Apple website states that we will get “Airplay receiver” to mirror content of iPhone or iPad to the APV, but is not very clear how would this look like. Would you be able to see the iPhone but control it physically or through the APV.
Welcome improvements. A few weeks after I got my AVP, I made a list of things I'd like to see in visionOS 2 or 3. This update knocks out - or at least addresses - about 1/3 of them - improved Personas, easier guest user, more environments, easier Control Center, keyboard breakthrough, mouse compatibility, more Immersive shows (although still no timelines or steady releases), anchoring to surfaces, customize home view, more Mac Virtual Display real estate. There's a lot more to do but just seeing version 1 and version 2 for the first time shows an encouraging trajectory.
The ultra widescreen is one of two reasons I bought the AVP! I am losing my office and 48" ultrawide monitor to an open space setup. The AVP will help this transition be less depressing.
Can you keep us informed on how it will feel to have the AVP on for so long ? I’m afraid it’ll get annoying having to wear a device for a whole 7-hour+ day’s work… but yeah, the ultra mega widescreen is very tempting indeed
The spatial photo conversion is great. I like the new gestures. But where are the first party native apps? Where are the things we were supposed to get at launch that still aren’t here?
they have to lay the groundwork, just like how the original iphone didnt have the app store the first like 5-6 mths or so. Because they had to make sure the rest of the software was stable enough and that the app store was mostly debugged. Folks would be more upset at severely undercooked apps than not having them at all. Besides those 1st party native apps probably were not designed for the first version of the OS.
What is your experience with eye tracking? Do you have the problem that the eyes are not recognized correctly and you have to look above or below something to click on it?
The worst for me was definitely the absence of Apple Intelligence. Not even announced for later… Can you imagine that ! And the other disappointment was the lack of Apple native apps, especially for Pages and Numbers that are easy to develop. Microsoft has done it day one ! I can’t imagine that in September I’ll run my Vision Pro with a folder full of Apple non native app that are installed by default on the device.
I using my Vision Pro every single day too it’s nice to work and have your music on the side. Your message on the top have a big huge scream in front of you. I can work from my couch that easy
When you were talking about wanting more HUD from your hand gestures, it makes me think of the Disney+ what if app Which is very cool to your point would be very cool if I had to open up both hands at once do something specific open the right hand to get something different
Thank you! Please let us know how the new guest mode works out. Is it really only limited to 30 days? What happens then? Really wish they'd introduced profiles...
Really enjoyed your home office video back when you posted it, great job on this one too. Haven't taken the dive on AVP yet but your channel is my go-to for checking on its progress until then 👍
I wish Apple would ditch the version numbers, Vision OS 2, Watch OS 10, iOS 18, macOS 15 / Sequoia. iPad OS Whatever, TV OS Something. They've been doing annual releases for ages now, just use the year number. Move everything to 24. visionOS 24 watchOS 24 macOS 24 iOS 24 iPadOS 24 tsOS 24 Homepod Software 24 Much easier!
Wow, this channel has best contents on Vison Pro! A quick question please. When you actually work wearing a vision pro like working on the desktop, do you get more eye strains at all?
He’s the only person still using the Vision Pro. Mine just sits and collect dust. I did use it the other day to sit court side at the NBA Finals game 1. Amazing quality but still felt like a video .
Wait I don’t understand did the vision os 2 get released cause I can’t seem to find it on the Vision Pro when I go to software update mine is currently running 1.2
Definitely still have a lot of things they need to fix/add to make this thing incredible. Guest mode is a big deal, but damn they need to make it work with multiple people. Baby steps I guess.
I agree that literally all of these new features should have been shipped as part of Vision OS in on day 1. However, I am old enough to remember the transition from Mac OS 9 to OS X. Version 10.0 (first full public release, not a beta) was completely unusable. 10.1 (released less than a year after 10.0) did for MacOS what it appears that V2 is doing for VisionOS: fixing the worst bugs and issues that should never have seen the light of day in the initial release. It was not until 10.3 (3 years later) that OS X finally worked out its myriad kinks. The first 2 years of OS X were so bad that many people thought the whole transition would ultimately prove to be a failure. 1/4 of a century later, and MacOS has become, by far, the best operating system on the planet. It looks like VisionOS may be following a similar path. It may take a couple of iterations, but I remain optimistic about the future of this platform.
The Photos app is redesigned everywhere except the visionOS. Like cmon Apple Also where is the native Maps, Calendar, Reminders, Books, Clock, Pages, Numbers and apps. Not even Apple Intelligence and the new Siri is coming to visionOS. I think Apple got their development teams way too spent to respond to that AI hype cycle, than their new platform 💀
Apple is right as 66% of their revenue is from iPhones and Apple Intelligence will drive a supercycle than few units sold. iPhone sells 200million+ units a year
I’ve had the ability to SharePlay pix for quite some time, to people over the phone. If you’re talking about AVP on AVP action, then that’s something I can’t speak to.
I still dont understand apple vision pro. 😅 its supposed to be a stand alone computer. But its sooooo limited. And everything is in Beta. And its soooo expensive 😂. I might consider getting one once OS2 is out
Being able to Airplay to the AVP is a half-hearted attempt to legitimize the unit as part of the Apple Ecosystem. Until we have full Home Sharking the AVP remains a bastard child of the ecosystem. For those of us who have had AppleTV since 2007 (when there was no media available for it) or who started with iPod 1 (when there was no media available for it)....we have significant collections of media that cannot be accessed by AVP because Home Sharing is not there. I can drop a video file into iCloud and play it...but if the aspect ratio is greater than 1.77 (i.e. anything in Cinemascope or 70 mm) AVP simply chops off both ends rather than fitting. it into the letterbox. Moral of the story: the AVP needs full access to Home Sharing with Quicktime-like app to access media.
spatial photos have no objective purpose, the view is still restricted by the angle and perspective, like a normal picture you cannot touch, you can’t go around it, all you can do is look, the same as a 2D picture.
