This is the second movie ( possibly more ) I have seen Jack Oakie play a band leader. Ironically in real life he was functionally deaf. That never seemed to hamper his abilities to be a fine player in movies.

Thank you for these lovely movies about dancers. I do ballroom and I love learning the 1930s variations of the Fox Trot, Tango, etc. Thanks again!

I am a professional dancer myself. My Dad used to win dance contest at Roseland too. So it runs in the family. That's why I have a Facebook group for George Raft because he was a fantastic self-taught dancer. I also have another YT Channel just for George's dance clips I have edited. You may want to look at those too. Here's the link: th-cam.com/channels/ChkoRKEV8E9Adj_jUng07g.html

You also may want to join Georges Group the link is in the description above, :-) George brought the Tango, the Rumba, and the Bolero to American movies.

If I could dance at all I would enjoy dancing. Waltzes, tangos etc. Not modern shaking to the music. Alas I have never learned to do it properly.

My Dad taught me ballroom dancing and I'm glad he did. Ballroom and Tango is still being done in certain clubs. I've gone to those dance places.

Enjoyed the negative socio metrics and insensitivity to a wayward woman's heart. The way it ends is karma Good for her! Great movie 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿. The cast was outstanding.

No doubt one of the best pre-codes I've seen. Cast, story, direction, is top notch. Miriam Hopkins and many more pretty faces. Dirty rats and gold diggers with an assortment of eager spenders. Dozens of swell kids, two live bands, no breaks, no waiting. Those 'respectable' dance halls were some glorified meat markets! At least, everyone dressed nice. 🙂Thanks Hollywood Golden age. A keeper.

New favorite pre-code movie! Cast, story, direction, is top notch, totally agree with that! Really cool to see the band playing shows and also behind the scenes. Only one hour and 12 minutes for a noir/romance/comedy/drama 🎬

Yes, it is it was also the first part to "My Silent Love". Both beautiful songs this was the first time it was used in a movie. I will be uploading the song in a screensaver I made of the dance scene in this movie on my other Channel for George Raft's dance clips. Stop in its th-cam.com/channels/ChkoRKEV8E9Adj_jUng07g.html

Hopkins possesses sublime inward beauty that sizzles outwardly at a simmer. She is exquisite, draping herself in slender ripples wherever she turns and moves I can hardly imagine how beautiful she she must have been at 20 and not here at 30.
