It's ridiculous. And I'm not smashing them against the desk or anything. I'm looking into getting the DualSense Edge because, even at $200, that will probably be cheaper in the long run to replace sticks at $20 than throwing down $70 every 6 months (or less) for a new controller.

I wanna reiterate that if anyone gives Brad crap for being less on his game at Easy Allies, his quality of life has improved considerably. So of course without dealing with the stress of driving and other factors, he would be more prepared to be at his best at work everyday.
And the reason why is because they want to sell you new controllers. Planned obsolescence. The technology already exists (Hall effect sensors) to eliminate stick drift yet the console makers aren't using it because then they would sell less controllers. This is also why I wouldn't buy a PlayStation Portal since I imagine those will have the same stick-drift problem.

Reducing film and games to a scale just minimizes any possible chance of approaching something that can possibly impact you, it just has a harder way communicating it.

I have 3 ps5 controllers my 2 black older ones have been through hell with my kids, still no issues. I bought a new pink one used 2 times and stick drift so it can happen based on manufacturing process!

It’s funny to hear Colin love of 2D games on the PS1. Originally Sony did not allow 2D games on that console and only wanted 3D games which they thought would showcase it’s power more. It wasn’t until Megaman 8 that Sony relented and started to allow 2D games.
I wouldn’t be surprised if House of the Dragon goes 4 seasons. Not to stretch it out, but to truly grasp the finality and results of this conflict which the leading events to the subsequent results span over a few decades.

The PSN wishlist feature is actually pretty nice. Had the final fantasy pixel remaster bundle on there for the last 6 months or so. Wanted to play them but 75$ just seemed too steep. Went on sale a few days ago for 50$ , got a notification that it was on sale and now I own it. As a non pc gamer this has been pretty useful for me.
Still Wakes the Deep was a solid B+ for me. From Colin's description it feels like he played a walking simulator, seems a lot like he went in with set expectations.

I think it's HIGH time we stop giving Sony/PlayStation passes to F up and blame other things. The reality is, especially now after Bungie issues, Sony/PlayStation can mess up just like any other company. Xbox/MS F up's plenty and PlayStation can and does as well. It is possible that Jim Ryan and maybe even Herman don't always have the greatest judgment calls.
I love Arkham City so much, and you can actually play it at 60fps on PS5 if you play the disc version unpacked. And Arkham Knight still looks amazing to this day, but it desperately needs a 60 FPS patch
Super mario sunshine is the perfect example of people judging a game for what it could have been over what it was. Yes, the hyped was insane after mario 64 and making it about a vacation resort and cleaning it up with the fludd wasnt what we all wanted... BUT its still an amazing platformer. Same with Zelda windwaker, I get that people were amazed by the first trailers for the gamecube and then we ended up with a cartoonish kiddo link?! But once again, judge a game for what it is, not what we wanted.
I thought up Granturismo and FF7 right away, didn't think about sequels to either. I was practically certain that Tomb Raider was going to be #5! Nuts that those pyramids weren't on the list.
It's funny you mention Foamstars still having a playerbase because I got back into it recently for the summer event where they've added swimsuits for sale for a lot of the characters (Got Soa's for like 5 bucks, lol). Whether it survives or not, idk, but at least they're doing what they should be support-wise and with a cast of appealing characters. Concord's got none of that going on
Before the last redesign the PS3 store wasn't too bad. As it is now though it's terrible. And to make it worse you can not access it through a browser like you used to be able to. Also, the synching trophies functionality originally wasn't too slow but they did something, I think after the PSN outage, to where it took so much longer. Perhaps there was some sort of security-related shenanigans that happened so they had to implement much stricter verification of trophies on the console which made it take longer.
I also have become more of a fan of shorter, yet more robust and replayable games in recent years. Games like Resident Evil 4, returnal, Kena Bridge of spirits. In particular Alan Wake 2, which is a bit longer, but I've been dying to play the director's cut since I beat it a few months ago. Colin you need to pick up Alan week 2 again, I didn't have a single issue with it in performance mode. It looks and runs beautifully.

Games like The Last of Us, God of War, Spiderman, and even games like Days Gone appeal way more to western audiences than games like Final Fantasy or Stellar Blade, and this is evident in the sales numbers. When you look at the PS4 lineup, there were sometimes even 2-3 big PS exclusives per year that appealed to more western audiences (2018 immediately comes to mind with God of War, Spiderman, and Detroit: Become Human). So yeah, PS has had a great first half of the year exclusive-wise, but they aren't catering to a fanbase that they themselves fostered. I can personally speak to this because I have very western-centric sensibilities when it comes to gameplay and story. It's not that I'm a casual and unwilling to try new things; I've played over 400 games and nearly every genre. These games just don't speak to me. I'm not personally complaining about PS's output because I have plenty of other things to play, but it is clear that PS is catering to this audience less and less. People aren't in the wrong for pointing that out.
Gamecube didnt came with a DVD player, and ps1 was the most sold console AND ps2 was backward compatible with it (tons of cheap ps1 great titles you could pick up on sales). It was a no brainer for most people. But for people who picked up multiple consoles, like me, ofc we got a gamecube and loved it. But compared to the ps2 library? it was inferior for sure.
Their were good superhero games before Arkahm Asylum like ultimate spider man, ultimate alliance, X-Men legends, Batman begins, which is underrated spider man friend or foe, ghost rider, the punisher, hulk ultimate Destruction, marvel nemesis even tho that game was very rushed still enjoyable. Spider man web of shadows and the fantastic four game I always thought was underrated
About the PC game pass refund I also got that refund not once but twice, first for a dollar then 10. Haven't had a reason to get game pass for a 3rd month yet but I'm curious to see if it happens again. I don't understand how they could possibly think that's a good thing for their business but I'm not going to say no.
On the PS3 vs PS4, The PS3 had absolutely garbage PS Store on the console, but the Web store was a dream, so most of the time I just bought PSN games on my computer. With PS4? It's the opposite. The on-console store is great, but the Web store is garbage now. Of course, since I prefer buying games on the web instead, I buy a lot less PS4 games than I did PS3, PSP, and Vita games.

PS5 is my last PlayStation, like Colin loves to point out it will reach 100 million sales. But i'm not so confident the PS6 will do those numbers if they keep releasing games on PC and take 4-5 years for new titles not to mention they will be cross-gen on PS5 for years to come.

Jim Ryan probably initiated the whole live service direction and it sounds like Bungie was actively looking to be bought and Herman likely scouted out Bungie or at least confirmed that bungie would be a good get since It was reported that Herman was the one who visited FireWalk studio whos making Concord and seemly liked it so much they ended up buying the studio (and Herman has been in a higher up position at PlayStation for a number of years now and related to head of gaming content)

Sony is doing well but with exclusives, Nintendo has been releasing exclusive games monthly and even console exclusives. Not sure the exact numbers but Nintendo may be neck and neck with Sony on the exclusives front.
Mario 64 and Dark Souls ruined gaming for me at 2 different eras, for their popularity guided the gaming in two awful genres. 3d platformer and Souls borne takeovers, where every other game is a fking clone.
Concord would have more positive momentum if the female characters were dressed skimpy and had big titties. Gamers are super shallow, because the characters come off as "woke" they will stop at nothing to make sure this game fails. Why isn't anyone calling this out. It was never gonna get a fair shake from the moment it was fully revealed.

I love you guys but you missed the point. Xbox has a lfg system where you can make a party on any game and people can join your post just for conversation. PlayStation needs more social apps where you can meet people without playing multiplayer games.
PlayStation used to have communities on ps4 that you could make but they removed it and the ps5 doesn't have it.

It’s funny to hear Colin love of 2D games on the PS1. Originally Sony did not allow 2D games on that console and only wanted 3D games which they thought would showcase it’s power more. It wasn’t until Megaman 8 that Sony relented and started to allow 2D games.

The PSN wishlist feature is actually pretty nice. Had the final fantasy pixel remaster bundle on there for the last 6 months or so. Wanted to play them but 75$ just seemed too steep. Went on sale a few days ago for 50$ , got a notification that it was on sale and now I own it. As a non pc gamer this has been pretty useful for me.

I think it's HIGH time we stop giving Sony/PlayStation passes to F up and blame other things. The reality is, especially now after Bungie issues, Sony/PlayStation can mess up just like any other company. Xbox/MS F up's plenty and PlayStation can and does as well. It is possible that Jim Ryan and maybe even Herman don't always have the greatest judgment calls.
I love Arkham City so much, and you can actually play it at 60fps on PS5 if you play the disc version unpacked. And Arkham Knight still looks amazing to this day, but it desperately needs a 60 FPS patch
Super mario sunshine is the perfect example of people judging a game for what it could have been over what it was. Yes, the hyped was insane after mario 64 and making it about a vacation resort and cleaning it up with the fludd wasnt what we all wanted... BUT its still an amazing platformer. Same with Zelda windwaker, I get that people were amazed by the first trailers for the gamecube and then we ended up with a cartoonish kiddo link?! But once again, judge a game for what it is, not what we wanted.
I thought up Granturismo and FF7 right away, didn't think about sequels to either.
I was practically certain that Tomb Raider was going to be #5! Nuts that those pyramids weren't on the list.
It's funny you mention Foamstars still having a playerbase because I got back into it recently for the summer event where they've added swimsuits for sale for a lot of the characters (Got Soa's for like 5 bucks, lol). Whether it survives or not, idk, but at least they're doing what they should be support-wise and with a cast of appealing characters. Concord's got none of that going on

Before the last redesign the PS3 store wasn't too bad. As it is now though it's terrible. And to make it worse you can not access it through a browser like you used to be able to. Also, the synching trophies functionality originally wasn't too slow but they did something, I think after the PSN outage, to where it took so much longer. Perhaps there was some sort of security-related shenanigans that happened so they had to implement much stricter verification of trophies on the console which made it take longer.
I also have become more of a fan of shorter, yet more robust and replayable games in recent years. Games like Resident Evil 4, returnal, Kena Bridge of spirits. In particular Alan Wake 2, which is a bit longer, but I've been dying to play the director's cut since I beat it a few months ago. Colin you need to pick up Alan week 2 again, I didn't have a single issue with it in performance mode. It looks and runs beautifully.

I think this is the point that Colin is still missing. It's not a casual gamer thing, it's a western gamer thing. Games like The Last of Us, God of War, Spiderman, and even games like Days Gone appeal way more to western audiences than games like Final Fantasy or Stellar Blade, and this is evident in the sales numbers. When you look at the PS4 lineup, there were sometimes even 2-3 big PS exclusives per year that appealed to more western audiences (2018 immediately comes to mind with God of War, Spiderman, and Detroit: Become Human). So yeah, PS has had a great first half of the year exclusive-wise, but they aren't catering to a fanbase that they themselves fostered.
I can personally speak to this because I have very western-centric sensibilities when it comes to gameplay and story. It's not that I'm a casual and unwilling to try new things; I've played over 400 games and nearly every genre. These games just don't speak to me. I'm not personally complaining about PS's output because I have plenty of other things to play, but it is clear that PS is catering to this audience less and less. People aren't in the wrong for pointing that out.

Gamecube didnt came with a DVD player, and ps1 was the most sold console AND ps2 was backward compatible with it (tons of cheap ps1 great titles you could pick up on sales). It was a no brainer for most people. But for people who picked up multiple consoles, like me, ofc we got a gamecube and loved it. But compared to the ps2 library? it was inferior for sure.

Their were good superhero games before Arkahm Asylum like ultimate spider man, ultimate alliance, X-Men legends, Batman begins, which is underrated spider man friend or foe, ghost rider, the punisher, hulk ultimate Destruction, marvel nemesis even tho that game was very rushed still enjoyable. About the PC game pass refund I also got that refund not once but twice, first for a dollar then 10. Haven't had a reason to get game pass for a 3rd month yet but I'm curious to see if it happens again. I don't understand how they could possibly think that's a good thing for their business but I'm not going to say no.
On the PS3 vs PS4, The PS3 had absolutely garbage PS Store on the console, but the Web store was a dream, so most of the time I just bought PSN games on my computer.
With PS4? It's the opposite. The on-console store is great, but the Web store is garbage now. Of course, since I prefer buying games on the web instead, I buy a lot less PS4 games than I did PS3, PSP, and Vita games.

By this point in 2023, we already knew about: Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, Concord, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, & Helldivers 2 coming in 2024. By comparison, we do not know anything about games coming in 2025.
🔵2️⃣) PlayStation has to announce the PS5 Pro and they cannot do that too early in the year from its release because it would cannibalize the sales of the PS5. So, the best thing to do is to announce it later in the year right before it goes on the market to be sold in Q3/Holiday.
🔵3️⃣) PlayStation has a lot of 1st Party Games in development that have yet to be revealed. These games have been in development for multiple years and they are being developed by some of PlayStation's most renowned and interesting studios (Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, BluePoint, Insomniac, Bend & More). SIE would want to show off their upcoming games in the best possible light with the best Fidelity and Performance. Therefore, it makes sense that they would save these reveals for the PS5 Pro. [Note: I'm not saying all these studios will be ready but some will be]
🔵4️⃣) PlayStation's 30th Anniversary is this year. The PS1 released in 1994, they will want to do something to commemorate it.

Kinda both of them it seems. Jim Ryan probably initiated the whole live service direction and it sounds like Bungie was actively looking to be bought and Herman likely scouted out Bungie or at least confirmed that bungie would be a good get since It was reported that Herman was the one who visited FireWalk studio whos making Concord and seemly liked it so much they ended up buying the studio (and Herman has been in a higher up position at PlayStation for a number of years now and related to head of gaming content)

It would be great if Sony revived the Socom US Navy Seals. Suitable studios would be Naughty Dog and Santa Monica Studios, a single-player-focused Socom reboot with a human story of the emotional realities suffered by soldiers away from their families on the battlefield. of a Navy Seal who is a father and husband fighting an Islamic jihadist terrorist network in Africa and the Middle East, a third-person action and stealth video game inspired by The Last of Us and Siphon Filter.
Chris, only the last two episodes of the last season of GOT suck. Don't let that keep you from one of the best stories ever told. House of Dragons is incredible as well. Very hype for the Dune TV show!

Super Mario 64 was, and still is the best 3D Mario even if its a boring answer. Odyssey was really good, but not great.
The trailers suck. The characters are unlikable. I'm going to play the shit out of Concord anyway while it still has players.
Mario 64 and Dark Souls ruined gaming for me at 2 different eras, for their popularity guided the gaming in two awful genres. 3d platformer and Souls borne takeovers, where every other game is a fking clone.
Concord would have more positive momentum if the female characters were dressed skimpy and had big titties. Gamers are super shallow, because the characters come off as "woke" they will stop at nothing to make sure this game fails. Why isn't anyone calling this out. It was never gonna get a fair shake from the moment it was fully revealed.
