I found a bug among the assortment of my mods I have never expected and cant figure out how to fix it. When the "Man in Black" event happens, it never stops triggering. Imagine this: Everyone is down, hope is lost, then a steady steam Men dressed in black show up one by one from over the horizon from a horde numbering in the hundreds. (My PC cannot handle watching this for very long) (Unrelated to the Stream or Related Modlist)
The timing is impeccable because I just discovered Adam's channel yesterday and the video I was watching even mentioned his no-pause. I'm really getting back into rimworld videos lately and playing as well. Can't wait to see how this goes.
With Megasloths it's best to prevent it from going into the living spaces, basically everything that's gonna be cleaned, because Megasloth have 24x filth rate, so they'll constantly drag garbage around your bedrooms. What I always do is to make an area of all the places the animal shouldn't go, invert it and name it "Exclusion Zone", so it can go everywhere, but not into the rec rooms, bedrooms, hospital etc
Pretty much what I do. But also it's great to make essentially storage sheds they can go to, set up a stockpile at low priority and then your haulers will go grab everything on the map over time saving colonists walking over the whole map for chunks and stuff. Bonus points if you can refrigerate it and then they can collect crops for you so they won't spoil, as well as corpses...if you're that kind of colony...
@@mrcheesemunch Concrete storage rooms with two entrances are usually fine for my purposes. One entrance from the workshop, the other one from the outside for hauling pets.
I do like your longer form videos. Your voice, storytelling and embracing of disaster make great background company when painting toy soldiers. If I may make a request, a longer form kenshi video where you're not dealing with a million negative traits or mods would be nice. Stay safe.
Playing without mods is rare these days. People are so used to mods everywhere, that they almost cant live without them. Ive searched the internet for the past 3 years for someone who plays without mods, and its harder to find, then you would think! - Also, dont let people critique you on live stream dude. Whoever that was, just ignore them next time. Btw. Looking forward to next episode. Also.. Cool design.. I like the pathways! :)
Yeah, steel traps interspaced would be good. I wish Rimworld vanilla had a bit more variety for traps. Punji sticks, etc. Maybe a fire trap? Stone doors and walls, with a wood floor.
@@ClockworkOuroborousdwarf fortress did it nice, using weapons to create some special weapon traps that would function using the damage type of that weapon
If you like AdamVsEverything, You’ll probably also like MortalSmurph. Mortal Smurph is a giant of the community despite his name. He has a wonderful voice and explains everything he does. He has a legendary-level knowledge of the game and is even listed in the credits as a tester. Ok, back to the VoD.
I gotta say it's why melee colonists are essential. If something unexpected happens and your ranged is getting overrun, you gotta have some slowdown. It sucks. They will get mangled and eat up your medicine supply, but they serve an important purpose. On no pause against Yttakin? Yeah that's rough any way you slice it. Respect for the attempt. The furries take less damage, run faster, and do more melee damage. Not to mention they usually chug go juice before a raid. Even if you had a melee, someone was probably going down. My go to defense for an entire playthrough revolves around holding enemies at a chokepoint and allowing ranged to free fire for as long as possible. Different forms of security are basically just QoL upgrades to this strategy throughout the game. The fundamental strategy remains the same. My current main tank has had to contend with 2 mangled eyes and a brain scar that was sculpted out. That's with very solid armor, but it was always something with good armor pen. The most effective policy IMO is kite as long as you can until you'd be giving up advantageous ground to do it. Make your stand. Have cover for ranged where you expect that will be. Equip your melee pawns as best as you reasonably can with priority. After all their cover is whatever they are wearing. Good call on the sloth. I love Rimworld combat animals. They have saved my life by virtue of being a distraction alone. Only downside is you're gonna watch them die a horrific death eventually, and all the game allows in terms of treatment is medicine and narcotics. You cant even provide a burial as far as I know. So send em off like heroes. Give em a tootski of blow, a baseball butt slap, and wish them godspeed. Good run! Always entertaining. Quintessential Rim experience. 🤠
Oh yeah, also Rimworld is kind of cheeky in how they limit weapon ranges. It''s not immediately obvious, but some weapons are way less effective unless they are used in the "sweet spot" of distance. So sometimes that colonist that is hitting anything but the target is doing so because they are in stormtrooper range for their weapon.
Researchers need to relearn refrigeration, after which they should retire to the rec room before resting in their residence. Resturanting on their rations in the morning before checking on the retrained captives held in the reformatory. Occasionally working on the fabrication of frames from the reserves.
I was inspired by this Recondite Reptile to start a new rimworld save recently. But in mine I set the item drops to 500% instead of difficulty. However, that was a challenge in itself. I try to mine out a room to live in and there are more rocks there than I started with. Or I try to clear out the trees to plant some crops, but there is so much wood it wasn't cleared out until it was time to harvest. I made a bunch of money selling healroot though.
In the previous playthrough you've rolled significantly better pawns - team stats: 12 🔥🔥 vs 04 🔥🔥 Shooting 11 🔥🔥 vs 05 🔥🔥 Melee 12 🔥🔥 vs 05 🔥🔥 Construction 06 🔥 vs 03 Mining 05 vs 02 Cooking 05 🔥🔥 vs 13 🔥🔥 Plants 07 🔥 vs 05 🔥🔥 Medical 13 🔥🔥 vs 2 Intellectual 06 vs 02 Crafting Two days later than this playthrough ended, you've already finished researching microelectronics. Furthermore, with significantly larger fertile ground patch, you've had at least one harvest of smokeleaf, cotton, corn and psychoid.
Sounds ridiculous, but I knew as soon as you started smoothing your floors that it was over. On 500% that little room of smoothed flooring added about 1-2 more raiders, which was exactly the amount of raiders too much for the amount of defenses you had. + You made concrete flooring to help speeding up the distance crossing, but you made the distances so big in the first place by creating such a big base. Start tiny and then add add bit by bit. But alas, I watch your channel exactly because you don't follow the standard rules and are really entertaining, so don't listen to my advice haha
The discussion of face reveal led me to Google...and I was NOT disappointed. With all due respect, YOWW you are the total package! Brains, humor, and a love of video games.
Ah, the yttakin get like a third more health than regular pawns. If the RimWorld rolls low damage on the spike, and ends up hitting a non vital part those focks will walk it off for the most part.
You'd think I wouldn't be surprised by a game where you can harvest organs and feed prisoners their own friends' flesh as punishment for trying to flee...but I didn't think being kidnapped by furries would be in that bingo card.
i wish there were greater variety of early game, low tech defenses outside of spike traps and sandbags. some kind of crossbow trap or falling stone chunk trap would be neat
@@mistake7341 pitfalls maybe? Imo you need to invest in 1 melee pawn early game. Forget about spike traps. They are too expensive and time consuming. . Make an actual killbox and use the melee if they make it to the end. Do this until you reach a comforfable position in defenses. And when you play on harder difficulty its pretty important to recruit whoever you can unless they are incapable of violence. Need all hqnds on deck
rimworld does NOT have "universal appeal"... there are WAAAAAY too many idiots who obsess over graphics and hate the idea of "strategy" or "turn based" games...
Not too knowledgable of Rimworld combat, but it looked like you simply didn't have the gunnery stats to handle the mass amount of attackers. They were fast and tanky enough to take more than a couple hits from each of your pawns, so all it took was two to close the gap, plus their melee kit able to down a pawn in two swings marking the end the moment that gap was closed. It was a fight already slated against you and on top of it they were just simply made to counter your type of defense. The only thing you might have been able to do was to just plan specifically for raiders more numerous with more unga power than you had in the past, putting someone in front to just body block with the best armor you could manage and funnel the raiders into one spot on the other side. Beyond that, just hoping luck favored you over them when it came to accuracy.
only took 20 mins to finally start chopping trees for your wood constructions. almost 30 mins in and there's still stuff deteriorating outside, when you have a covered storage. skip to min 50 to start seeing actual work going on. before that is all planning
oh, and why tf would you tear down both entrances at the same time? building out of wood isnt the problem. its doing too many other things at one time.
