 in U.S.A from studio warner bros, speed racer the game has more release in several platform, first arcade, Nintendo 64,PS1, PS2, Wii, Java, DS
From what I've played, I don't see why this game has the negative reputation it does. Granted, I emulated it, but still. The only flaw I see is the blatant lack of content, which, yeah, I could see this being a huge letdown for someone that had to pay for it full price back in the 90s, but it's not like it's a broken mess or anything. It plays fine enough and is a decent way to pass time if there's nothing better to do.
In the JP release (made by TOMY in '96, Jaleco followed in '98), not only the replay music is way different but also the announcer says: "Welcome **to the AMANODAI Circuit**." Lots of textures are different like the sponsor signs, the Amanodai building and the tunnel for the M and L courses but the game looked a little pixelated (which Jaleco made it better from there only)
The movie was released 10 years later after this game came out. I like it, but the thing that i don't like about the film is the Epileptic-Spy-kids CGI and the annoying scenes of the over-reacted T.V commentarists.

I know, right. The original Trans-Lux versions are so hard to find. The only real way to watch them is through the old VHS releases...

I'm surprised Sega didn't have a hand in this, seeing how much it was almost a Daytona USA clone with the exception of cars from the anime.
fun fact it was made with the Ridge Racer engine
I used to play this game when I was a kid. I love that game.
They must have had Daytona USA on their mind making this game. The HUD looks like a compressed version, even more so then Daytona Saturn.
Okay, I just had to make sure I wasn't the only one who thought this.
the minute i saw the gameplay, that's when i thought the same too
Game over, yeahhhh
I remember this game in PS1. But missed that it haven't a story mode and more tracks.

i'm surprised they got the opening for the show in this game
@@CrazyChris622 Yep! And the TV animation show on the Arcade at Namco
I loved this Anime series when I was a child, 5 yr.
Brings back lots of memories.
Just me or is this very "Daytona USA"-esque?
The rev counter, speedo, track map, checkpoints, even the way the car moves, all feel very familiar.
I thought the same thing! I feel like it's the same exact engine it's built on
It is very similar to that game.

Beavis and Butt-head and Speed Racer, and that one episode of Dexter's Laboratory. My childhood

Better choice than the game based on the movie based on the anime.
Racer X is badass, sadly no spycraft in his races.

why does the hud looks almost the same as Daytona USA? Did the developer asked some help from Sega?
No grass physics at all, but this game looks surprisingly well-made otherwise. Very Daytona USA.

"Hey, catch him!" when someone pulls ahead of you.
