    Another informative video with beautiful art, thank you. I recently have had similar issues with the brass as well after the bottle has been opened, and I find the smaller bottles the brass is more likely to float for me I’m sure it’s user error but I don’t know what I’m doing differently.
    I have lots of luck with ranger alloy when used in moderation, be careful because the alloy can take over the inks.

      Thank you! I wish I knew what was going on with the brass. I have heard from others who have had the same problem for over a year now, but I never experienced it when using out of my large bottle instead of the small. I have a big one here that I’m going to switch back to soon. I have just been trying to use up this little one first. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the brass in the larger bottle will work better. I recently bought a couple of the alloy colors, but haven’t tried them yet. Thanks for the tip on using them in moderation!

      😊 Thank you so much! I feel like my control is off some after such a long time away from painting, but it’s starting to come back a little. I’m just thrilled that I haven’t had to completely start the learning process over lol.

    I’ve been having the same trouble with my Piñata brass. So frustrating! But I’ve found it’s only on certain Nara papers. For instance, it misbehaves on my 11x14 heavy weight Nara but does fine on the lighter weight Nara. I fought my way through a painting tonight, wiping away brass scatter and redoing entire sections. 🤦🏼‍♀️

      That is so odd. It has worked ok for me on medium weight yupo, not on heavy weight yupo, not on medium weight NARA, somewhat on glass, and not on acrylic painted wood. It seems like the longer my bottle is open, the less the brass floats. I may try putting some alcohol in the bottle to see if that helps any. Maybe there’s just too much concentration of whatever Jacquard uses for the brassiness in it. Let me know if you find a solution that helps!

      @@LorrieBrewer I will! It’s working fine for me this morning. 🙄

    I got the same blow dryer you got and the same foot peddle but it keeps knocking the dryer off and I have to keep pushing the button on the dryer does this happen to you or am I doing something wrong?

    • @LorrieBrewer
      @LorrieBrewer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure I understand what you mean. Once I plug my dryer into the foot pedal, I turn my dryer on and leave it that way as long as I am working on a painting. I only use the foot pedal to control the on/off of the dryer and the amount of pressure I use with my foot controls the speed of the airflow from the dryer. If you mean your dryer is falling off the table due to the foot pedal, then you may just need a short extension cord to go between the dryer and foot pedal to keep the weight of the pedal from pulling on the dryer. I am sorry it's not working good for you and that I probably wasn't much help. I hope you can get it figured out.

    The only issue I see is the harsh lines of the purple on the side you started on... the center bit that you have issues with looks glowy to me... it's interesting how we as creators stress about one part of our art when it's another part that others feel put off by. All in all though, I've never seen work you've done that hasn't turned out beautiful...
    I presume your art is meant to be hung, but with alcohol ink being a bit fugitive, I'm curious about what you do to preserve the color as long as possible... I made a piece where I cut the paper into letters, and them did a similar technique to yours on them... would like to sell it, but I am concerned with how quickly the color will fade. I will post a pic of it to my community tab if your interested in how it turned out... I was pretty pleased with myself lol.
    Also, have you ever thought of making digital prints of your work? I've tried, but the scanner always picks up the shiny bits where the ink is thicker and the metallic bits in a weird way... I'm curious how you capture your work for the merchandise you sell... I've thought of doing digital prints of some of my work to sell like on etsy or similar but they need to be high quality. I mostly do geli printing but have done a few alcohol ink pieces based off of your instruction.

      I will check your channel shortly to see what you have done. I always love seeing other people’s creations! As for the fading, if you’ve watched my videos much you already know what I use lol. I am still using at least 3 coats each of Kamar and then UV archival by Krylon. Those have been working very good for me so far with what I have in my house (though I don’t hang or place things in the sun) and I haven’t had any complaints from others who have bought paintings yet. I hope that will continue to do good for quite a while. Resin on top of the 2 varnishes helps as well, but then you have the issue of the resin yellowing 🙄. I don’t know if anything would completely stop the fading of alcohol inks over time. That is one reason I hate to see ones for sale that are priced extremely high since there’s no guarantee how long the color will remain vibrant.
      As far as digital copies go, I haven’t been able to get good pics of mine for that either. I tried scanning with the same issues you have had and my camera just will not pick up the colors true to life. I keep thinking about seeing what a professional photographer would charge, but haven’t gotten around to that yet.
      I hope I answered everything. I sometimes have a hard time remembering what all someone asks about in a long comment once I start replying lol. Thanks again and I’ll be checking out your channel!

    The coral part you didn't like, can't you just put on alcohol and then blot it off with a paper towel?

    • @LorrieBrewer
      @LorrieBrewer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I could have, but I felt like I was already overworking the painting. Sometimes it’s better to just leave it as it is even if you don’t feel like it’s perfect. I probably would have ended up wiping the entire thing and starting over if I had messed around with it too much more. Knowing when to quit is an important part of painting to me lol. I didn’t want to get the video any longer than it already was, too. That’s something I struggle with lol.
