I'll tell you one thing the Brits do far better than the US...Camera work.
The US camera operators have the terrible tendency in events like this to NOT show the entire field with the main shot. It's even worse watching football (soccer). European camera men, and producers better understand that to appreciate what's happening on the field, viewers need to see the options the players have, who is moving well off the ball, etc. Having a few cameras focused onto a small area for detail emphasis is fine, but closeups should be used sparingly, not as the majority of what viewers see.

Shakari is only 1.55m too, and Fraser-Pryce only 1.52m. Yes, these are women, but most women competitors are all taller than 1.65m. And yet, these two are fastest in the world right now. Not that being tall doesn't help, it's both about step speed and step size (stride). Shakari and Laird have step speed but not step size. Fraser-Pryce kind of has both, but she's also the shortest of all. Fanbulleh has stride and speed but only after he's fully upright. If he fixes that, he will be the best of all worlds, in terms of technique/size/ etc. I know I mix a lot here, but my point is: no athlete is perfect, so if one athlete is perfect in one of these things, they have chance to take over others, and if they get best in all sides of technique, then they could get world records.

No matter how many times he gets washed by more talented athletes, his hype team will spin something. The person that beat him is older. Then he gets thrashed by someone his age or younger, it’s the coach’s fault. He gets thrashed again, he beat him (them) in the past. He gets his ass handed to him again. He is tired. He is young. He will rise again. He will walk on water. Then the final heavily wind aided comment. Y’all are racist for saying he is overhyped.😂

@Farai Togie You'd have to go back decades and decades to find any "white hope," in US sprinting. African Americans, who are almost all part European in their ancestry, have dominated not just in the USA but in the world with a few exceptions. Laird definitely looks like he's got a bit of that ol' European "grandpa" in him.
Boling is doing better than Laird did at his age. His times are faster and he's had more success. He won the 200 meter indoor NCAA Finals by a whisker over Laird and was a finalist in three events at the outdoor finals: The 4X100 where his team finished second, the 100m and the 200m. He finished ahead of Fahnbulleh, of Liberian ancestry, in the 100m.
He's by far the best of his complexion (We call it "white" but it's really kinda pink) at the sprints and he's a good long jumper too. He has high jumped 6'8" and has a 400 meter race that they say was in the 44 second range. I'd like to see him compete in the Test of Champions, the Decathlon. It is a curiosity to see a person of his complexion achieve so much. He got a historic 4 Gold Medals at the Pan American Games Junior Division. That is why he gets so much attention. I am so-called "white" and I don't care what an athlete looks like. I just like to see them do well.

these championships have illustrated how much wind really does affect the event. ..and how much hype gets carried away with when someone runs a windy time.. you cant ignore the advantage it gives.
    you give laird a zero wind and he's a 10.03 runner..give him 2m/s and he's a high 9.8x runner..3m/s and its close to 9.80. a slight headwind and he's running 10.05.
all the athletes are the same. its time to recognise wind effect in the 100m and 200m events and offer up converted times. a perfect legal tailwind is a huge advantage in the record books.

wind AND technology. A lot of the best times by U.S. runners are ran on MONDO tracks which provide a better energy return. ***Florida, Cali, Texas*** Also, I keep in touch with a former pro, I'm learning that clock and wind manipulation is very much a thing. With sprints, the only people that truly know the true time are the "automatic" clock operators. Also, some track may be 2 meters short or even 2 meters longer etc. People have no clue just how much manipulation takes place.
