Demolish Venice and make it into a modern port

In 1909 an Italian poet founded the Futurist movement. Filippo Marinetti embraced anarchy and Fascism: he rejected Italy's classical heritage and glorified militarism and the age of the machine. A year later he demanded that Venice be demolished to make way for a modern port. Thankfully, his vision came to nothing.
