I laughed when you commented, "I moved here a year ago and how time flies!" Reminds me of the 5th Doctor telling Nyssa, "You know how it is. You put things off for a day and the next thing you know, it's a hundred years later." That leads me to my "story": I moved to TN 22 years ago and you know what? It feels like I moved here yesterday. Oh and the music? Right out of a 1950s Hollywood movie. Despite the fact that I'm on 2 acres, if you saw my living room... Well, it looks like an arboretum. I've just moved all the tropicals indoors; that's the fig , orange, and lime tree; the Arbequina olive; the avocado tree, the tea tree plant (Camellia Sinensis that produces tea leaves for tea); and the Piper Nigra that gives me pepper seeds to grind for pepper. Then there's the geraniums, the variegated and trumpet jades and some other cold-weather intolerant plants. (Yeah. We do I put them all!) In front of my kitchen window there's a four-foot by seven foot moving metal shelf where the orchids are and the trays growing lettuce, spinach and sometimes, radishes. All this in a house that's 1, 200 square feet. Jus proof that where there's a will there's usually a lawyer. :)
I'm glad for you...I've told people that I'm one of the least affected people in the world by this virus mess, because I already worked out of the house, when I go fishing, I'm out in the middle of nowhere, in the woods, and when I play golf, I play late in the evening, alone, on a deserted course. I'm basically a hermit - and I'm looking to move even further out in the sticks...too many people around here; I'm the opposite of you - I like the country.
I am very blessed to live in the very outer suburbs of Chicago! We have the rural aspect and easy access to good shopping. Like Nordstrom rack etc 30 mins away. And if you want to get to the city just hop on the train and your there in an hour !

I look forward to seeing your videos once you get moved back home and settled in. Congratulations on the decision to go home and hello from Arkansas USA ✌️😊
Congratulations on the move and it's good you are doing it for all the right reasons. It's crazy how much you pay for such a small place, but it isn't crazy as some places like in New York and San Francisco. I have been contemplating a move as well. California is becoming too expensive to think of retiring in, this coupled with the state political climate, is making California very unattractive. For the price of my house here (1960's vintage), I could buy 2 similar homes (or one big home) back east in the country. This is a tough decision as I have family buried here and it is hard to complain about the weather here in California. I wish you the very best and look forward to more videos from your new locale.
I lived in England for several years in 2000. To all Americans contemplating the move, England is not America. You have a really nice updated kitchen. You don’t find that everywhere. You don’t even find mixer taps everywhere. The house that I lived in had a cute back garden and that was the draw for me. But the second bedroom was the same size as my American walk-in closet. So that’s pretty much what I used it for. There are things I absolutely loved and miss about living there but sometimes I felt like someone had thrown me into 1970.
Yea! My son and his family live in Marchmont off The Links. When I can get back there , I'm in NY, maybe I'll see you sometime. Good luck with your move!
Congratulations on the move! The adventure, called life, is drawing you in to some new and exciting escapades just waiting to be found and sought out. Thanks for taking us on your journey. I know for one, I appreciate being able to get "out of the house", even if I don't go anywhere because of the pandemic.

Best of wishes moving back. Edinburgh has wonderful restaurants and a nice theatre community. My brother and I are both urban creatures and were speaking only yesterday about this and how though restaurants are open in both of the regions of the US where we live it makes little sense to dine even alfresco since people pass by in close proximity.
I don’t blame you. I miss Scotland and I only live 2 miles from the border in kielder forest. My family have been going to Avimore and Glenmore since my mum was 2, over 60 years ago. I’ve been up there every year at least once since I was born too but the campsite we usually stay at is closed this year because of covid and so are most other places so couldn’t go up this year but hopefully will be up to do a walk in memory of my granda around Loch an Eilein on his 100th birthday in November as he wanted to do himself. Scotland (glenmore specifically) is like a second home to me.

Yay!! Edinburgh is the best, it’s home. Looking forward to more videos from Scotland. Congratulations!
Thank you! 😃
I moved back to my home town about a year ago so i don't blame you .I'm happy for you and the wife for going back to Edinburgh .
I am very blessed to live in the very outer suburbs of Chicago! We have the rural aspect and easy access to good shopping. Like Nordstrom rack etc 30 mins away. And if you want to get to the city just hop on the train and your there in an hour !
Too bad your taxes are sooo outrageous
@@christinezehnle7552 your telling me !
I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the title of your blog. I always wondered why you were in London. I don't blame you...I would go to Scotland, too. I think COVID has changed life forever. I have doubts we will ever be back to what was normal. Best of luck, good healing, and thanks. See you soon. Hope my trip to Scotland doesn't get cancelled again. Rebooked for July 2021.
Can I just say, that's a lot of shoes you got there!! 👞🥿👟👠👡👢😂
I am responsible for about 10% of them 🤣🤣
It's always great to go home. So happy for you... Please tell us about your new job and home. Since I recently and quite unexpectedly learned that I'm 40% Scottish (My name is Irish and I have a Danish grandfather.), I am especially eager to hear everything you have to say. Best of luck from the US on you reboot!
And this, America, is how most of the stuff at Ikea makes sense.
what
Yeah, I don't get what you mean, either. I've never thought Ikea stuff didn't make sense, only the names and how one pronounces them.
It’s all about the tiny room dynamics of IKEA stuff. Rooms without closets and making something out of nothing.
@@RSPDiver Oh, yes! I have a tiny studio apartment. Ikea has saved me so much space, which is important in Arizona because the more clutter you have the hotter your space.
I loved the video and great music! Glad you're going back to Scotland
Since you mentioned the original London Bridge I have some trivia about it: it was dismantled in 1967 and relocated to Lake Havasu in Arizona.
Wow that’s cool, but as late as 1967? I thought it was dismantled centuries ago
@@shaunvlog here's a link to the Wikipedia page for it. It was built in the 1830's so not as old as I thought it is.
Yeah. I almost went out of my way to see it driving back home on a road trip!
The original was built by the Romans.
Happy for you. Truly happy for you. Can't wait to see your new content.
Here we wear masks. Fortunately, I have a house with land so quarantine is more of a stay-cation...sitting out on the deck in the sunshine listening to the birds - refreshing!
Kay Allen : I was a bit surprised not to see masks, I guess that they don’t use them there???
@@slcRN1971 They might have to because Britain's spiking again now.
@@slcRN1971 For what it's worth I can certainly speak for Scotland and say we're advised to wear masks
@@slcRN1971 masks throughout uk are mandatory in all enclosed spaces and public transport. It's okay not to wear a mask outside or away from large crowds. But everything else masks must be worm
Wow! I had no idea you have autoimmune disease! I have 5 of them. God bless you! It is very hard and little understood. Be strong!
MS here... 😥
You can buy a 3 bed 2 bath home with insurance and taxes included where I live for half what you pay.
I may see a move in my future ...
Where is that??
Ga alabama border, near Columbus ga
I would’ve never left Scotland! I’m so happy y’all are moving back... good choice!!
Needs must for work etc
Impression before watching the video: "omg, he looks so upset!"
After.... Good for you. I really appreciate your vlogs on Scotland, particularly because I am considering moving there.
Thanks again.
Pause @ 0:21, that is a great thumbnail! ha
Oh golly! I thought you were leaving TH-cam. So glad to know you are moving back to Scotland being that's where your heart truly is and your interest in finding out more of the Scottish history and passing it onto all of us. God bless you on all your journeys Shaun. 💜🙏
Looks like a beautiful city but not one I am very interested in. I just want to see Scotland!❤️🙃
I am more interested in. Scotland that is why I joined.
I'm glad you belong in Scotland I'm so glad I subscribe to you
I wish I could find a Jack or a Victor from still game I want to move there so bad
Congratulations on your move!
I like how he smoothly steps out the window. I’m 5’2” that’s a whole hike for me 😂😂😂
Sleepy Panda : I am 5’7” and I love that private type garden, but my legs don’t work so well anymore and that would be quite a site to see me go out that window, ha! It did make that very small apartment look nicer, because you could look out that window for the feeling of more space.
Ahhh!!!! I was so happy to hear you say those words!!! That you're going home!!! 😊 I love your Scottish content and you seemed happier when you lived there. I look forward to seeing your videos once you get moved back home and settled in. Congratulations on the decision to go home and hello from Arkansas USA ✌️😊
As someone with a couple autoimmune diseases as well, it's definitely inspiring to see you out exploring!
Very glad you're going back to Scotland - but still be careful, COVID-19 is bad up there also!
Love your plants. I agree- green is good. I lived in north London for 3 years and loved my garden.
Go home Shaun... you DO NOT need to be paying $2000 a month for NOTHING!!
Most people should leave London......and all high priced cities. Where would they go? There isn't enough room in the country for everybody.
Home is where the heart is!!! Hope the move went well!!!
“The soul has been sucked out “
😢
Congrats on your new home Shaun. Hope you both have settled in well. Good to see you back in Edinburgh. Thanks for the video! :)
Dear Lord, my Mortgage isn't even that much...
Love the access to the garden!
Honey, come to North Carolina, you can get some cheap land, and build a modest home.
Congratulations on the move! The adventure, called life, is drawing you in to some new and exciting escapades just waiting to be found and sought out. Thanks for taking us on your journey. I know for one, I appreciate being able to get "out of the house", even if I don't go anywhere because of the pandemic.
Ahhh fab I want to wish you both the very best of luck back in Edinburgh, really pleased for you and looking forward to your vids from my favourite city ❤️
I live was out in the suburbs on long island in NY. No way would I go into NYC for any reason. My poor husband has to work in the city. Its dangerous and unhealthy, I wish he had a different job but alas 10 more years to go.
And with your indoor garden you can make your own taro. And plenty of space for Irn Bru and whiskey. What more could a growing lad need?
Congrats on being able to go home. I enjoyed the tour.
Thank you, TH-cam for recommending Shaun But how does TH-cam know I have a 'thing' for Scottish accents? I am Australian and my favourite meditation teacher is just an older version of Shaun, his name is Andrew Johnson so lucky me, now I have two lovely Scotsmen to listen to.Lots of binge watching ahead, thank you Shaun. Btw, good luck with the move, exciting!
Thanks a lot for finding me and subscribing 😊🇦🇺 🏴
Shaun, my pleasure, absolutely.
Great news! So glad to hear that you are moving back to Scotland.
Shaun, I just loved this video and the way you showed us London, your garden, your apartment, which looks really nice by the way. And I am also so glad you are going home to Scotland. I used to love the video's you made of Scotland and when you went to so many castles and country side ....loved loved it. I do love Scotland. Thanks so much.
Excellent Shaun! I look forward to seeing the place. I was raised in rural Louisiana and it's been my experience the big cities haven't had souls for decades. Give me the peace and quiet of country life any time.
Nice video Shaun! I know the move went well but I hope your happier now dude! You still working? Or more TH-cam videos
Congratulations on your new adventure. Its sounds so exciting!!! I'm looking forward to more videos about Scotland!
Fantastic SHAUN , I could see the smile on your face like a relieved look , more sense of peace n belonging too , Back to BONNIE SCOTLAND 🏴🏴🏴 Not to mention family and the comfort of familiarity , along with the AUTOIMMUNE issues which both of us unfortunately have , that leaves us very vulnerable to virus , germs , bacterial infection nuff of that , can't wait to see more of you back home n still maybe get to see where my family is from really close to Edinburgh , All the Best to Y'all Be Safe n Take Care Brother 👌 👌🏴🏴🏴
Oh wow. I paused to look at your whisky collection and I noticed that you have the same sgian dubh as me. cool
Yay! So glad you get to move back to Edinburgh! I hope Teka is happy to move as well. Blessings on your new home.
