Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-seventies" Now you see why!!
Trust me Zay you will love "Fairies Wear Boots" by Black Sabbath. It will take you on a musical ride so hang on! 🚀 There are many greats, but Black Sabbath is one of the greatest bands of all time and will continue to hold that status forever.
My suggestion for the next Black Sabbath reaction: N.I.B. Killer bass intro and great musicianship throughout! And a pretty nice twist of a message in the lyrics. Glad to see you're well on your way to becoming a hard rock/metal enthusiast. Just remember, burnout is a thing. These dudes put out this music over decades, don't feel pressured into discovering everything in a few months. Hope you are well, Zay, and I hope to see Zel back on the channel someday! He's missing out on some great tunes!
Yes!! I was going to comment that too. Drums steal the show, at least in the War Pigs song 😉 It’s so awesome that we have that tiny, but amazing, piece of music history to watch.
@@karenmikalofsky5287 My father was going to college in England (Inperial College Of London) in the late 60’s and early 70’s, and he saw Black Sabbath 28 times (he saved all of his ticket stubs). Starting in 1969 they developed a huge following in the U.K. and they played everywhere they could, they sometimes played 2 shows a day. My father and his friends would drive all over England, Wales, and Scotland to see them. They were always really loud, and there would always be a lot of people smoking weed inside and outside the show. At one show Ozzy walked onstage while smoking a bong. Black Sabbath would often take LSD before going onstage, but as you can see from the Paris show in 1970, they somehow played perfectly. They also used to be the opening act for a lot of other big groups that were touring the U.K., like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who and so on.
Nice to see young people open their minds and appreciate musical pioneers like Sabbath. Check out their song “Black Sabbath”. The drummer is Bill Ward. Truly a master and of his craft. Keep rocking young man!
You know a song is pure 🔥 fire 🔥 when Zay is making a stink face throughout the entire song!!! Love it !! OZZY Osbourne has one of the best voices in heavy metal...both during his time in Black Sabbath and as a solo artist!!
Dude, your are in for a treat checking out all of this classic rock and early metal stuff! I'm 57 and grew up on this type of music, and can't imagine going through life not hearing it. The 70's were a great time for all genres of music. Another great band that combined both Jazz and Rock is Steely Dan. Well worth checking out. Top rate musicians and great songs.
Hi Zay, so happy you are starting with this one for Sabbath but any of their songs are bangers, you know they're my 3rd favorite band! Saw them almost as many times as l saw Zeppelin, LOTS!!
A ton of these original rockers were born in England right after World War II. The aftermath of the war was still very much a part of family life for these lads.
one of my favorites from my misspent youth. Ozzy & Co. really made their mark on the 20th Century. they created a template for heavy music in the 70s and then went on to spearhead metal in the 80s. Ozzys voice always takes me way way back :)
I swear to god the air raid background in this song was inspiration for its use by hip hop artists 20 years later. Just has that appropriate drone of danger and tension.
There we so many great bands in the late 60s and 70s. Each different in their approach to their craft. It was easy to love Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Yes,…… all different….all excellent. One’s favorite was what wanted to listen to at that moment! Great reaction! You looked like we all did listening to Sabbath!
As you age and have heard it so many times, you can just about hit very note in your head, yes drums too...It's how we grew up man. Many classics topics remain relevant even today.
When people ask where Heavy Metal Music came from everyone points to Black Sabbath as the beginning. Other bands were pushing the limits but Sabbath went all the way. Ozzy Osborne really sold the lyrics as vocalist, Toni Iommi (riff master) on lead guitar, Geezer Butler (he wrote most of the songs) on bass, and Bill Ward (arguably the best) on drums. Their first three albums were amazing!
Great band to react to. You will have a new favorite band, guaranteed. I suggest you start with their first album. They are Heavy Metal Gods... Enjoy your mind blowing, ear pounding, dark-blues-progmetal rock, ride through the greatness of Black Sabbath...
Van Halen's first album in 1978 was a ground pounding, ear piercing, in your face, unapologetic rock and roll epic Masterpiece... I saw them open up for Black Sabbath in Chicago... "My ears are still ringing".
"Faeries Wear Boots" is one of their best, imo. And it's a lot more badass than its title might imply! One of the most soul-soaring guitar melodies and transitions ever!
These Guys came out the Same Time Zeppelin Did! Awesome Group! In the Late 60's, early 70's You Could Go with The Dark, Angry Sound which was SABBATH 😠🎶!! Or you Could go With BLUESY, Soulful Rock that Was ZEPPELIN 🚄🔥!! Oh, & FYI! This Drummer, & ZEPPELIN's Drummer used to Be The Most Sought after back when they were Running around Playing Pubs in LONDON 🇬🇧!! That Singer is OZZY OSBORNE!!
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!! 😁😁😁😁And Black Sabbath...Deep Purple......Bad Company.......and Led Zeppelin really influenced a lot of the bands of the 90's such as Alice In Chains....Soundgarden.....Nine Inch Nails......Stone Temple Pilot.......Love Black Sabbath!!!! Excellent band!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi mate, Trust me Zay you will love 'Fairies Wear Boots' by Black Sabbeth. Thats a true statement right there, enjoying your reactions, many thanks, cheers to you
This really should have been the Live In Paris 1970 performance as others have said. They were still working out the lyrics, but the band and Ozzy are on absolute fire. One of the best live performances I've seen. Sabbath are absolute pioneers, and their first five albums are all perfection. They are arguably the second most important band in rock after the Beatles, as they near-solely gave birth to the entire genre of heavy metal. Check out Hand of Doom, After Forever, or Into The Void. Their first album they were still working things out, but by their second album they had it all figured out, and War Pigs was the song that opens the album. As always a good quality video is key, don't pick the first video youtube gives you, look for at least 720p. The fact that you first experienced this masterpiece in this 240p video is a travesty. The older the video the lower the quality.
Good choice War Pigs released 1970. I got to see Black Sabbath summer of 1978 “The Never Say Die” tour at Chicago International Amphitheater which is no longer in existence. The Beatles also perform their. Van Halen was the opening band that night and David Lee Roth was Running With the Devil, but what show! I also remember at least 4 to 5 fights breaking out as I sat in upper tier of the venue. A birds I view. Needless to say the show was spectacular and VERY LOUD!!!. My hearing still good 👍. One of my top three Black Sabbath songs is Iron Man which was played that night give it a listen and enjoy. From Lombard Illinois Israel
People used to say that Sabbath was evil, but actually they did dark songs about dark subjects. War Pigs the anti-war song and " Hand of Doom" the anti-drug song , just to name two. Children of the Grave is also an anti-war song.
next video has to be Jimi Hendrix ~ Hey Joe , Live at the Monterey Pop Festival, 1967, in my opinion the greatest live performance of all time, not too mention, it was Jimi's debut in America after London, and taking Europe by storm, he goes to this festival, and takes the whole world by storm, just feast you're eye's, you've got too see it! but I love y'all's content been watching since the purple haze reaction, and can't wait too see more!!
If you're checking out early heavy rock/metal bands you should check out Deep Purple. They have lots of great stuff, but I'd suggest the song Highway Star as a starting point.
You might have heard of Ozzy Osbourne. Another band from England formed in 1968. What was in the water as so many bands came out of Engalnd around the 60s 70s. I believe this was an anti Vietnam War protest song. I haven't heard this in 20 years and brings back my high school memories. Boomers were spoiled with this quality music, today its all boy band auto tune dance chorigraphed aimed at tweens. Mostly crap.
Zay...you definitely have to check out a live video of Eddie Van Halen playing his Eruption guitar solo...may I suggest you watch Eddie Van Halen Eruption solo from the video titled "Live Without A Net !!! You will have your mind completely blown bro !!! 🤯
Masters of War is about as plain as Bob Dylan ever got, putting aside allusions and metaphors to claim stuff simply like “even Jesus would never forgive what you do.” Somehow Ozzy Osbourne got even plainer and simpler in War Pigs: “Politicians hide themselves away/they only started the war/why should they go out to fight/they leave that role to the poor.” TRUTH. Has always been.
do led zeppelin and deep purple.... together with Sabbath they a the trinity of God rock for a reason.. Deep purple is the first band to own their own private jet liner
Felt naughty for listening to BS back in the day. Evil......but way cool. They wrote the bible for hard rock metal. So good, even now. Faith No More does a great rendition, also. Hey, Faith No More!!!
I like this song better without the video that it comes with. The video takes away from the song and you stop listening to the song and watch the video which is catastrophic. Watch the video after the song and you'll probably like him better. Believe me, I grew up on Black Sabbath... I know
at the Emmys they don't even bother to give out the rock and roll Awards during the show they do it during the commercials... this is how far we have fallen.. Rock has no value to woke morrons and race baiters...
That music is too dark for me..... Not nearly as talented as the band YES!!!!! Imo OR FRANK ZAPPA, A ONCE IN A CENTURY MUSICIAN!!!!!! TRUST ME.. He has over 1000 songs, some are unlistenable, but most are BRILLIANT!! TRY THE SONG (THE MUFFIN MAN) YOU WILL BECOME A FAN IMMEDIATELY.. Watch a vid of him SHREADING A GUITAR!!!!!!
Bill Ward beating those drums like they owe him money!
Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-seventies" Now you see why!!
Tony Iommi is probably the most overlooked guitarist ever
Trust me Zay you will love "Fairies Wear Boots" by Black Sabbath. It will take you on a musical ride so hang on! 🚀 There are many greats, but Black Sabbath is one of the greatest bands of all time and will continue to hold that status forever.
Yes indeed, Hand of Doom, System of The Universe, Sweetleaf, so many songs that just flat out Rock
@@willredding3859 Symptom not System.
The live version of War Pigs from 1970 is epic, you really get to appreciate how good Bill Ward is on drums for sure.
My suggestion for the next Black Sabbath reaction: N.I.B. Killer bass intro and great musicianship throughout! And a pretty nice twist of a message in the lyrics. ZAY, if you liked this, you need to watch “Black Sabbath War Pigs live in Paris 1970”, these guys were an amazing live act.

Yep. Classic rock offers a lot of wisdom in the lyrics.
