If anyone in those comments actually played AC1 (not even to a point where they can play well, just played it normally) then they would realize that AC1 is already far faster in terms of horizontal movement because AC1 has very little recovery between jumps. Mirage’s recovery between jumps is absolutely fucked because there’s an obvious pause between every jump. This is bad because Mirage is trying to incorporate Classic AC level design, which focused heavily on chains of constant jumping between beams and ledges. It was great in Classic AC because:

One of the coolest details in AC1 is that you can hear Altair's equipment clanking

Thing is. Classic parkour required the usage of neurons to actually be fancy while escaping/moving around

The parkour in the new ones is superhuman and holds your hand like a baby crossing the street. The old ones force you to look at your environment selectively and its a little dated but its still just a learning curve that once you understand, you feel like an unstoppable master assassin.

It's only slow if you don't understand how to actually play the game, you're not gonna escape a group of guards by mindlessly slamming your head against the facade of buildings, you have to actually put some thought into how you traverse the enviorment for a cleaner escape and that's a good thing, also speed is my last concern when it comes to Mirage's parkour

I think we all remember AC1 as a slow game because it ran so slow in our PCs.. it was a heavy game lol

The people that always call AC1 bad are the same ones that joined the AC franchise after the Ezio trilogy and probably only played the new trash games.

People actually don’t realize that the old games had a large skill gap in terms of learning the parkour and having knowledge of the the best course. You can bet that mirage won’t have that same depth.

People who think mirage is “back to roots” are only thinking surface deep. They would be satisfied if it were a stegosaurus wearing roller skates so long as it also had a white hood and hidden blade.

Anyone who uses good ejects, manages their High Profile use, and can move effectively recognizes AC1 is not slow at all. Great video!

It's funny when they say it's slow, because you know they only run at the sides of buildings and hold up at them and go "OMG NO CLIMB LEAP?? Slow!!!" Meanwhile AC1 having vaulting makes it my favorite movement system in any of the creed games. It's a shame they got rid of it.

It's not about speed , its about the freedom in which you can parkour , the ejects , the grabs and the long jumps all added to the parkour a sense that you were doing something , Unity just added much more with low and high parkouring

I like this game cuz it's the only one where the npc's thought of you matters like when it's a socially acceptable thing that Altair does or not. For example, Climbing ladders is more socially acceptable than parkouring to a roof. In which case the npc will not get suspicious of your actions and are still in cover from the guards

“AC1 is slow.” Well, then you haven’t been playing like an Assassin.

I think the misconception comes from people remembering mostly climbing high towers to synchronize. And you can't argue that reaching for each handhold was slow in AC1, unlike the horizontal movement that you showcased. AC2 did improve this and since most of us found out about back ejects, side ejects and the AC1-unique cancel-drop years later, the memories of Altair's adventure seem to be fuzzy for most.

It's true that by today's standards AC1 may be a little "clunky" or a little less "flashy" but in truth I haven't seen any game give so much freedom to move that AC1 gives, not even dedicated parkour games like mirror's edge don't have such freedom

If as those people never played Assassin’s Creed 1 before. Many people forget that AC1 to Revelation Parkour had A LOT of Freedom to it’s Gameplay Controls unlike the games afterwards where it became Automated.
