With the move of a lot of devs from PC first to console in the early 2000's, we saw studios like Bioware & Bethesda move to more simple systems. The chat wheel with all options having the same outcome is one of the most iconic examples, the most striking ones when the text in the wheel has no relation to what or how you character will react or funnel you in to a single outcome. I always link the two as Obsidian showed what we had lost with KOTOR2 & Fallout NV, they made the games I wanted that Bioware/Bethesda had lost the ability to make. Now I think ME1 had boring random planet problem like Starfield, in ME2 they removed the driving and added a mining mini game that did not relay solve the problem. The ME2 mining game just left me missing the driving around, Starfield did not have driving but still had the boring planet problem. I missed the driving in MA2 & Starfield added it in Shattered Space but did not solve the problem of content, you also see the problem in 4X space games where each planet is not relay interesting.
I did a new play through of Rogue Trader with the latest DLC, outstanding game and the DLC is exceptional. Highly recommend to anyone who likes RPGs. For Dragon Age Veilguard, I'm 20 hours in so far and its decent and I'm enjoying it but the criticisms Matty has I mostly agree with. You can refund individual talent points, dunno if it was changed or he just misremembered. The writing is the biggest miss so far. Most of it is serviceable, however occasionally something cringe or just plain bad pops up and takes you out of the experience.
Outside of iron Bull I didn't really like any of the new characters in inquisition. Really on the fence as to whether or not I wanna give veilguard a try this weekend...
Due to the deceptive practices of bioware to promote their games, i will never be buying any of there games on day 1. Especially after seeing all the inflated scores by many reviewers that were likely given for access, swag, and attention.

Even if u lost all of your access media privileges, ppl will still watch your content. I actually prefer content creators who don't accept or receive access or free codes.
I think it’s easy to see why this game has terrible writing and direction. Just look at the director and the writing team. Pretty sure at this point if you can’t see a correlation you have your head in the sand.
I was a BioWare Fan from Baldur' s Gate to ME 3. Dragon Age Inquisition won' GOTY but it' was mid at best imo. Not one good new character, yes Solas sucks. The new one...naw, pass.
The best Pokémon games are all the 2D era ones. Once they went 3d they got complacent and half assed a lot of things. Gen 5 is the best story and most content compared to any other gen. I fell out of love of the game once they got to switch. 3ds ones were all right but I still go back to white 2 all the time it’s just so damn good. Wish they stuck to the 2d style and continued improving them and making them bigger. Could’ve had a lot better looking 2d style graphics then we got now with Pokémon.
Dragon age 2 is the worst when it comes to doin the same quest in same boring locations ... also found it annoying in orgins, too, when traveling between towns
I was in 4th grade when Pokemon first hit in the U.S so I am very much of the Pokemon generation (and never really fell off because I'm a degenerate lol) and I will say playing Gen 2 as it came out the second half of the game absolutely blew my fucking mind. Definitely one of the most hype video game moments for me.
Brad on your pokeman tangent There are a couple games worth playing: Red/Blue, Gold/Silver/Crystal, Black/White… maybe ruby/sapphire The rest just aren’t that good. The stories got kiddified to hell. They rounded any and all potential edges to the stories and decided it was going to be a series for 1-10 yr old kids. Fair enough it sells I guess
The only podcast where the three hosts dance around the issues of Veilguard and have surprised pikachu faces when the writing is bad. Garbage people make garbage games.
I am not getting that with this game. It’s not the OG from 10 years or more ago, but I’m not playing Valeguard right now and thinking bad story bad gameplay. I’m OK with it. Yes I wish it was OG but I like what I’m getting here. I didn’t mind what I got with inquisition. I thought that was game of the year level material. It wasn’t perfect, but most games aren’t perfect. You can always find something wrong with them. I honestly think this is about an 8.5 so far and I’m only 16 hours in. Probably more like 13 because I did stop while the game was just sitting there.
pc metacritic 79% that isnt a bad score -but for an AAA trying to save Bioware? that is shit news for EA and Bioware. lets be real. Also, when you have 70k player at launch, and then monster hunter comes in with 460k players to test the BETA you realize, these rpgs from japan are even much bigger. Heck, Metaphor even sold 1 million copy at launch, and both granblue and unicorn overlord sold 1 million each as well within a month- and nobody can tell me granblue or unicorn overlord should rival Dragon Age. In fact here in Sweden, Elgiganten our biggest electronic store, charged 800 kr for the game (thats 80 usd) until launch week, then put the price down to 600 kr (60 usd) and even webhallen our biggest gaming store for online shopping just ordered in a few copies. Now, I get that Sweden isnt a "Tell all" for Dragon Age sales, but the biggest games like last years Hogwarts legacy and Tears of the kingdom was also the most expensive and most selling. In other words, unless DA:V is selling like 90% digitally now, even in Sweden, then something isnt going right with the pre-orders.
I believe ya as a DA fan Matty, I know casuals will see this as a 7 or 8 and that's cool but it's not for fans. I'm slightly disappointed that the leak overshadowed your valid opinion on the game, at least in the hardcore fan community but I reckon that wasn't your fault.

@@THENAMEISQUICKMAN Very true, but it doesn't mean they were not politically influenced either cause of all the culture war shit.
@@petercao1671normal people don’t pay attention to that bs.
I think it’s easy to see why this game has terrible writing and direction. Just look at the director and the writing team. Pretty sure at this point if you can’t see a correlation you have your head in the sand.
I'M MattMan
I was a BioWare Fan from Baldur' s Gate to ME 3. Dragon Age Inquisition won' GOTY but it' was mid at best imo. Not one good new character, yes Solas sucks. The new one...naw, pass.
I’m in the vast minority but I’m loving Veilguard so far. It’s a gorgeous, gorgeous game
Hey its Jimmy Grapes
Someone needs to get Brad a hair tie. He keeps pushing it away from his face.
I like Jimmy. Never seen him before
The Twitter mob tried to claim another one of the family. Big ups to you Matty!
Brad turned into the wizard from XP to level 3. 😂
Imagine thinking The Crow is an "unsung gem" or underrated in any way. That movie is extremely popular!
Brad on your pokeman tangent
There are a couple games worth playing: Red/Blue, Gold/Silver/Crystal, Black/White… maybe ruby/sapphire
The rest just aren’t that good. The stories got kiddified to hell. They rounded any and all potential edges to the stories and decided it was going to be a series for 1-10 yr old kids. Fair enough it sells I guess
Has Matty seen the Lord of the Rings movies?
Wasn't particularly blown away by the alan wake dlc's, eh
The only podcast where the three hosts dance around the issues of Veilguard and have surprised pikachu faces when the writing is bad. Garbage people make garbage games.
You guys forgot to answer the write ins favorite Halloween costume question lol
Noone:
Matty: I'm Batman
I am not getting that with this game. It’s not the OG from 10 years or more ago, but I’m not playing Valeguard right now and thinking bad story bad gameplay. I’m OK with it. Yes I wish it was OG but I like what I’m getting here. I didn’t mind what I got with inquisition. I thought that was game of the year level material. It wasn’t perfect, but most games aren’t perfect. You can always find something wrong with them. I honestly think this is about an 8.5 so far and I’m only 16 hours in. Probably more like 13 because I did stop while the game was just sitting there.
Need Brad to play Pokemon Colosseum
The new alien movie was pretty garbage. The monster at the end was the only cool thing.
Playing it right now and loving it so much the combat as rogue is so engaging and am loving the characters so far
Justice for Matt!
We don't go to Ravenholm
Iron Man VR was good, should check it out
No one wants to talk about the rainbow elephant in the room lmao also matty doesn’t understand he’s doing unpaid work for EA in exchange for access
The game is just so mid gameplay wise and trash writing wise
look at these 3 bouncing goofballs
Nice costumes
Halloween costumes that aren’t “scary” or horror themed are complete buns. Nobody wants to see a wizard without some blood or gore, c’mon man!!
pc metacritic 79% that isnt a bad score -but for an AAA trying to save Bioware? that is shit news for EA and Bioware. lets be real.
If I notice how DEI coded the writing is, will I have to pull a barve and do a quick 10 to put it right? (I'm only going to do 5 btw)
I believe ya as a DA fan Matty, I know casuals will see this as a 7 or 8 and that's cool but it's not for fans. I'm slightly disappointed that the leak overshadowed your valid opinion on the game, at least in the hardcore fan community but I reckon that wasn't your fault.
Ahh yes.... DRAG Age FAIL-hard is out and I decided I identify myself as DEI nonBUYnary 😏.....so, no thanks 😎
I don't know how anyone could think this game was gonna be good. Inquisition was bad and this looked worse in everyway
Matty seems to be an outlier. It's sitting at an 84 on metacritic so most reviews were very favorable
@BLonsdale912 I have zero faith in metacritic, DA2 is at a 85 and that game is flat out bad.
@@Fahrenheit38DA2 is the best one.
@ladymayaN7 you are insane
@@BLonsdale912Codes were only given to reviewers who were expected to be positive, and it only hit the low 80s. You’re either a pathetic shill or really dumb.
Rip eza & siftd
Dragon age veilguard is NOT an rpg and it’s pure woke garbage. I don’t use that term loosely so when I say it that holds some weight. This dragon age game is objectively the worst game to ever come out
Shout out to sonic except superstars that sucked
13:44 dont worry Brad f em
Insane how many 10s and 100s Dragon Age got from reviewers. What a dishonest practice. After this I feel like I’m never looking at the major journo websites reviews again.
Matty and Brad is insane! ❤
