    Great video! I spray the 303 on my figure's pleather parts until they are SOAKED, then brush off any excess with a soft paint brush. So don't be afraid to lay the 303 on heavy :)

    Great video Optical. I would also add that it’s important when buying these figures that have the pleather second hand, make sure to ask the seller are there any signs of flanking or cracking.

      Thanks Negan, that is an excellent point. When the flaking starts typically it just rolls off too

    this video was really helpful. I live in lower Michigan, where the weather is all over the place regardless of the season. I have a Hot Toys Jango Fett that utilizes lots of leather, and this product has been really helpful as I bought it during the winter and it's stayed in fantastic shape since.

    I have sold a lot of my Hot Toys collection because of the shabby faux material they use.including this Crow figure. I just did not want to deal with the flaking and deterioration. I think the question is considering what they charge for Hot Toys , can't they use real thin leather or something better besides this crappy material? Just not acceptable.

    • @bunnyfreakz

      Real leather is thick and not suitable for small figure. Pleather is nice for hot Toys but sadly also not durable.

    Hello Optical! I don't know if you'll answer this but I figured I'd try anyway. I just recently got a Re5 Hot Toys Wesker. His pants and coat seem in pretty good condition with only small tiny black dots being left on my hands after handling. When I took off the jacket I found that his shirt underneath had a tiny bit of cracking and a little bit of flaking in the armpit under the shoulder. The flaking doesn't look bad to me and I feel like this can be recovered from but I have no idea how to go about this. Do you have any idea what I should do or if anything can be done? I'd prefer to keep all of it intact and not peal a massive amount off just because of one shoulder especially since it has a pattern and would look kind of silly to not have one.

    I recently got around to opening mine up. On of them, the pleather coat was sticky and felt a little stiff. It probably need to breath but it has been sealed for about 10 years. There is no cracking or peeling. Question - will this help remove the sticky feeling ?

    • @Tekka907

      In model cars made of metal they sometimes get diecast cancer. Paint also deforms and flakes over time. I can't remember the exact reason, but I think it was how it's prepped before paint is applied. A model maker has suggested keeping them out of direct sunlight that can fade or damage any paint as an additional precaution.

    Hello, I'm a first time toy collector. I have a question? What about current Hot Toys like HOT TOYS BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT BATMAN FUTURA KNIGHT VERSION COLLECTIBLE FIGURE 1/6TH SCALE and MEDICOM 1/6 PROJECT BM! #30 KANEDA SHOUTAROU. I just bought them this year and I was planning preserve them for future investment. Should I unbox them or not, I'm a bit worried they might flake in the near future base on what I saw on this video. What's your professional advice for this?

    • @optical20
      @optical20  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      unbox them, enjoy them. If they are going to flake, they will regardless if they are in the box or not. With Batman I doubt it since he is mostly rubber. Your biggest enemy is posing them. As far as investment. I am sorry to tell you but hot toys tends to re issue therefore removing any value for investment potential.
