  • After years of wear and tear, Heather was experiencing significant pain associated with spinal injuries. Nervous about her future, Heather started doing research and found the Center for Disc Replacement at Texas Health Center for Diagnostics and Surgery in Plano, TX. Artificial disc replacement is a surgical procedure used to replace a painful or diseased disc in the spine with an artificial disc. This life changing procedure allows patients to maintain motion in their spine while experiencing relief from neck or back pain. Leaders in artificial disc replacement, the surgeons at the Center for Disc Replacement have performed thousands of disc replacement surgeries.

    on March 26 I am having cervical disc replacement finally. Not just my body but my head suffered cerviogenic headaches immensely. Hope I will be whole again.

    Any follow-up for how this patient is doing at the 2 year mark? Given the likelihood of eventual ASD (related to her ACDF), curious if she's still active/had a good quality of life?

      I am seven years out from my C4-C5 fusion and I have no issues with any levels above or below. My disc replacement is six years out and I just finished walking 20 miles at Disney World and ran to catch the bus! I love to do Pilates, free weights, and HIIT workouts. I’m grateful for Dr. Guyer’s expertise and I owe it to him for my pain free life!

      @@TexasHealthSurgeryPlano thanks for your reply. My problem - I think- is that doctors feel I have actually a good MRI - just mild compression. So I have figured out that they probably not sure if it is the joints. But trust me... If I ever go to Texas I will look you guys up👍

    How do insurance companies view this? Are they willing to pay or do they give you the old "Experimental" routine?

    • @TexasHealthSurgeryPlano
      @TexasHealthSurgeryPlano  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Richard, the quick answer is, it depends. There are some insurance companies that do cover this and some that either don't or make it more difficult of a process. If you are considering disc replacement, you can give us a call and we can verify your insurance and then help you figure out what your options are. Our number is 972-608-5146 or our email is TheCenterforDiscReplacement@thcds.com

      Many/most insurance will cover cervical ADR, but it's a crapshoot whereas lumbar ADR is concerned. Many carriers (to include mine, Blue Cross Federal) still consider the latter "investigational", which would require the patient to pay out-of-pocket for services.
