I love this race. One of my favorite characters was a hexblood dream druid who got their powers from a night hag.
That’s a cool way to pull those elements together.
Thematically it makes sense I suppose a night hag would make an amazing fiend warlock patron sense they do classify as fiends so maybe multiclass this with night hag for a more direct connection to the night hag
One thing I like about how classes and subclasses are made is that it gives you freedom of story in a way. I can be a Hexblood with fey warlock levels without the need of an external source. My fey power comes from ME
True you could be opening your own well of power as you progress. Man that’s a good idea
Im playing a Hexblood Hexadin, Oath of Pestilence from Grim Hollow.
He's got a crown of thorny berry brambles arching from temple to temple, 'cept instead of berries it's infested with fat, lethargic black beetles.
To pile on the edgelord, he was a human healer who got hung by villagers alongside snake oil sellers, catching the plague he was trying to help with. A very powerful Night Hag got a hold of him & started cutting, & experimenting with his sickness until he awoke in her thrall.
The reborn "Ehmer Blackgrin" is very fun to play as this giggling envoy for his mistress. A creature of hate & cruelty contained by promises, rules & bargains. The perfect envoy his mistress' business in the Feywild, which is where he was encountered by the party as a guide.
I tend to stay away from 3rd party but oath of pestilence sounds very much up my alley. Dose the night hag have a big impact on your campaign?, as in she’s a major contributor to your character after the backstory
@@TheSinisterheroes
Not yet, but the DM says that there's plans in motion. And Ehmer's kind of got two patrons, right now.
There's his Mistress, who used Ehmer to extract a favor from Titania's "left hand" or another Fey Warlock in the party who became the Summer Queen's enforcer. Then there's the new plague his Mistress inadvertently created while she was doing Hag shenanigans to create Ehmer.
The original plague was called "blue blood" & has its origins in the shenanigans of another Hag coven getting ahold of some star children or moon calfs, & bleeding them during a ritual. So it was already this malevolent creation of Hag evil & outer gods madness, & when Ehmer's Mistress got a hold of a body killed just before it could quicken, her curiosity was piqued.
So... Ehmer is now a host to the "black blood" & it's hungry, stirring with nascent yet unknowable intellect, & a craving for despoiling the order of nature. Which so far has led to the infection of two Clerics & a Paladin devoted to nature domain & ancients oath. And they are ministering to war refugees.
He nearly corrupted an entire Druid grove but the rest of the party stopped him. The black blood was not happy to be denied... but also happy to find out that such succulent things like Druid groves exist.
Ehmer's Mistress has what she wants, & has let Ehmer explore, but he carries her eye with him. Made him promise to keep it safe, so he's compelled. So anything *truly* interesting she'll know about.
One conept that I've mulled over once or twice was that of an Eldritch Knight Hexblood with Connections with a sort of Baba yaga or Mad Maggie type hag and would have essentially acted as her eyes and ears in the world. Even considered having the character dress in a weird apparel similar to a Red or madcap with a strange harmony between a hags typical wear and a sort of Mad max Tinker.
For The Algorithm
That is such a strong combination. Just simply throwing on hex one round and surviving the con save to unload a series of attacks and action surge. That alone is a big nova moment. The parts are all there. Hell you could even be a series of different species/races to fit that story connection.
I would totally play one as a Locathah Hexblood Transmutation Wizard, aiming for the reduce visual age down to 13 years old. Just seems very hag-like. Then with the lock of hair, ask for one in exchange so you can do Dream unendlessly.
Oh yeah that would definitely work, I like that feel. In heavy role play games dreams could make a huge impact
I'm sorry that whole discription sounds like Tsunade from Naruto since she uses a combination of medical ninjutsu and transformation jutsu to make herself look younger I like the concept though mostly for that reason
@@douglaspope-gz1eq Oh ho ho, yes. Very much so. Then you could use either Tensor's Transformation or Tasha's Otherworldly Guise when she gets into Melee imitate her immense raw strength. The Transmuter Stone can be the diamond on her forehead.
I’m currently playing a Hexblood who looks perfectly human, and who hides her eldercross with a pointed hat. She’ll slowly reveal that she’s a Hexblood over time as she uses those features and I hint at the reveal (the other players don’t even know what she is yet…).
This all makes sense, considering the setting is set in Salem Massachusetts (she’d be dead if she couldn’t keep up the facade…).
She’s also definitely fey-like, even adding loopholes to her fiendish pact so she ultimately kept her soul (a fey and fiend making a Faustian pact would definitely lead to some loophole shenanigans…).
That’s a nice setting. It’s high magic and could have a lot of political intrigue. I really enjoy the hexblood. I am playing one currently
I honestly love the fact that hags can turn Hexbloods into other hags implying that Hexbloods are some kind of larvae to the hags
I like to see it as a well of magic. That could be awakened. Like it can reach maturity only when the hag has emerged
@@TheSinisterheroes kinda like a fucked up butterfly
Yes!!!!
I really wanna play this one. It sounds so cool
It is such a cool race
It's pretty cool not gonna lie
I once used this race to create a “Spirits” Bard, she was the culprit of my Whodunnit story.
I really like the spirits bard. I think it gets a bad wrap lol
Hexblood changling that is the hommunculus of an old crone
I love it but that’s kinda why you get disguise self
@@TheSinisterheroesbut if I’m a changling I can use all my tokens on hexes instead. Also it’s an alchemest
@@grubbu7073I don’t think hex requires a token
I stacked my half-orc racial attribute bonuses with the terrible things that monster did...i dont even know what these glyphs on my skin mean?
Token doesn't have to be of sinister intent, mom.
Oh but it’s so much more fun if it is
I am with it let’s find out !!!
I mean really half orc get a plus to strength and con, nether of witch is dex or wiz, which would push my class stats a lot, but strength and con. And doing so got my base stats very close to a 27 point build that I could have dumped stats on...I feel justified.
If I met a stickler who wanted to come up that slow I could dump six points and play a one dimensional character, and that would limit many chances of reclassing with attributes I spent dominating one dimensional play. Any thoughts?
