Worked with metal for 50 years. Would never think this would work. Wouldn’t even try it. Yet you did and it apparently worked just fine. Would be interesting to see how it holds up. Nice idea. Great texture.

Basically a 3D "printed" knife! I like it! Very cool. Those two Gerbils in Montana will be doing this next!

Finally a cheaper, faster, easier and more efficient way to make a blade blank! No more having to trace the pattern on bar stock and then having to cut it out with a grinder or band saw which is good because that frees up time to drag out the welding rig and bottles. 10/10 would recommend!

At first I was like what does he mean mig welded, then I watched and said oh he's 3d printing with a mig welder! Really original idea and it gave me one, someone has to make a mig welder with a smaller tip and have it computer controlled to make more blades, that would be awesome. Great job, fantastic look on the blade, I really love the texture!

Could you do this again but alternating between different weld types to make a pseudo-damascus? Not sure if dumb question or not, lol. Cool thing you did though, love it!
Sure you can get stainless mig wire and maybe silicon bronze
Because you melt the "base metal" while welding, you have some dilution happening, so you'll loose that damascus effect and have something like a shade effect i think
