I had the same surgery and It usually takes 6 months to a year to fully fuse. I am currently 3 months post op and although I feel much better than I did pre op, my bones are not fused yet.

Donna I'm at my 6th month still in pain. I had an MRI done at 6 months and it still hasn't fully healed doc said it looks about 1/2. It also looks like the nerve still does not have enough space. Please get back to me. Thanks

i like how he said he would miss some of the playoffs. lol without him we would never get near the playoffs. Just ask Jim Morra.

@Xemnort2x Any kind of surgery to the spine will take a little time to heal properly, this type of surgery may take a few months until all physical restrictions are cleared. Unfortunately for the Colts, he had to have his recovery time during this season, but we all hope to see him back up and playing next season.

@duckgirl2 Glad you are feeling better after your surgery. Every patient is a little different in their recovery so you are right it may take 6 months to a year for some patients to fully fuse! Keep up the good work!

I heard there was a 3rd surgery? What is the reason for the third surgery?

Peyton is going to be fine, I'm sure of it. 3 months is not that long anyway. I just hope we can make it to the playoffs so that if Peyton is willing to play there would still be hope to make it to the Super Bowl. After all, he is Peyton Manning, when he returns it will be as if he never had any problems, no rust. haha! =]

I am no Peyton Manning and he is probably the best QB today or ever. I do relate to his injury however as I have had excruciating pain since Jan/12 in my right arm and now cannot feel my right thumb forefinger and sometimes middle finger- the worst is the surplus chemical that my brain sends down my arm (broken telegraph wire - it doesn't receive appropriate response- hence sends more) and the resulting crippling pain that all my arm muscles go through. Never had pain this bad ever in my life
