If you go off GOW3 Kratos in particular, it's definitely fair to think that. He dragged around a woman that Poseidon enslaved for sex and had her crushed alive to open a door. He killed an insane amount of innocent people in general in that game (killing Poseidon alone caused a massive flood which took out a city I think). Hard to care about how distraught he is about his dead wife and daughter when even without being tricked, he'd probably kill them without much thought anyway if he didn't know them. On the subject of Concord, the price is absolutely premium in the PvP space. Brad pointed out that people are willing to buy a Co-Op game but in the realm of PvP, only CoD is still charging. Let's not forget that even charging a single dollar means the players need PS+, F2P games don't need to have PS+, and with the price hike, many players chose to cancel their subscriptions. To play Concord for a year (if it wasn't pulled) it would have cost 120 USD. In the PvP realm, that price is not only Premium but absurd when Overwatch and Valorant are free.

One thing to consider about Live Service is also the Server costs. Sony pays one of their chief competitors a butt load of money for use of their Azure Cloud/Server infrastructure. Thor put out a video back when Helldivers 2 had the PSN debacle, and the declining player rates. He explained that Playstation was actually probably *happy* that the player numbers were declining. They already bought the game for $40, and with fewer players that means they need fewer servers to host the games
Colin you are so right about pax being a shell of its former self. I went from 2010 to 2019 every year to pax west. Back then the big 3 were always there in full force. Now the biggest game on the show floor is 5 nights at freddy's. Its really sad because going there every year with my friends was so much fun. Now it's all over...
Funny he mentions the movie example. There are experimental movies in which the whole screen is black and you only hear the characters narrate the story. There's a famous example of a director (that passed away now) here in Portugal.

It's funny Brad mentioned (2:51:19) how bad it would be for Sony to put out TLOU Part III and it had a save issue like Star Wars, because that literally happened with the original TLOU back on release in 2013. I lost around 9 hours of progress because the autosave function wasn't working, to the extent it even blocked making a manual save. They patched it quickly, but people playing right on release had the issue. Good thing it turned out to be my favorite game and I was enjoying it so much that it really didn't bother me to play those 9 hours over again.

Last of us part 2 blew me away in every way except the story. Just too dark and hopeless and without the heart of the first one. Also just went on for too long and seemed pointless and nihilistic. Gameplay, environment wise it was great The answer for defenders is that you do t get it or missed the point. Maybe, but that was what resonated about the first game, even if you missed all the nuances, the core story was very relatable and provided a glimmer of human hope in a game full of misery, somehow made you feel hopeful in the end. This game was the opposite, I felt nothing. Just felt like deposited the amazing gameplay, this was a game wasting my time
You, as well as many others, should spend more time appreciating a game for what it is, rather than wishing it was something you wanted it to be. As tired as all this rhetoric is, the main problem is that people that do not like the story refuse to see the merit in telling a story like that. You may not agree with it, you may not like it, but that narrative deserves recognition for its excellence. Stories like that are not told in video games for the very reason people like you didn't like it. Video games as a medium is maturing, it's time the audience does as well.
I gotta be honest. This is one of those times where I genuinely don’t get where the Star Wars Outlaws critics are coming from. This game is awesome. As a Star Wars simulator it’s dope as hell. As a stealth game, I think it’s fun (although I’m admittedly not a huge stealth fan). The story is fun, not great. Kay is super cute and charming. I haven’t experienced many bugs. But being a scoundrel in Star Wars sneaking into imperial and syndicate bases is just cool.
I also feel that the hate for this game feels super forced - it being both a Ubisoft game and a piece of Disney-era Star Wars media automatically puts a target on it. Obviously there's a couple of flaws there namely checkpoint system and inconsistent enemy AI but the majority of people i've seen are having fun with it.
It's really funny hearing Colin's experience with "hard games". I've completed every game FromSoft has made and love them, but absolutely do not have the patience for something like the harder levels in the 2D Mario games for example.
51:20 As someone who seemed to enjoy the first Horizon game, Zero Dawn, more than most people at the time, I was majorly disappointed by Forbidden West. The gameplay barely improved or evolved from the first game and the story went in a direction I didn't find interesting. I think about my time with that game and I struggle to think of a single memorable or "cool" moment. Not to mention the mind bogglingly bad decision to give us access to the flying mounts literally at the end of the main quest.
Lords of Shadow!!! I had the same game breaking save glitch near the end of the game Brad. I was so pissed. It was a long game too. But eventually I sat down and just redid it all. Brilliant game, but it tainted it for me
It's good that Colin pointed out the 1 for 1 copying. Lies of P was the same, the devs didnt even have the creativity to change the text boxes for pickup up items. Exact same location, size, shape and style. Theres a difference between inspiration and theft. An inspired dev likes an idea and tries to fit it into their creation, a shameless dev doesn't go through the effort of adapting an idea to their own game.
Star Wars Outlaws has a lot of issues but it actually gets better and better as you play through it and the ending is fantastic. It’s much better than Fallen order and Survivor.
Once you get over the fomo, gaming is so much better. Play what you want, when you want. All games become cheap over time. The only experience I can see being worse is multiplayer online games which I personally couldn't give two shits about.
I think the overwhelming amount of docs in Control was meant to frustrate the player as its part of the meta/ commentary on beuarocracies. So you win by not reading it all. You feel frustrated and confused if you do, much like Jessie.
Regarding Horizon: the reason it doesn’t work for me (Aloy aside) is because the characters speak a sophisticated language, use advanced technologies, and yet walk around in headdresses and tribal costumes while living in huts. That fundamentally does not make any sense.
2:45:34 - Colin - Sony has games that have sold better than Elden Ring. Many of them! Not many, but a lot, actually. Probably 6 or 7. NO! As usual, Colin is wrong about numbers. Elden Ring crossed 25 million copies sold before its DLC was even released, and it could easily cross 30 million soon, as it has been in the top 10 NPD chart rankings this year. There isn't a single PlayStation title published by Sony that has sold more than 25 million copies, at least according to any official reports. Horizon Zero Dawn is the highest-selling PlayStation-published game, with an estimated 24.3 million copies sold as last reported. Colin has been salty about Elden Ring ever since people started making fun of Horizon Forbidden West being overshadowed by ER. Colin always throws around made-up numbers and misleads his audience just to make PlayStation look better.
Forbidden West: death of Ted Faro was done horribly and I felt you didnt really want to use mutliple weapon types vs 1st game I did. Barely used trip wires in 2.
It's really not hard to figure out what at least some of us didn't like about the last of us 2. And no it doesn't all boil down to Joel. The problem (at least for me) lies in the writing. The game itself is amazing. The gameplay is amazing and, the sound design, art direction and performances amazing. But the story falls apart 18 hours in when you realise that the game is trying so hard for you to go with the classic ' revenge is not the answer' story. Even with that, there's nothing inherently wrong with trying to tell that story, it's a classic trope for a reason after all. It just fails at it with its hamfisted approach imo. Trying oh so desperately to make Ellie seem like a bad person, while oh so desperately trying to show Abbey as a good person. The games is attempting to force you to feel certain ways with absolutely no subtlety. But even with these issues I probably could have overall enjoyed the game, if the pacing wasn't completely and abruptly halted half way through the game. The story is building to a natural climax before going back in time and having to go through the past few days from a different perspective with (imo) a poorly written (although excellent performed) character. There's a reason why most books, shows, games and movies don't pace stories this was. It's disjointed and ruins a potentially perfect natural climax. Baby sections should have been smaller and interspersed in between Ellie sections imo. While this wouldn't fix the ham fisted story approach, it at least would have made it slightly more bearable not having to play for over 13 hours just to get back to the climax i was already at and excited for. It even fails with its revenge bad story in the end, because Ellie who didn't enact her revenge looses everything. Abby who did get her revenge get a second chance and gets to pretend to be a hero with the fireflies, it's really dumb.
No, it’s not that bad people just complain too much. They wanted the perfect Star Wars game. They didn’t get the perfect Star Wars game. They got a 7.5 maybe an 8.0 and now they are complaining it’s not the best Star Wars game ever. How could you give this to us? We only deserve the best. It’s not a bad game at all. It’s good close to being great. A few patches and it’s a great game easily. If they patched well enough, it could be a 9.0. The problem is we as gamers only want the best and we complain if it’s not close to it even if it’s good
Listening to this concord talk after the the cancellation has been announced and put into effect is wild. You’d think the game had already been refunded and cancelled listening to this.
I think Colin’s wish of a year with no game releases is going to come true in 2027-2028 when a lot games that would have normally started their dev cycle in 2022-2023, now won’t because of all the industry layoffs.
56:00 I still haven’t gone back Horizon 2 after playing half the game on release. The world is amazing and I like Aloy and her story. But the start of Horizon 2 it was infuriating how all her friends from the first game was bitching and nagging her. I kind of related to her being out of breath and sighing a lot because that what I do too when I’m fucking sick and tired of people 😂
I really don't know what to play right now. And I'm not saying that from a "Playstation has no games" complaining standpoint but just someone who just can't find anything that speaks to me.
I think TLOU2 is a top 10 video game but RDR2 shits on it. TLOU2 is a book you play through, RDR2 is a wikipedia that you play through with links to different wikis(strangers/challenges) you can click on that dont feel forced and actually make you want to explore them in an organic way.

The issue with Colin/Brad combo is that Colin has a tendency to word vomit. Which sometimes results in funny rants on SSym and interesting in depth analysis on stelly. But , when he does SumS with Brad his word vomiting turns into like an attempt at “impressing” Brad , maybe even a “impart knowledge” type thing. But it results in Colin speaking 95% of the time and Brad saying “yeah, thats awesome” “wow” “cool man”. Hopefully he can rein it in a bit. I don’t mind Colin speaking SSym as much as he wants , but damn man. Let Brad speak.

If the companies let it slide then I don't see why anyone should care on their behalf
@@superbadisfunny True. Doubt it would be good for them to point it out though even if they felt that way though.
Lies of P left most of Fromsoft’s technical jank behind so that alone makes it original
The market’s collective ‘meh’ about Horizon is deserved
Star Wars Outlaws has a lot of issues but it actually gets better and better as you play through it and the ending is fantastic. It’s much better than Fallen order and Survivor.
Once you get over the fomo, gaming is so much better. Play what you want, when you want. All games become cheap over time. The only experience I can see being worse is multiplayer online games which I personally couldn't give two shits about.
I can’t ever find that Red Dead video they keep referencing. Anyone have a link for it?
I think the overwhelming amount of docs in Control was meant to frustrate the player as its part of the meta/ commentary on beuarocracies. So you win by not reading it all. You feel frustrated and confused if you do, much like Jessie.
That's some serious cope
Colin's Vampire Survivors rant just keeps going 😂😂
My save got messed up in Oblivion back in 2007 too. Haven’t touched a Bethesda game since then.
Outlaws sounds like a great game I'll pick up in a year and a half for $20 for the complete edition and gets a PS5 Pro patch.
Kratos doesnt fucking suck. What is Colin smoking?
Does anyone knows Colin's mic settings ?
Colin saying Kratos sucks is a wild take when he's arguably the best and most popular front-runner PlayStation face.
Kratos sucks. But so does Nathan drake and Alloy and sackman. So he's the best of the worst.
@@MintReactions dude....how does Nathan Drake suck? I love that man lol
This summon sign is sacred coded, in some sense.
Ok, I've got to say the thumbnail with Brad is positively disturbing 😳
Dying Light over Bloodborne and The Witcher 3 is fucking hilarious
Forbidden West: death of Ted Faro was done horribly and I felt you didnt really want to use mutliple weapon types vs 1st game I did. Barely used trip wires in 2.
Yeah it felt like the weapons limited themselves. Plus the never ending talking got in the way of what was fun about it.
Colin, order Brad to play Heavy Rain and Detroit become human. Quantic Dream games are brilliant.
Shout out to Tales of Symphonia
No, it’s not that bad people just complain too much. They wanted the perfect Star Wars game. They didn’t get the perfect Star Wars game. They got a 7.5 maybe an 8.0 and now they are complaining it’s not the best Star Wars game ever. How could you give this to us? We only deserve the best. It’s not a bad game at all. It’s good close to being great. A few patches and it’s a great game easily. If they patched well enough, it could be a 9.0. The problem is we as gamers only want the best and we complain if it’s not close to it even if it’s good
I haven't paid for early access since The Division 2. It's not worth it to me for the most part.
Listening to this concord talk after the the cancellation has been announced and put into effect is wild. You’d think the game had already been refunded and cancelled listening to this.
Colin's list is garbage.
I think Colin’s wish of a year with no game releases is going to come true in 2027-2028 when a lot games that would have normally started their dev cycle in 2022-2023, now won’t because of all the industry layoffs.
Hey Colin.. PLAY ALAN WAKE 2. it's brilliant on PS5.
56:00 I still haven’t gone back Horizon 2 after playing half the game on release. The world is amazing and I like Aloy and her story. But the start of Horizon 2 it was infuriating how all her friends from the first game was bitching and nagging her. I kind of related to her being out of breath and sighing a lot because that what I do too when I’m fucking sick and tired of people 😂
Ubislop must be stopped.
I love Aloy🥰
I really don't know what to play right now. And I'm not saying that from a "Playstation has no games" complaining standpoint but just someone who just can't find anything that speaks to me.
I dont understand how as a writer, colin thinks the story of horizon and FF16 are really good.
I think TLOU2 is a top 10 video game but RDR2 shits on it. TLOU2 is a book you play through, RDR2 is a wikipedia that you play through with links to different wikis(strangers/challenges) you can click on that dont feel forced and actually make you want to explore them in an organic way.
Not a single issue with my Outlaws on ps5
Omg that thumbnail is going to give me nightmares 😅
Kratos is great in God of War 2018. All of his actions and behaviour are relatable and believable in that game. Then Ragnarok came and ho boy. They butchered great character. pOWer oF FrRIEndShip.
"I look like I'm four months pregnant" Colin Moriarty
Bruh when Colin gonna be done yapping about castlevanes
Colin you high af boy. "deeply shallow" lmfao
comparing concord to doom 2016 is criminal, sort it out write in cause you huffin copium
I think its more Brad just not pushing back or actually having a discussion
Love his defensiveness when it comes to Horizon. It gets way to much hate imo
That concord take has to be bait,
Naughty Dog gets a pass for the failure of Factions.
It would be really funny if only Brad's swearing was bleeped.
I enjoy Colin saying Last of Us 3 can just not bother shipping physical till launch day cause it's the minority even though the Insomniac leak shows Sony first party games usually do like 70% physical and Colin himself even acknowledged that fact recently with God of War Ragnarok looooooool. Living the pipe dream there, no way Sony will hold back what most people are gonna buy.
you got that backwards ~70% of first party games sold are digital, check out their financial reports.
I almost shot my horse in RDR2 cleaning my gun.
