The Grammy award-winning pianist Daniel Barenboim has been active on the concert stage since the age of seven when he made his stage debut in his hometown of Buenos Aires. Well known for his work with the East-Western Divan Orchestra, a group of young Arab and Israeli musicians, he is currently the director of the Berlin State Opera, La Scala (Milan) and the Staatskapelle Berlin. Barenboim is described as "one of the few musicians in the world today who could accurately be describe as legendary".

Always love listening to the Boim play the Beet.
This is part of the human inheritance, these videos should be public forever
We are so fortunate to live in an age when these performances are so easily available and will be there long after the great musicians have gone: Beethoven and Barenboim have their place in eternity
Stunning performance of this wonderful sonata...Beethoven is always fantastic to listen to.
No matter how many time I hear it that segue from the Adagio into the Rondo never ceases to move me, 40 years after I first heard Roger Woodward do it at the Sydney Opera House. What a perfect sense of modulations Beethoven had ...
Una meglio dell'altra!! E tutte rigorosamente a memoria... Senza spartito!!! Un inchino.
This sonata is fantastic and never ceases to astonish me
Maravilhosa! De grande expressão criativa.
This is gold, pure gold, what a pianist ...

Maybe Brendel but It's hard to say
Wilhelm Kempff and Emil Gilels much better beautiful colorful piano sound than second-rated Barenboim! Barenboim so over-rated!!

見事ですね❤️
Bravoー!!😆
You: plays Beethoven piano sonata No.19
Your friend:
Never knew how they did that at 26:06.
There are three different interpretations. Still under debate as to what the composer did. Barenboim splits the octave scales and many do glissandos but the score indicates octave scales. 🤷♂️
„Waldstein“ was dedicated to lord Waldstein...
Maybe this performance was dedicated to haydn?
"Count" Ferdinand Ernst Joseph Gabriel von Waldstein und Wartenberg
nice
grazie
WELCHE FREUE!

00:25
Is this the concert where he played all 32 sonatas?
yes
This piece isn’t dedicated to Haydn, like it says in the beginning...
I think he means that he dedicated the performance
No 20 was. Maybe he just confused it
@@georgepantzikis7988 Possibly because Haydn himself would have very likely have jammed in this room at Razumovsky's joint ...
Eri youtube -versioista tämä svengaa minulla parhaiten.
barenboim in 2005 is best

What?
@@agustinbaldomerolopez4934 I'm analyzing it. It's to remember where i left it. jajajj
Jajajajaja
heyyy did you finish your analyze
@@mhuten i think so, can't remember right now if i finished it. Do you whant it? It's in spanish but i think that you may understand it.
Bit too slow...
yes, but mostly it is even played much slower... do you know if Fazil Say had performed this ever?
i meant the 1st set, the 3rd set is really too slow
The speed is subject to individual interpretation. I like to juggle different recordings to have a fresh experience. Barenboim is famous for being Beethoven's interpreter and I think he does the job well.
I thought if anything the first movement was faster than I'd expect
Wait yeah, the other two are pretty slow. I think the 2nd can be played almost as slow as you like, but Barenboim's 2nd here, as with Valentina Lisitsa's, does drag on a bit, the 3rd is really hard to get right, too many people play it like some sort of sprint where it's just too fast, but you definitely can play it too slowly, as I think he does here
