    Hi there, I’m receiving my xc40 recharge in a few days. When you create your Volvo account in the app does it have to be with a gmail account?
    I have a gmail account but have already set up a profile using a different email through the app.

    Hi Jebbie, I’ve enjoyed your tutorial videos so far as I’m planning on placing my order but just want to know is it possible to just create profiles without having them like with the Volvo Cars app on mobile phones? We live in a condo so parking is underground, not much use of the app since no cell reception anyway and we have experienced on losing numerous cell phones. So if it is post to just create profiles and link them with the keys would be plenty useful for us already. Thanks in advance.

      Christopher, Yes you can just create a profile and just do the key, Google account but it will constantly show this icon to complete profile. Don't use the complete profile wizard. Just do the individual choices under profile. I would suggest still connecting it on at least one phone. The reason is that even though you don't get reception in the building it will help you precondition when you are parked elsewhere eg.. go for lunch on a hot day. It is also free for four years and your Volvo dealer is actually required to do at least one on the delivery checklist. Especially in an EV if it is really hot or cold it helps the battery to precondition along with comfort. Thanks for watching

    Hi Jebbie, I could not connect the orange key to a profile. When I get into car with that key profiles seems not functioning, I cant change anything in profiles screen. How did you manage that? In your video this is not seen. Could you link any profile to orange key?

      I have seen this happen before but not with an orange key. There used to be a red key called a care key or valet key. It was a limited function key that you could give to a guest/valet and had limited functionality. It basically locked it to the guest profile. Maybe check with your dealer if the key is defective. Outside of that can’t offer any advice.

    Is it possible for me and my wife to have access to Volvo app from our phones with different email accounts. I tried to create a Volvo ID for my wife with her Gmail account but when I entered the VIN number it said that there can only be one owner profile.

      BK thanks for commenting. This subject has come up many times in questions so I will definitely plan on a video for this once the December shopping season is finished.
      Each profile can only be paired with one Volvo cars app. Create a brand new profile for your wife. Keep both in the car while doing this. When you are logged in you can click on settings and profile. Select make profile an admin or owner. Then pair your wife's Volvo cars app to that profile.
      I think the problem you may be having is due to trying to add two apps to the same profile. Please see this video below. Happy holidays

    Are the phone contacts connected to the profile? If my wife's profile is activated, she can only see her contacts and vice versa?

      Yes this is correct. You do have the option of adding a second phone to a profile if you want and then manually selecting which phone is active.

    If you loose your phone do you need to make a factory reset before your new phone?

      Where I have really encountered problems is when someone deletes the profile to trade in a car and leaves with their phone. In your scenario you would still have access to the profile too. I will confirm if there is a work around with my service manager but technically you are supposed to unpair on the phone. Will confirm that for you.

      I did go and speak to two people in service and everyone agrees that you would need phone and car to disconnect. I tried on my wife's second phone. It allows you to login to app and gives you VIN entry. After entering it will say phone is already paired and no proceeding forward. Solution is factory reset or create brand new profiles for both car and VOC.

      Hi Burak, thanks for the comment. I would check the following. Confirm that you clicked on the email to activate the Volvo ID. It won’t work without that. Secondly try with another known working ID. If that doesn’t work than it your car not the ID that is the source. Try confirming about latest software. Confirm you are also getting connectivity. If none of that works then final resort would be factory reset. Hope that helps and good luck
