I love how fast you u change between things, flash light right away, weight scale without a second's pause. Really cool.
I just bought an AD15, the more expensive version with s35VN(iobium). I love the knife. I thought the scorpion lock sucked. But after playing around with it, it feels absolutely great, and unlocking it feels easier every time.. I feel so confortable gripping on that firm lock when my 4 fingers are in the way of that razor sharp guillotine. Solid construction. Outstanding blade. And quality everywhere. Thumbs up Andrew Demko! And Metal Complex videos!

I hear ya on the price but I will always love this knife because it opened the door to bigger knives. I needed it for the scorpion lock, but was hesitant because of size. That might be a goof idea for a video, knives that you took a chance on and they really surprised you, or opened you up to a style you weren’t previously into.
I just bought an AD15 in S35VN for 138.79, delivered, on Amazon. Ordered it on March 3, 2021. It was delivered on March 7, 2021. At this moment the original AD15 in green is 136.19 and in black it's $154.99, both on Amazon.
The AD10 is $125.10 on Amazon right now.
Midwayusa has these on clearance sale today for $49.99 with free shipping. @$50 for a folder of this quality with aus 10a and demko strength design lock, this is an absolutely no brainer.
And here we are 3 months later and they're now on clearance at Midway for $55.41. I'm thinking about it but I'm not really a "Big & heavy" knife guy.
This knife came in a plastic wrap type packaging like a Walmart knife. It’s clunky and very meh. It’s a 50.00 knife.
And now a year later and they are going for 39.99 after shipping 47$ couldn't pass on it
I picked up an AD-15 in od green for $130 on amazon 2 weeks ago. Hate the color but love the knife! Go to amazon and grey that one (especially if you are more handy than me And can dye g10).

I just bought a regular cs ad15 and I love it. Did some mods cut spring sanded scales and rit dyed scales to Forrest green with black low spots love it. I cut myself numerous times mastering lmao.
Definitely agree about the price. I totally get the standard AD15 getting a price bump to around $170-190, because I think we all know they underpricing it at $155. The problem is that seem like after that initial corrective price hike they decided to make a Lite version and figured if they pushed the price up $40 more they can charge ridiculous amounts for the AD15 Lite and still have it seem like a $100 cheaper "bargain" compared to the standard model.
And it would have worked too, if we collectively suffered from long term memory loss.

It's funny like you mentioned because I also feel like alot of others companies knives I own are over priced comparatively and I've just got use to paying for others knives that are higher priced or the same.
Yeah. I got the 2nd release of the Cold Steel AD15 in S35VN for roughly $20 more than the light version. Can't justify spending that much for AUS10 and plastic. Additional: it is like they are taking a page out of Spyderco's playbook.

This knife has always peaked my curiosity with the lock, I don’t see the leaf spring breaking and those have gotten way outta hand in price is the main reason I’ve passed on these AD series. I have an old Kobun I got for 30 bucks and love it and it’s razor sharp and been through quite a bit. The Cold Steel s35 series are definitely American made or Benchmade pricing. Good honest video thank you..
It's not a clone. I've been following it on Amazon for about a year. The price has been going up and down. I also grabbed one when it dropped to $138
Check the price for the AD-10 and AD-15 on Amazon. I think the S35VN versions are going for $110-$135. Just looked the AD-10 $119.97 and the green AD-15 is $135.75
that's pretty cheap for S35VN knives. Plus you get free shipping if you have Prime membership so that saves you $10.
I got the S35VN version on Amazon for 135 bucks. This knife is worth the asking price any day, but Cold Steel quality to price ratio has spoiled us. I do however agree with what you said about the SR1 LITE, but out of context. SR1 LITE is a sick value, but this is another beast. Getting this design with the novel lock, and the normally custom profile is well worth asking price imo

The Scorpion lock is just a variation of a Pat Crawford design from 1979, still being made by A.G. Russell (One Hand Knife) and CRKT (Offbeat). Demko does do a good job improving locks like this and the TriAD lock. Both are improvements but not revolutionary, more evolutionary. Just my opinion.
Closer to 154CM... it's good to go. The lock bar is aluminum which T6 aluminum alloy is tough stuff.
I have the S35VN version of this and I had new scales made for them made because the scales texture is way to aggressive for putting into and pulling out of your pocket.
Worth mentioning, two years later, that I picked up the black g10 s35vn version for $127 on Amazon. Seems like they came to their senses.
I got the S35VN version for just under $140 in the panic after the Cold Steel sale. Do we think these are really going to go for their retail price?
Just like what they did with the Spyderco Shaman w raising prices due to demand.. but kept the same material. I feel you on this one. The 4Max scout in Aus10 is only 90 bucks.. I.. just.. I dunno. I feel you. I agree w you. Cheers!

I just ordered mine online for $93. Since I don`t work anymore, the quality of steel doesn`t matter that much, so this is going to serve me just fine. The arthritis in my hands is getting really bad, so fidgeting with different knives and breaking them in is a way to keep them as loose as possible. I look forward to working with this unique operating system. 93 bucks is probably cheaper than one physical therapy session.
Have you looked into the patches from Lifewave? You can just TH-cam the X39 patch. Thought it would help. Take Care..

Cold Steel AD-15 LITE, If the heat treat is done well the AUS-10 might not be a bad choice. The plastic scales are a tragic choice.
Price needs to be $95-$105. MSRP on sale $85. Wait 6 months to a year... the price will drop.

I $100 agree with ya. I have seen dealers start selling the AD15 lite for under $100 like Knife Outlet who has it at $94 & also New Graham knives for under $100 now & I’m positive the prices will also be lower on EBay & Amazon in the great future. One hell of a knife though.
But everyone gushes over Spyderco FRN so just stop! Spyderco and Benchmade are just over priced, so endith the lesson!

I love this design. Would be awesome a little cheaper, but I must say... I did some testing with this guy on my channel and the AUS-10A impressed me a lot. To me it's like a super, SUPER tough 154CM. Sharpens nicely, takes a good edge, holds the edge like a champ, very stainless, and it doesn't roll or chip easily.
I agree, people need to understand every blade steel we love has its pros a cons for the job we choose it for at hand.
Something always bugged me about the AD-15. It feels like the blade tang (the round end that the locking mechanism rides on) is exposed. If you were to drop the knife when it's closed, I would assume that it could affect the ability to open / close the knife easily. That seems like an oversight IMO.
It might take a ding. I’m kinda doubting it would affect the action. But, if it did, it is also exposed enough to easily take care of with a little abrasive media of your preferred type.

I like that you talked about the "A". Ignorance about that is all over the web. Also, I like that you spoke to Cold Steel fit and finish, and I very much agree. I have never had a single stand out issue in that regard on a CS folder. One or two little things maybe on their ultra budget fixed blades, but nothing to fuss about. Their QC is so great.

I'm ok with the price. AUS10 is good steel (not great, but fine for EDC), I don't mind Grivory, and considering that a new AD-15 is USUALLY over 200 everywhere (Yes, someone saw the AD-15 Lite and saw an opportunity to dump their inventory of AD-15's by underpricing them on Amazon, but that's not an accurate indicator of value, they're undercutting on purpose), 130 is a good price... FOR AN AD-15! Of course, you CAN get better steel and better scales for the same money as the CS AD15 Lite, but it won't have a scorpion lock, or the excellent Demko design. If you want a Demko design for a decent price, this isn't bad, and make no mistake, that's what you're paying for. It's either worth it to you, or it isn't.
Yeah the post GSM cold steel models are more expensive than they really should have been compared to the old cold steel, but the fact that it's still a better deal than most other brands is worse implication than cold steel gone greedy.

Amazon worries me sometimes with knife purchasing. I'm going to pull the trigger and hope it's not a fake! If it is, I'll return and try again. The lite should be $99.

I paid $140 CAD for mine, roughly $100 USD, a week ago. I'm grateful I was able to procure one for a good price, and am incredibly pleased with what I got for my money. Been wanting to try AUS10A for years. I usually carry S35VN 😂

What do you think of the aus10 compared to s35? The lite is 89 bucks and the s35 version is 135. I just don't know if it's worth spending the extra money for g10 and s35 or not

I just bought an OG AD15 for $99 on amazon. The SR1 lite, or 4max scout make sense. The AD-10 and AD-15 lite don’t to me.

I thi k you might be paying for the fact that it's a folder....a fixed blade could do these "tough" tasks too but they may not be legal/practical to carry. Just a thought but this is frustrating. Cool video.

If you're going to use the AD-15 to the limits of its design and capability then the materials upgrades will be outweighed by what you actually make the knife *do*. And they'll both do those things. Go Lite
Getting tangled up on some specs is nice on the Internet... for day to day use? Not so much.
My two go to knives were the Emmerson A100 and large Sebenza... different steel, different build quality. Using them as every day knives to cut stuff, open box and other what not... Did I notice a difference? Nope.
When I thought the blade was getting dull, simply take a few minutes to polished it up.

Yeah, the handle is thicker than the Spyderco… by about the thickness of double steel liners on the AD-15.
Yeah, the AD-15 isn’t for everyone. But until someone uncovers a major weakness, it has become one of my favorite folders.
Wanted to add: I posted above when I got to the 2:00 mark. Totally agree with you on the price. Coincidentally, I got the S35vn/G10 version (green) for right in the middle of the price range you quote as maybe reasonable for that version. You were spot on, it seems. Or they actually listened to you.
I think what we are seeing here is a result of the Cold Steel buyout by GSM. Gotta recoup the costs of buying the company, so increase the prices, and introduce a cheaper model with lesser materials that is still too expensive.
