This was a cover and a tribute to the older songs but maybe the great pretender had a meaning for Freddie because he was sort of one,in his personal life he was a shy quiet person.in his party life he was flamboyant and out there. In his professional life he was a artist like no other.A perfectionist with the ultimate crowd control. So maybe he was sort of pretending sometimes.

This was amazing! The behind the scenes peaks of this video are hilarious! Roger Taylor is one of the "back-up" singers and watching him picking outfits with the others is too amazingly funny!

Your open mind and warm reaction to this video is moving. If Freddie had made it to 2020 I believe he'd find some creative, innovative, and uniquely "Freddie" way of positively helping or distracting his fans around the world during this pandemic. He always had a brave, smiling face and "show must go on" attitude for the public, despite his private battles. We can miss his presence, but celebrate reactions like yours here. Thank you.

Man oh man, there is no one like the late, great Freddie Mercury. Love this and I feel like he made this song his own with his powerful vocals as well as the theatrical flare he added. Totally agree with you Ty, sometimes a cover is better than the original. This just made my day, listened to this as I am preparing to go to work, so thank you for the great pick. Blessings💕

A great cover by The Great Freddie, there will never be another like him..so many have tried to get to his standard but always fell short..A wonderful homage as well to the Queen days..awesome vocals and showed his love of motown..true that some covers can surpass the original and Freddie showed that perfectly in this Video...TY for your honest reaction as always

Freddy Mercury always wanted to work on solo projects. This song/video was recorded in 1987 as a tribute to the many personas he played with Queen. 1987 was also the year he was diagnosed with AIDS. BTW...He shaved off his mustache because he thought it would look better for the ballet sequence ♥️

Back in 1971 i attended job corps in McKinney, Texas. I was the assistant to the activitty director for a few months and he told me that some frirends of his was going to perform for us and he wanted me to help set up the stage and help them when they arrived. It turned out his friends were the Platters and I really had a blast helping them when I could. Hearing them perform in person was great and I remember that expertence fondly. Freddy Mercury covered the song well and I liked the video .

I think that more than anything this video, which was done during the period of time he was pursuing a solo career outside of Queen in the late '80s, may have referred to both his life and his musical career. Remember, he was living during the time when it really wasn't ok to be gay, and in England had been illegal until 1967 (the year I graduated from high school), only 5 years before Queen released it's first album. and he never "officially" came out and didn't "announce" his AIDs until the day before he died. His flamboyant performance style was also pretty far from his private personality. In his solo work he actually worked under the pseudonym "Larry Lurex" for early work (in the '70s) outside of Queen. My own opinion was that this song was about the ways he had to "pretend" in his life.

This Music Video was a ''homage'' you can say, To all his old Music Video's he did. React to *_Brian May - Resurrection (Official Music Video)._* That's the Most underrated thing That Brian May (the Guitarist of Queen) ever had. That's Brian May's Solo song and it is really really underrated and it has to have a reaction on TH-cam. It really deserved it. Brian is Playing the Guitar and Lead singing there of course.

So glad to see you back to reacting to a Queen/Freddie Mercury video! Love that Roger joined in to the backup singers. Roger makes a gorgeous girl! Good thing he was a "renowned" ladies man if you know what I mean! This was one of Freddie's great solo projects. If you haven't reacted to "I was Born to Love you" by Freddie (not Queen) or "Love me like there's no tomorrow", please do!!!

Elvis covered a lot of songs made famous from other artists. Whitney Houston did with I will always love u. I dont think Dolly is mad since all royalties went to :her. Great thoughts on this Ty

I know that you are a Christian so please say a prayer for my husband. He loved Queen, watching the movie over and over. He died 6 days ago on Sunday morning. I found him like that. I was just numb for days. We have to wait until we can have a military funeral. My husband served in the Vietnam War and was exposed to Agent Orange. For the last 10 years Agent Orange has been slowly destroying his internal organs. It finally killed him with a heart failure. His heart was severely damaged. He also was a police officer, undercover officer for DEA, City Council member, and finally Mayor of Wyandotte, Michigan. He was still on his third term as mayor. His whole life was of service to this country. It’s been a nightmare for our two sons, our granddaughters, myself, and everybody that knew him. Agent Orange is still killing veterans and is passed down through their genes four generations! This poison never should have happened!! If you see this, I thank you for your prayers. 💔🙏

Great song. This is def better than the original. And I adore the video, they had so much fun making it. It's very nostalgic. It doesn't really mean much if you haven't watched the videos he recreated. I think he had recently gotten his diagnosis here so I'm sure it was a good distraction.

  • @tonympirrotta

I think the reason someone is always qualified to do a 'better' performance is because a performance can be easily dictated by how ones emotion is captured, felt, and conveyed with a song. One might write a song that is beautiful, and also have it comiing from an honest, compassionate, and soulful place. There may be another who listens to this same song, and by circumstance, it holds a lot more weight emotionally. That emotional weight can then translate to their performance, place in time, and show their pure embodiment of what it means to them. At this point its not even a competition, its just an appreciation, and intake of feelings for what the song means to them, and an emotional release for everyone to here. I know you didnt say this, but its easy to mix up better with a competitive and technical attitude... i believe it can be more accurate to say that sometimes a person can capture a heavier and more powerful emotion even if its not written by themselves. It doesnt take away from the original, it pays homage to it.

Would really like to hear a modern black mans reaction to Blue Mink - Melting Pot. Back in the day it was seen as a song about if we all had the same skin colour things would be a whole lot better for everyone. More recently it has become somewhat of a pariah disliked by many but i still think it's message has value. On the subject of cover versions have a listen to Roberta Flack - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and then one of the x factor contestants Matt Cardle
