      Lynn. This is a great discourse. We need back our identity, culture, values, integrity and dignity Dr Githae should also be interviewed on all local stations. This information is important for the young generations. They must work hard to save future generations by rejecting colonialism and embracing local culture and mzee programmes should be embraced by government. This is Kenyan enlightenment. We must decolonise to survive foreign conquest ❤

    I've always thought that the reason we suffer as Africans in the continent is because we try to copy and live like the Westerners which is not our original design. We force a way of life that is not ours and the outcome is a lot of dysfunction in every way. Colonialism and neo-colonialism has a lot to do with this outcome but we cannot keep living this way. Let us keep being enlightened.

      The best way to learn a language is to live and work with the natives for a 6 months.

    • @lekis5975
      @lekis5975 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @kam6321 Exactly! Most Africans were bilingual if not polygots. They learnt other languages through trading and intermarrying with their neighbours. A perfect example are the Luhyas and Luos. Many Luhyas (Samia, Mariachi and BhaNyala) speak Luo despite the fact they are BaNtu and Luos are Nilotes. We used to speak each others languages, but the coloniser insisted we learn English, so they could eavesdrop on what we are saying.
      It's imperative we learn our languages, and each others languages cause Europeans don't play that game. When Boers immigrated to Kenya, they first sent their children to the British school, but once they had settled down in the country, they excused themselves to go off and start their own school, so they could teach their children in Afrikaans, which pissed off the British to no end. They had a big argument about it, but the Boers weren't having it. They told the British it was imperative they open their own school and teach their children in Afrikaans before the elders who could teach the children the language died!!!
      You will never find a German, Italian, Spanish or Italian or French person speaking English to the point of forgetting their mother tongue, not only do they strive to speak their languages, they explore the richness, luxuriate in poetry of the language as evidenced by how they wield the sayings, metaphors,similes in daily conversation; yet in Kenya you would be hard pressed to find people easily wielding misemo, methali na mafumbo in their mother tongue or even Kiswahili (bar Coasterians).
      Houston, we have a PROBLEM.

    This was very enlightening. I have been hoping to get to a school that focusses on African indigenous knowledge and how I wish his vision actualizes to a T. He mentioned Mt. Kenya region as a hub for traditional medicine knowledge and that's quite fantastic. There's also a region in Taita-Taveta county that practices traditional healing practices to date. I had the privilege of working there and the local knowledge on plants and herbs( + natural building practices) was really beautiful to watch. Very young children know what trees and herbs to take when they get different ailments. What to give livestock in different seasons...one even showed me a tree that worked as a natural "Omo"-foam and all...All's not lost. I love this shift so so much! Thanks Lynn for giving a space to such conversations.

    This father of this nation is full of wisdom. I remember growing up there are times I could see the community gather some old women and men to go and pray and sacrifice at Nyambene forest when there is drought. Yes life is spiritual and before christianity our people were praying and sacrifising to our God. My mother used to treat herself with traditional medicine. She is still alive, around 100 years.
    Yes we need to rethink our ways and get rid of the bad things and ways we have copied from western world. 100% in agreement with his wisdom. May God protect him and keep him long to spread his wisdom more and more.

    I have never heard of this Doctor, but I am happy to have come across him. He speaks a lot of true knowledge, Africa we have many great men and women we really should be tuning into this knowledge to uplift ourselves, an organisation of all these men and women on the continent and in the diaspora should be formed so that their knowledge can be dispersed amongst Africans.

    This is the best interview I have listened to in a long time. Thank you and Lynn and Dr.
    This is how I usually see it. We as humans stem from the same source. Each race of humanity is like a branch from from a tree. What we did as black people is, we left our main branch where we were thriving and our Maker had placed us and hooped to other branches. The truth is we are not thriving in those new branches. We end up becoming slaves because we don't have stability from our main branch.
    We changed the order of our survival and we started looking outside for help. That's why we roam around the world looking to leave our MOTHERLAND so bad. We also cry for outsiders to help us during trouble.

    Hallo Lyn, its like you read my mind. I was wishing for someone to enlighten us about neocolonialism because if we don't take this topic seriously we will never get true independence. Our pride as african will be restored once we put the colonialist in their place. I hope that what is happening in the Sahel will spread through out Africa.

    Wow, what a guest@ Lynn Ngugi. I would like to meet this elder oozing lots of wisdom. He should have talked about the gourd in the background. Is that for fermenting porridge or aesthetics? Asante Lynn, we are going back to our roots. Never again should we worship foreign gods. Where would one find this awesome leader in Nyírí? How can someone book an appointment for kíríra? Please invite him again to share more knowledge on herbal/ alternative medicine.
