China is certainly an amazing Country. Thank you guys for taking us along. 18 hours on a train? Wow that’s pretty good. Looking forward to more adventures with you guys. Watching from Minnesota.
Hi Ben It must be very painful to take an 18-hour train ride. Next time you should choose a train starting with G, which is newer, more comfortable and takes only 7 hours😊
Welcome to China! I hope you have fun there! I highly recommend going. I recommend trying a buffet in China, where the price ranges from £60 to £100. The experience is incredibly luxurious and offers great value for money-something you won’t find in any Western country.
You need to visit Shenzhen, Shanghai, Qingdao, Xian, Chengdu and Urumqi. If you go to Guangzhou, the cities of Hongkong, Shenzhen and Macao are a few kilometers away. Its called to Guangdong greater bay Area. With a population of 86 million is the biggest metropolitan area in the world.
I rode a 16-hour sleeper train from Xian to Chengdu and only because there were no other modes of transport to get there! It was quite a memorable experience sharing my carriage with a load of elderly people who fed me noodles and ensured my bed bunk was comfortable during the largely bumpy ride!
The Chinese people are, in essence, family-oriented beings. You can see this from the vast number of words in the Chinese language used to describe family relationships. As long as the Chinese consider you part of their family, you’ll receive an abundance of warmth and care.
I’m glad to see you visiting China, including Chongqing where I’m living now. BTW every major city in China has at least 3 mega train stations, and yes similar in size to major airports. You choose the nice and relaxing sleeper train option of 18 hours, but for a similar price you can also get a nearly direct sitting train in about 6 to 7 hours for the 2 thousand + km journey. For the Wall, there are multiple points to see within the Beijing region. I think some are closer.
I’ve not been on a sleeper train in China, but regular/ high speed trains in China , “Business class” is the highest , “First Class” is actually a de facto second class .
What a way to start the video! It's great that you were both able to at long last enjoy a fantastic sleeper train :) Edit: *Ngl, that hostel looked pretty classy!*
As an Indian, it will always baffle me how China became so exceedingly advanced, in quite a short of amount of time. Incredible! I understand the country has its issues with the government, but still, can't argue the government surely worked a heck lot in developing their nation. *Sigh* Hoping the same for India one day, definitely not in my lifetime though.
If you asked a Chinese person in the 70s when he would think china would have standards close to the west, he probably would say not in his lifetime either, probably the same in the 80s and early 90s, but then china accelerated... A lot has changed in the last 20 years.
Well, first of all, you need a government that plans for the next 20 years, instead of only limited sight of his/her own term. China has changed several leaders, but they are all following the series of "five-year plans" that plan beyond a certain leader's term.
Impossible. You have one life live that in a country you like instead of pinning your hopes on a lost cause. Once you are dead it doesn't matter whether your were an Indian or a citizen of any country
Your comments about the Taj Mahal - I was there for sunrise and thought it was absolutely beautiful. I wasn't really expecting much at all, but no photograph can do it justice. I do agree however that the city of Agra is an unspeakable dump. I haven't been to China, but it looks amazing. I knew China's economy was outstripping the West, but the bar it started from was set very low, and I honestly had no idea just how advanced it has become.
It’s a good country with nice people so far , just ignore the media lies and to be honest peoples ignorance and see for yourself because we are definitely visiting , just not sure which city
I have been to China many times and I found out that taxi drivers are very friendly, speak with them using a good translator app like yandex translate, which works outstandingly well !
Most people don’t take the premium soft sleeper trains on ordinary trains, which cost more than high-speed trains and airplanes, but take longer to reach the destination.
That was actually very fun to watch. Thanks. I watched the last video of you on the train but forgot to thank you for NOT demonstrating the toilet in the floor thing. :0
The green train is the cheapest train in China. Generally, only the elderly or the poor will take it. Try not to buy a hard berth or a hard seat, because they will smoke at the train connection. I hope these uncivilized things will not bother you, but the high-speed rail is fine, because smoking is prohibited on the high-speed rail.
Ben something is fishy. Are you getting paid by China to promote there country and defame it's rival India . By seeing your video of India I was surprised about the fact you have literally pointed all things of India as Negative. The idea that everything is bad in India is kinda gross. Why can you just defame a country just for views and money mate ?
The man in seat 61 suggests: Quick answer, London to Penzance by sleeper. From £125.40 one-way or £228.40 return in a single-bed sleeper all to yourself. From £114.90 one-way or £207.40 return per person for two people sharing a twin-bed sleeper. These are Super-Off-Peak fares + the cheapest possible sleeper supplement.
You are comparing 500KM trip London to Penzance of UK vs 2000km trip Chongqing to Beijing of China Looks to me China sleeper train is much cheaper as the distance is 4 times of UK , but the cost is lower. China does have 2-best sleeper but not very common.
@@xgguo3531 I am not doing the comparing, Ben did. My figures are a more accurate representation. I am not pretending that the distances are comparable (we don't have a comparable distance train). I agree - it looks like the Chinese sleeper is cheaper - but is it a comparable fare i.e. bought 2 weeks in advance? Same day? etc. It is never a simple comparison.
@@michaelatkinson7577 I see. Good to know the accurate ticket price of UK. China train ticket price is almost stable as my experience. May be more expensive in Spring Festivals.

I was just checking for the next video and here it is. Nice way to start my Monday. Oh and I would never travel to India and it's easy to see why the Taj Mahal is the least favorite.
Taj Mahal is so overrated. It only made the list of "world wonders" cuz India was overly romanticized before the Internet was a thing. Now its true image is exposed to the world...
Soft sleeper has 4 beds. It is the standard setup of China railway. Only some trains have advanced cab, which has 2 beds , even private room for single person, but not very common.
Those little seats in the isle are a great idea. Jolly decent to eat outside the room. Gonna try Hk-Xiamen soon. They've really done well building such a network.
This is an ancient train that only old and rural people use to save some extra bucks during their travel back to their hometown after their business in suburbs around 9pm in the evenings everyday, You should have taken the High Speed Sleeper Double Deckers that are way better and travel at 300KMPH!, assuming you are not broke which I know you aren't xD
HSR sleeper train would be super comfy but ain't much for content. It would be super boring indeed, especially compared to those ben and kat took in certain other countries.
Someone already mentioned this, the two person-ONLY private cabin class does exist in China, though only a few select few train services even have them. This class is called “Premium Soft Sleeper”. A good example would be the K53 / K54 train direct service between Shenyang North Station and Beijing, and the train company markets the cabin class as “Mobile Hotel”. A Chinese TH-camr named “Amanoshrimp” recently reviewed it (though all commentary is in Chinese tho).
That's the one I took from Shenyang to Beijing that had a private toilet. The room was smaller than I expected, making it difficult to fit my suitcase.
for the traditional train in China, actually there is luxury seat, one cabin with only two seats, one sofa and the private toilet inside. for those Indian guys, this video was filmed just two days ago by a Indian travel youtuber in China. his trip was from Urumqi to Kashgar in Xinjiang. th-cam.com/video/7hDAnmp1emo/w-d-xo.html

Well, first of all, you need a government that plans for the next 20 years, instead of only limited sight of his/her own term. China has changed several leaders, but they are all following the series of "five-year plans" that plan beyond a certain leader's term.
The country and people has NO issues with the government because The Government is the People !
土地革命和阶级斗争
Impossible. You have one life live that in a country you like instead of pinning your hopes on a lost cause. Once you are dead it doesn't matter whether your were an Indian or a citizen of any country
Why on earth did you eat in the middle of the corridor? There was a bloody dining wagon!
Just my thinking , sur ! Too much India, sur ?
Some of the night trains don't have dinning cart. I ran into the same situation on the one from Shenzhen to Beijing.
Yes there is dining wagon on the train of China.
Yes, the dining wagon is usually at the front of the train, or she can eat at the table in the cabin.
显然餐车上的座位都被人霸占了,即使他们不吃饭
Thank you so much for sharing the wall for us all! what a trip!
It's 2100km from Chongqing to Beijing, the cost is only 100 pounds for soft sleeper train. it's nice price. lol
Most people don’t take the premium soft sleeper trains on ordinary trains, which cost more than high-speed trains and airplanes, but take longer to reach the destination.
但是,他不是使用的人民币思维
welcome my country❤.Enjoy your trip❤
That was actually very fun to watch. Thanks. I watched the last video of you on the train but forgot to thank you for NOT demonstrating the toilet in the floor thing. :0
The green train is the cheapest train in China. Generally, only the elderly or the poor will take it. Try not to buy a hard berth or a hard seat, because they will smoke at the train connection. I hope these uncivilized things will not bother you, but the high-speed rail is fine, because smoking is prohibited on the high-speed rail.

Clean organised train finally a good sleep Ben and Kat loving your content subscriber Australia 🇦🇺 ❤❤
Love it!!
I like how Ben asking Kat literally everything! Idk how he travel without her earlier…
Ben we need a compilation of all the horrible snores U met during you travel. I will never forget that Vietnamese on LOL
That’ll be an hour long video. Met some monsters in my time
Ben something is fishy. Are you getting paid by China to promote there country and defame it's rival India .
By seeing your video of India I was surprised about the fact you have literally pointed all things of India as Negative.
The idea that everything is bad in India is kinda gross.
Why can you just defame a country just for views and money mate ?
@@BackpackerBen Are you sure you don't snore?
@@BackpackerBenwhy don’t you carry earplugs?
Thank You for sharing these videos of China would love to visit China one day

Best content you’ve done , so much so myself and wife flying London to Shanghai then onto Seoul back to London

He's a helpful guy that man
You are comparing 500KM trip London to Penzance of UK vs 2000km trip Chongqing to Beijing of China
Looks to me China sleeper train is much cheaper as the distance is 4 times of UK , but the cost is lower.
@@michaelatkinson7577 the price is fixed no matter when you book the train. I think the train Ben took didn't change the price for several years.
Thank You Ben & Kat Great to see you two traveling together 🙂💙👍a good idea would be to carry some ear plugs with you when you travel🙂💙👍Those Steps are some steep.🙂🙃
Hi BOSS I'M JAMI BARBER 💈 💈
I was just checking for the next video and here it is. Nice way to start my Monday. Oh and I would never travel to India and it's easy to see why the Taj Mahal is the least favorite.
Please do travel this way as well,

Taj Mahal is so overrated. It only made the list of "world wonders" cuz India was overly romanticized before the Internet was a thing. Now its true image is exposed to the world...
'A cheeky fist' - fist bump....
'Backpacker' Ben nearly took on a (w)hole new meaning....
genius hahaha
First you declare your on the bottom…and later a cheeky fisting….is there something you want to tell us Ben?
Love the un repaired areas of the Great Wall, also the forbidden city is a must. 😊
Cheeky fist 👊🏻 hahaha, great video mate
Finally 🎉
I've taken a first-class seat once, from Shanghai to Chengdu, where we bought a private compartment for four of us, and the experience was quite good.
Such good timing, just finished your latest video and this popped up 😂
Had a shitty day, got into the train for heading home… and Ben an Kath put a smile on my face! ❤
Take a trip to Lijiang, that's where I go for a month's vacation every year.
Kat- "Were quite high up arent we!?"
Ben-"Ah were dead if this falls,Were dead!"
Ever the optimist Backpacker Ben!😂😂
Lot's of love from south Africa 🌍🇿🇦🌍🇿🇦🌍
You and bald deciding to do separate videos is pretty great. Think you guys operate differently. Nice to see
Soft sleeper has 4 beds. It is the standard setup of China railway.
Only some trains have advanced cab, which has 2 beds , even private room for single person, but not very common.
I always feel that comparing China with India is nonsense, totally different dimension. should really compare with Japan or Singapore
singapore is only a city
Friendly tip, download language packs for google translate beforehand so you don't have to worry about connection issues etc.
13:35 - kitna? to Chinese cabbie 😂
Ben, You can get out of india but can’t get india out of you 😂
They will come to india soon when their channel gets less views 😂
😂😂😂😂
@@ravinepzthey are not dependent on India for money, try harder.

Ben's definitely less stressed out compared to his India videos lol
Ben looked so uncomfortable, grumpy and downright unhappy in India..lol.
@@eugenechin2863Even the Indians are unhappy in India, hence they are fleeing the country in millions....lol
Those little seats in the isle are a great idea. Jolly decent to eat outside the room. Gonna try Hk-Xiamen soon. They've really done well building such a network.
This is an ancient train that only old and rural people use to save some extra bucks during their travel back to their hometown after their business in suburbs around 9pm in the evenings everyday,
You should have taken the High Speed Sleeper Double Deckers that are way better and travel at 300KMPH!, assuming you are not broke which I know you aren't xD
How much it cost?
你是只看封面,没看视频吧?他坐的不就是高铁动卧吗?
HSR sleeper train would be super comfy but ain't much for content. It would be super boring indeed, especially compared to those ben and kat took in certain other countries.
现在复兴号也变ancient train 了吗?
@@Jet-xc2hk 还真不是, 1755公里跑了18个小时。

9:38 You all are absolutely delightful.
Rolling on the floor "gave you a cheeky fist" 😂😂
I have spent 4 days & 3 nights on one train in India none stop. Its the chaos that makes it so enjoyable.
4 days and 3 nights on a train? Did it take you from india to Moscow or something?
@@DannyChean Its was called Goa Express but it didn't express it stopped every station along the way. You live you learn.
Ben disappointed no nookie on the train =D love what you do guys! I need to find my Kat!
你们坐的不是头等舱,真正的头等舱在高铁列车里票价大概需要400美元,而且比飞机的头等舱还要高级!在车站也有单独的vip候车间
for the traditional train in China, actually there is luxury seat, one cabin with only two seats, one sofa and the private toilet inside.
for those Indian guys, this video was filmed just two days ago by a Indian travel youtuber in China. his trip was from Urumqi to Kashgar in Xinjiang.
